Its been along time. Entirely too long. Cold dreamless sleep... now, awake. I've decided to try my hand at reporting for a change. No sides, no orders, just deadlines, a pen, and my own guile. Sadly not a lot of pretty pictures (yet). Enjoy.

Underdog to challenge Oblige for President of the United States

I had the chance to sit down with Aeriala the other night and conduct an interview regarding her bid for the esteemed office of President of the United States. Given the many divides our nation has, I am sure you will find many of her stances to be a refreshing change from the hatred and bigotry that often plague our little world. And most of all, this lady has a brass set folks.

Aeriala opened the conversation with admitting she was the underdog from day one and emphasizing that winning isn’t everything. She agreed with my statement that all in all, any game isn’t about the winning, its about the fun. To go a step further Aeriala admitted that, “Sometimes having your ideas noticed is more important than actually getting there yourself.”

Given as Aeriala is coming up to bat for the American Military Party, there is a good deal of flack she is about to receive from rival parties. A good dear friend of mine Armandez once said, “[They are] not our opponent. They only consider us their opponent because we do. Which is a pointless cycle.” I broached this statement to her and asked for her opinion on the matter to which she responded “It's nothing new and has been done since the beginning of eRepublic. It always good to have competition, it makes you strive to be better; however, rising above it you look at the people and make choices based on that, not party bull .”

“Party based politics isn't always the final answer, you have to look at a person for their ability. I don't hate anyone for their party choice, they may do it just to use the parties power and still be unhappy there.” was the answer to my observation of her choice in staffing her cabinet with mainly USWP members. I think she says it best folks. A Vice President who was once our Commander in Chief (Alexander_Auctoritas - USWP), The honorable Vanek26 (USWP) as National Security Chairman, and a new Deputy NSC who has a long record of military campaigns under his belt; SGTRock (USWP).

She sung only praises about her choice in NSC, “I know Vanek26 from my time in TERRA and he has always done a fine job. I even offered him a chance to move up, but he turned me down to remain in place.” She knows, like I do, you cannot count on one person forever. “Vanek has held the job a long time and eventually everyone moves on; whether it's to advance or for a personal break.” Keeping her eye on the horizon, she is hoping that SGTRock becomes a suitable apprentice under Vanek26 to ensure our stability for when that time comes.

Aeriala outlined her ideas of tax reform in one of her previous articles which you can find here; On Taxes and Such; however, I will save a bit of time and give you a concise summary. Lower the income tax, Increase the VAT tax. The tall and skinny is that the admin-bots buy nearly all of our non Q6 goods (if the business operators are being smart). The VAT tax on these goods can replace a good chunk of our personal income tax. This approach, in my opinion, is a wonderful example of using the system to better our nation.

But what about the Q6 goods we buy every day to fight and work around the globe? Our military systems tend to be communal to the point where start-up capital is all that is needed to fund these organizations. So the vital, most active branches of our military, are supported indifferent of the market. The down side is that folks like me, who do not run without an outfit, pay a little more for our goods. This however is offset by the fact that I am paying LESS taxes when I work to buy these goods. Who knows, it might work, It might not.

I did however, in the fairness of journalism, had to ask a hard question regarding taxes: Can she get a predominately USWP congress to back her on this bold move? Given as congress can either back the play of the president, showing leadership to the nation, or scoff at her in derision, it is ultimately up to them. Her answer was sobering, “Actually i don't think I can make it change with a predominately USWP congress. I offered to talk with them and give my experience with it to answer questions, but what can one do else wise.”

We brought the interview to a close with a question every sane person has to ask themselves when running for president: What baited you into having the desire to be a cog in the cluster frack we call government? The response, for me at least, was stirring...

“One of the ways I've always looked at as being in a position like CP, is that you are no longer in a party, you are the leader of a nation. I just like to help, and the best way to do that is putting my ideas out there. Are my ideas better, that is up to the voters. However, win or lose it's a strong place to get people to look at what you think. There's obviously some glory in it, but no matter what, you try to make a difference, that good feeling you get for doing something right is the ultimate reward”
