Which button do I press first?

**(Editor's Note: This article was previously published, but is reprtinted here for newer citizens to see.)
Have you ever asked yourself if the order in which you push the work/train buttons matters?
You'll survive no matter which way you do it but, to get the most out of your productivity, fighting ability, wellness and long-term financial benefits, there is a particular order in which you should do these things each day.
The first thing you should ask yourself each day is: Are we at war?
Before you press any buttons, find out if we are involved in any active battles (or about to go into one). Once you know that, you will know the order in which to push the buttons:
I. PEACETIME:
1. WORK (to get the most out of your productivity).
2. TRAIN after you've worked. You'll lose 1 wellness for training. Then, when you eat at the beginning of the next day, you'll be back up to maximum wellness to work again.
II. WARTIME (assume you're fighting from where there is a Q5 hospital):
1. Make sure your wellness is higher than 50, preferably at least 60. (You can fight at 40, but you won't get maximum recovery if you fight under 50). If you're not at least 50-60, get gifts from someone.
**2. TRAIN. (Do this first - even though your wellness decrease will lessen the damage you can do in a fight, the strength boost from training will still give you a slight edge over what you could do without training).
3. FIGHT until your wellness reaches 50, not lower. Remember, every time you fight, you lose 10 wellness.
4. HEAL at hospital so you're back up to 100% wellness.
5. WORK at 100% wellness for highest productivity. You'll lose wellness from working but then, when you eat, you'll be back at 100% and ready for the next day (whether to fight or peacetime).
** Note: If your current strength is ABOVE 6.15, then you will do more damage by fighting before you train. In this case, follow the same steps, but train last (after you work for the day).
III. In the above example, if you could not start with at least 60 wellness, fight ONCE and then use the hospital, but follow the same order as above. The next day, you will be at 80-90% wellness and, if you can still fight, you can then be at 100% after healing on the second day of battle.
IV. If your wellness is equal to 40 at the beginning of the day, do not train first, because you won't be able to fight and heal. In this case:
1. FIGHT ONCE (wellness will drop to 30).
2. HEAL at the hospital (wellness will go up to 80).
3. WORK at 80 wellness (you'll be twice as productive as you were at 40).
4. TRAIN.
5. The next day, depending on whether or not we are at war, you can use either I or II above.
Hopefully this helps you make the most of your productivity, fighting ability and wellness. Remember, when we have war games or any other battles, they are normally 24 hours long, giving us 2 days to rank up and get our wellness up. As long as you start with at least 40 wellness, you can be at or near 100% at the end of the second day! Have fun and enjoy another day in eRepublik!

Good stuff, thanks mjdiv.
Excellent work mjdiv. You should definitely repost this every once in a while.
newbies should read this...
great stuff...
Very useful. Thanks!
Nice! Perfect article for newbies like me! Thanks
Never fight at 100 wellness always fight at 99. The fight module will prevent you from fighting again if you are below 40 wellness. If you mess up and fight too many times you will stopped out at 30 if you begin with 100, a real super bummer. If you start at 99, you will automatically stop out at 39. Still a bummer but much better, kinder bummer!
Fighting too many times is always a bummer and everyone does it once in a while, even the experienced players get messed up with lag or the game glitching.

Great article, voted and already subscribed.
I like the distinction between wartime and peacetime "button pushing".
But what I'm really curious about is this: ** Note: If your current strength is ABOVE 6.15, then you will do more damage by fighting before you train. In this case, follow the same steps, but train last (after you work for the day).
How did you figure that out? I'm bad with math...

Great article! Really helps new folks like me!
As always, the informative article can serve to help new and old players alike.
Sometimes, we old players tend to forget and think we can beat the system..
Voted. Still a classic.

thanks for the republish..!
now, deployed Soldiers are being told a different order, but that's about a multi-pronged strategy.. so Soldiers, please, remember to click as directed by our CO's but definitely revert back to this system upon return eStateside.
BTW, I'll hire civilians who follow this method and maintain high wellness. see the Custer's Stand article for details.
This is the correct order for people who are trying to maintain >90 wellness and maximize their usefulness. However, if you are trying to maintain exactly 100 wellness I would recommen😛
1. Train
2. Gift
3. Fight x 5
4. Heal at Q5
5. Work
I added the gifting step, because most citizens maintaining 100 wellness will use gifting at least once a day anyhow.
AndraX2000 -
Because my strength is higher, I am still able to keep 100% wellness for fighting AND for working.
For me, I start each day at 100 and, since I work at a Q3 company (something only higher skilled players should do), I gift myself 3 times to bring myself back to 100. Then I train (down to 99) and my Q1 food + Q1 house brings me to exactly 100 at the end of the day.
Your formula will work fine if strength is below 6.15, but mine will do slightly more damage if strength is higher.
Great information, thanks for posting!

Thank you for the advice!
Thanks! I'm new and I find this to be very helpful.

Check it again.
1. Train to 99
2. Gift to 100
3. Fight to 50
4. Heal to 100
5. Work to 97 (you are Q3)
6. Gift x2 to 99
7. Food & Q1 H to 100
This will do sightly more damage than what you described. You will still both fight and work at 100. You also use the same number of gifts.
"3. WORK at 80 wellness (you'll be twice as productive as you were at 40)."
This is not entirely correct. If your wellness is 40, your wellness multiplyer is 1+((2*40)/100)=1.8
If your wellness is 80, it'll be 1+((2*80)/100)=2.6
In other words your productivity is 44,4 % higher. :/
Very useful. Thank you.
Nice article
But my health is at 26.34,so how can I heal?
Thanks for writing something like this! Really usefull!
