Wellness 101

Day 606, 16:38 Published in USA USA by mjdiv

Due to the recent population boom in eUSA, I felt it necessary to write this article for our newest citizens. If you look at your avatar on the upper left of the screen, the number on the upper left corner is your experience level. If this number is above 5, you can fight in battles and use the hospitals to increase your wellness. Many articles have been written about this including Which Button Do I Press First?

But what if I'm below level 5? How do I increase my wellness then? And what is wellness for anyway?

Below your avatar is your name, then the flag of the country your citizen lives in. Below that is the picture of a man or woman (depending on your gender). Below the man or woman is a number - that number is your wellness. A wellness of 100 means you can do 100% of your possible damage in a fight once you've reached level 5. It also means you produce 100% of your potential when you work for a company. If your wellness goes down to 0, your citizen dies. You need to have food before the end of each day (when your citizen "eats"). If you have no food, you will rapidly lose wellness and eventually die, so make sure you have food! If you will not be logging on for a couple of days, make sure you have at least one Q1 food for every day that you won't be on so you don't lose wellness.

When you start as a new citizen in eRepublik, you start with 50 wellness (50% of your potential). One of the first things you do is get a job - be careful which job you pick because every time you work, you lose wellness; but you need to work to be able to afford food to eat. The higher Q job you have (the number of stars in the job) the more wellness you lose each day. For more about choosing the right job, read What's My Job Worth?

As an example, if you work at a Q1 company (one star), you only lose 1 wellness each day. But if you work for a Q5 company (5 stars), you lose 5 wellness each day.

Another thing you should do each day is Train, to increase your strength (very important in the later stages of the game and, if you skip training, there is no way to make it up so train every day!). Each time you train, you also lose 1 wellness.

So, if you work and train each day, you will lose a minimum of 2 wellness each day (1 for training + 1 for working at a Q1 company) to a maximum of 6 lost each day (1 for training + 5 for working at a Q5 company).

To replace the lost wellness each day, you need to eat at least Q2 food (replaces 2 wellness) or Q3 food (replaces 3 wellness). Higher Q food will recover more wellness, especially if your current wellness is low. The lower your wellness is, the better your food will increase your wellness. However, no matter how much wellness you have, you still need to eat EVERY DAY.

One way to gain wellness is to ask for gifts. You can't give yourself a gift, but you can give it to someone else who can "gift" you back, or simply ask for one. The higher Q the gift, the better; for example, a Q1 gift will replace 1 wellness, while a Q5 gift will replace 5 wellness. You can find experienced mentors in the game who may help by "gifting" you. The military helped me in my earlier days by assigning me a "gifting partner" who would trade gifts with me each day so we could build our wellness up. If you don't know many people, one place to start making contacts and getting good information is through the Welcome Committee.

One of the best ways for our newest players to learn how to do this and make the most of their experience (especially since we are now at war) is to join the military by signing up for the eUS Training Division.

Remember to Work each day, Train each day and buy high enough quality food to keep from losing wellness. Thank you for reading. Have fun and enjoy another day in eRepublik!
