Training Grounds and Battles You Can Fight In
Lieutenant Scheisskopf
Because everyone is still recovering from yesterday's battle, I have no war-related commentary to give today. However, I thought one change in eRepublik since yesterday was certainly worth mentioning, since I have not noticed if anyone else has brought it up yet-- although if you have fought today, I am sure you saw it. Without giving away too much tradecraft on how to research for military-related articles (if you want to know, you should register for my Journalism course<-- shameless plug), the latest change to the Training module has taken away an essential resource: the ability to see all active wars, and all battles, on one page. Instead, we have this in its place.
Some people may consider the "Battles You Can Fight In" to be a good change, as it shows more easily which battles are available to them. I just wonder how hard it was under the old system for people to figure out which battles they could fight in, to make this change necessary-- maybe I am missing something. Think about what this does to those who fight for, or command, mobile fighting units who routinely deploy, or for those who command a country's military. Or what about those who, like me, want to write about New World battles, or who are just curious about what's going on in the world? By "cutting out the middleman" and only showing the battles where we are able to fight, we are being involuntarily detached from the rest of the eRepublik battlefields and goings-on. We are made oblivious to battles which do not involve our country directly. Like Guolin said in the comments, at least give us a compromise where we could see all battles as well as the ones we are eligible for.
Sure, you can still check individual countries by clicking on their flags, or you can look at the International tab on your homepage, but whose idea was it to make being informed about the New World a more roundabout task? People who are interested in ALL battles now have to know who's fighting who beforehand, in order to find anything. Fortunately, you can still get to the original page by entering http://www.erepublik.com/en/wars. However, as long as that link is not available on the main dropdown bar, fewer and fewer people will be aware of this link's existence and will become more and more detached from the rest of the New World's latest military developments.
I hope you agree with me and will advocate that the old Active Wars format be returned quickly, either solo or alongside the new "Battles You Can Fight In" feature. This seems to be a pretty subtle change, so I hope the powers that be will strongly consider it.
God Bless America,
Lt. Scheisskopf

I want the old Active Wars back. 😨

oh noes!
The admins must be mad that we use moving tickets instead of expensive MPP's to fight.
At least thats my take.

Admins just have one mistake after another

I'm with you Scheisskopf, knowledge is power.
Its not really hard to do anyway, the new system just makes it easier for new guys. If you really wanna look at all wars just go to international news section and you can see all wars clearer than on war page imo.
Keep us fighting- http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-keep-us-fighting--1101705/1/20" target="_blank">http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-kee[..]/1/20
Honestly, though, I was very annoyed back then when I could not see the list of battles I could fight in. Thus, a better solution: a compromise:
Have both "all wars" and "battles you can fight in" in the same page. Another proposal would be to have these two buttons under army, as well as your war statistics. That leaves training grounds empty for...training stuff. You should also be able to see your trainers after you trained...just no option to actually train.
Lol @ Jacobo, excellent explanation.
Good point Lt., I hope they return this.
True..
Why is everyone so afraid of change? Just click on the int'l events on your home page.
"Afraid of change?" No, it isn't fear. Please learn to identify feelings better.
Also, despite popular belief, change does not equal good.
we're not afraid of change Buggsy, but when the change is unwarranted, un-needed and unwanted that's when it comes like this. The admins have clearly already shown they don't give a stuff about what we think and don't listen to us.
I just saved the wars link to my bookmarks
I agree, I thought it sucked that you can't find out wtf is going on.
now even outside wars are almost just as transparent as government is
I'm pissed off dawg, this is absolute BS.
I'm, personally, annoyed at change.
*correct feeling identified*
😃
This "improvement" is one of the stupidest things I've ever seen the Admins do. And I've been around to see a lot of stupidity.
I like this change. It's such a pain hunting for my active wars in the endless lists. Now I can just go to Training grounds to find my battle link. Much easier.
It's great if you don't wanna move around, but for lots of players who actively fight in different battles... and want to see what's going on w/ active battles this was just fail. Ugh. 😑
It is better organized like this.
2 clickers don't need much more and it forces them to train first. "Forced" training might be a bad idea in some cases but someone who gets into the game will learn fast what and how to do.
To get to the entire war info click: Country Administration/then Military tab which lists first the country's wars then All wars. Same with Resistance wars, first country's then all of them. It is a better solution than having them all thrown together.
Someone who knows how to travel to fight and how to get weapons and follow orders surely can manage 1 extra click.

Actually you can still view all active wars. Simply go to the view of a single battle. From there you can click the blue button at the top that says VIEW WAR or whatever and then from that screen you can go to WARS LIST
I have yet to run into the "Active Battles You Can Fight In" Page as I find battles directly from the latest events page and also have a helpful tab to active battles from my eRep plus. Where do you run into it?
Also, while the admins are at it, they should order wars in the 'war list'. If you search what wars you are involved in (active or not) every time you refresh or go to the next page everything jumps around so its hard to find the war you want. They should just do it from when the war was declared, not random.
Its not like the admins are going to listen to this, we had thousands of signatures asking for the removal of the personal trainers and we were completely ignored. Great article, as always, but I doubt it makes a big difference.
Theres 9000 votes on an article to add Kosovo into Serbia into the game and its been ignored as well.
They aay we have the power to change the game with our suggestions, but we obviously don't when they just ignore us.
The most mocking part is the fact that they say this AFTER we have protested against this reccent stupidity, it just shows the admins dont give a hoot about our opinnion unless we by gold like parter did. It shocks me that the admins can be so dang ignorant even when thousands are against what they do.
On top of that, with all due respect(which isnt much) there have been countless Failures on there part such as the tempoary clock and search bar deletion, and after it was fixed, they gave no apology NOTHING to refer to their failures.
Lets hope they set "Administrating with sense" as their new year's resoultion.
I may be 34th, but my spirit lives on 😛

I like Guolin's idea. Give us the option to see both the list of battles we can pariticipate in and the list of all wars.
I just bookmarked the all wars page.
Hrm... while this change makes it more difficult for me, I like it.
It is exponentially simpler for our two-clickers. It is not difficult for the rest of us to go to the international events on our home page. Personally, I think it makes my life coaching newbies a whole lot easier; especially since the old method showed battles in wars with no active battles, and similar bugs that confuse newbies. This is simpler and more efficient for the majority of the population.
