What is holding us back? – We are destined to destroy Russia.

Did we run out of money? Did the Eden HQ command us to stop for now and reorganize our ranks? My theory is Krems got fed up from being presented as a black man and refused to continue the invasion of Russia which for now has been a string of staggering victories for the Allied nations. All what is certain is that America isn’t advancing deeper in to Russia, but has stalled and let nations with MPP-stacks against Russia to come in between and secure the possessions America has already conquered.

I’m disappointed by this decision. The war was going well and though the battle of WSR was increasingly tougher, there seems to be no obvious argument for the temporary pause in the war, especially when there were two relatively cheap regions to be attacked next, and because USA had just passed the bottle neck of WSR. Now we are yet again behind it and have to go through it once we seek to destroy the remnants of Russia, albeit the region is now controlled by friendly nations.

Behind the tremendous successes of this campaign, there is a serious of questionable events that have led to unnecessary spending in terms of pointless swaps, mainly in Far Eastern Russia where the region was transferred to China even when USA was already possessing Eastern Siberia and thwarting the attack coming from the Russians. These pointless swaps of regions aimed to be ultimately returned back to USA are raising the total cost of the invasion considerably.

The command is doing an excellent job by taking the best of the revised initiative rules and using them creatively, denying our enemies the chance to attack us on their prime time, reducing their chances of getting their regions back. However, the command has fallen in to over cautiousness and this has led to wasteful spending.

North Korea is a critical asset in this war, as they can attack the regions we have conquered immediately afterwards, so the enemy can’t attack our new regions back. You see, the initiative in V2 is region-based and the attacker is in the risk of getting a penalty by being blocked. As weird as it appears to the players accustomed to sophisticated V1 war strategies, in V2, the failing to defend a region doesn’t lead to a penalty. Defenders can instantly attack back and this can lead to bidirectional wars where both participants defend and attack at the same time. During the entire campaign, we’ve lived in fear that Russia would realize this situation and expose us to a battle they have started during their favored time. Fortunately, they didn’t get this in FER, and we conquered it. They however used this tactic in Eastern Siberia, and honestly it was the only dangerous spot tactics-wise in the campaign to date. Thanks to our European allies, we beat Russians in their own game and held our lines of defense.

Another thing that matters in V2 is the attack queue. Only one battle can be waged over the same region at a time, so having a puppet nation ready and willing to attack and snatch the 1st place in the attack queue is extremely useful. A textbook example can be found from WSR, where North Korea managed to stretch an attack on WSR before Russia, giving America 24 hours of breathing time as Russia were unable to attack WSR. Had we wanted to continue, we could’ve attacked Northern Russia and Urals and retreat from WSR, giving it to Korea. We did pull out, but didn’t launch attacks onwards. To me, this was a mistake.

Currently there is a plan being drafted, dividing the three resource-havens of Russia between Poland, USA and China. China, who hasn’t activated any MPP-sets, is the safest nation of the three, and therefore they should serve as the outermost ray of the rainbow formerly known as Russia. Currently WSR is the region bordering Russia, and as this region is prone to fall to the possession of Poland in the treaty, Eden is deliberately leaving a gaping threat as Hungary has full MPP😒 against Russia. There is a consistent string of Phoenix regions connecting Hungary and WSR, paving the way for a land swap of massive proportions. Poland has a history of resource colonies falling prey to a complex Phoenix landswap, transporting a nation with superb MPP😒 to wipe the colonialists out from their possessions. The operation is jeopardized when Poland is out in the open for an attack from Hungary. Hungary can move through Ukraine and Russia with the help of Slovakia, who betrayed Eden they were earlier loyal to by transporting Hungary to Podolia already. This situation would cause endless harm to Eden, as China and USA can battle Hungary 1v1, but the bottle neck in WSR is narrow and the swaps and attacks regarding it will quickly become very costly. Currently an attack on WSR costs 560G, and Eden has to use a middleman almost every time WSR needs to change hands, doubling the cost.

The WHPR clearly hints that the operation will resume at some point, once treasuries have been refilled. Once America wants to continue the war on Russia, WSR has to be hit by North Korea, then America, then North Korea again and finally Poland to return the region to its “original” owner. This will cost around 2200G, so we certainly have some refilling to do in order to even get started again.

A position near Central Europe is important for us in terms of future campaigning. What I’m thinking is that in addition of the resource havens in Russia, we establish a permanent base westward from WSR. Possible locations could be friendly regions in Scandinavia, or Northern Russia which can easily be sealed inside friendly regions. This gives us the possibility to move around the globe more flexibly and participate directly to wars on a wider basis.

Pressing deeper to Russia should be a national goal of ours. Just as PEACE pushed us to Florida, we should pay back and push Russia back to Kaliningrad. History is repeating itself as the riches of Russia are once more split between multiple nations, as they are supposed to be split. I’m sure our enemies from Hungary and Indonesia agree with this as they had their taste of the Russian natural resources, and surely didn’t let Russia have them back with ease. Older players remember how Russia paid thousands of Gold for their own regions to become complete, but this was only temporary and with the strength of a thousand allied soldiers we have brought order to where there was only bots, banned presidents and natural resources beyond the horizon.

The ideal division of Russia: Brown Poland has WSR in the middle, giving them Iron. Light blue is America, possessing FER and Urals, giving titanium and iron to them. China has Eastern Siberia, giving them titanium, alongside of having a belt of three regions keeping Phoenix away from USA and Poland.

I don’t want to be a buzzkill, nor do I seek the government to be one either. By being overcautious, we have played ourselves to a status quo from where it will be costly to go back on the war track. Russia was already crumbling, they came on the 4th place in the damage records and their allies are showing signs of war weariness. Serbia fought gallantly in WSR but they can’t fight back the combined forces of Poland, China, USA and Spain, supported by the mobile forces of Croatia and Romania alongside many other nations, and they realize this. As long as we had stayed out from Moscow, the lesser regions around it would’ve been easy prey for us, making it possible to form a circle of Chinese regions to keep the Polish WSR secured, giving us Iron in the process, making us the other nation of only two in the world who have all 5 natural resources.
