Welcome To The World
Lowell Kennedy
New players are thrown into eRepublik with very little knowledge of the workings of the new world. There is a tutorial, but there is very little else. There used to be a few guides for the beta period. This article will serve as a guide for new players entering V1.
1 – Welcome to eRepublik
eRepublik is an online game where you can follow your political, economic or military aspirations and change the course of history. In order to unlock features within eRepublik, you will need a certain number of experience points. That’s to say, in order to fight, vote, or join a party, you will need to gain experience points. Everyday you eat, work, and/or train, you will gain experience points. An easy way to gain some experience points is to upload an avatar. Additionally, once you get your first job, you will gain experience points.
2 – Remember to Buy / Consume Food
Just like in real life, your citizen in eRepublik must eat daily in order to survive. Everyday, one piece of food-the highest quality one-will be removed from your inventory and 'eaten.' Thus, in order to eat, you must have food in your inventory. If you run out of food, you can buy more food from the marketplace.
3 – Apply for a Job
Under the Market Tab, select the Human Resources link and search for a company that hires skill levels 0-0.99. Browse these companies and choose one that best suits you. However, remember to Consider The Costs. With each day of work, you will earn money and increase your skill. With higher skill comes higher-paying jobs.
4 – Train / Join the National Guard
Under the My Places Tab, select the Army link. Click the Join Army link and train daily, so you can build up you military skill. To achieve a higher score when you fight, you should train daily. Also as a new player, you need to build up your strength to join the US Army. You can earn extra money and defend your country at the same time. As a new player, you are eligible to join the National Guard. The is link is:

5 – Read the Media Daily
Under the Community Tab, select the media link. The top ranked stories in the country will come up. You can also sort by the latest news. In order to be better informed about what is going on in the game, read newspapers on a daily basis. The president, local businessmen, and politicians will provide information through this public medium. Most information is readily available if you search for it. For example, if you are interested in the country’s current political policies, you can become involved in their discussion.
6 – Get Involved / Introduce Yourself
There are several ways to get involved. For example, you can join the eUSA Chatroom or the US forums. You can also join a party forum like the Yellow Party’s. You won’t be allowed to join a political party officially until you are level 7 but many parties accept new players at their forums. If other party members want to post their forum links in the comments, that’d be great.
Once you involve yourself, introduce yourself. It's the fastest way for people to get to know you, and for you to make friends. Don’t be afraid to communicate with high ranking officials in the government or the party. When you become active in the game, you can learn from older members. Additionally, activity will make the game more interesting for you.
7 – Join a Wellness Program
You started your life in eRepublik with 50 wellness. However, there is a need for high wellness in the game. There are many parties that have wellness programs to help out newer players. For example, if you are interested in the Yellow Party’s Wellness Initiative, please message istarlan, who will help you help if you just ask. Wellness is important when you work and fight.

Thanks for the helpful article, Lowell. I know I was pretty lost as a new player once...
It might help to modify your 2nd point to include a little more information. About how just buying the food is enough, the game itself will take care of eating it. I know I spent too much time my first day figuring out how to eat my food. 🙂
Okay, I corrected the food section, hopefully clarifying the point.
And an explanation of quality would be useful - what benefits does a new player get from what quality food? What are the downsides to working for a higher quality company?
Headmistress, an article on quality will probably be forthcoming. It's a topic that deserves it's own article.
Additionally, I'd like to announce ratlord won the house drawing.
Good, informative article, and thanks for the plug!
Great article. I think this should be linked in the new user message!
Great article 🙂
really nice
Nice, wish it had been part of the welcome letter when I first joined!
