Andy Costello wants to raise import taxes marginally until a stable working percentage is found.
Raising of the import taxes will decrease the supply from foreign countries, which in turn will create
higher revenue for domestic companies. By pushing out some of the foreign competition, domestic
companies will be able to raise prices and wages. This will make up for the loss of foreign income
because higher priced products create a higher tax percentage that the government will get.

Import taxes aren't going to affect wages or help the economy. What they will do is cause people to not have the option to buy as many goods, because of higher prices.
Its a matter of purchasing power. We are competitive with nations like Hungary in terms of purchasing power, yet we pull in so much more in terms of Taxes. This allows our citizens to buy as much as they want normally, but we can still supply a kick ass military.
How does import taxes not equate to revenue ..or retained revenue? Free market isn't the great deal it's cracked up to be. If forces wages down for both parties, which is fine if you're always on an even playing field.
Raising import taxes will indeed raise wages, but prices will rise further. That is to say, you'll be able to buy less than you can now.

It's an important issue and as much as war strategy it's important for my vote on this CP election. I'm not interested in how much I earn...I'm interested in how much I earn relative to the cost of food, weapons, gifts and moving tickets. I'd rather make $6 when weapons cost $2 than make $18 when weapons cost $17.
