Follow-up to Last Week's Congressional Activity Reports
Activity was minimal this week as the 72nd Congress prepares to move in, but [Discussion] SCI Related eUS Code Amendments continues to be examined as the focus turns over to the CIA Directors oversight, or lack of oversight, on an incoming President’s list of proposed SCI members.
This Week's Congressional Activity
Sign in for the 72nd Congress has concluded, with 43 members present and a very nice selection of 70’s rock for your listening pleasure. Quorum is set at 22 for the first week.
Nominations for the Speaker of the House were set on the second day of this term, the candidates being DMJohnston, Pfeiffer and Dr Luis Sentieiro.
This race for SoH was such a big campaign that even as the Vote thread was active, Melissa Rose and Gnilraps hosted a debate on eNPR’s Friday night show. The final vote concluded moments ago, with Dr Luis Sentiero being elected as Speaker of the 72nd Congress. “Dr Sexy” has named TellUrGrlThx and dmjohnston as his Deputies, and Apollo221 as Whip.
In Private Congress news, discussions continue on US-Poland-Spain relations, Occupied Country Taxes and the Empires & Determination.
More in-game Proposals:
Mutual Protection Pacts
● Approve
😛
President of Italy proposed a mutual protection pact.
● Also Approve
😛
Dr Luis Sentieiro proposed to transfer 400000 USD from the country accounts to Congressional Budget Office.
The Week Ahea
😛
Next order of business will be the December Budget. This is generally presented by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), with their recommendations of how much we should spend on the Military, MPPs, etc., and whatever’s left to go to the Reserves.
Congress generally doesn’t simply “rubber stamp” the CBO’s version; we like to hear justification for some expenditures, or maybe call on the US Armed Forces to account for their spending and projected needs before we just fork over that kind of dough.
The Legislative Branch and Public Congressional Proceedings are where Congress conducts almost all its business, and are there for you to follow our Discussions and Votes.
George Armstrong Custer and the LAP Media College:

on behalf of Speaker of the House Dr “Sexy” Luis Sentiero and Deputy Speakers TellUrGrlThx and dmjohnston.

Congrats to DLS
Thank you all for trusting me this position and let's have an amazing term! \o/
someone's trusting you? oh, dude, you are being watched SO closely, especially when you get around any loose cash or jewelry.
you're killing me.
congrats to DLS :3
Congrats DLS!
Why is the US-Poland-Spain relationship, Occupied Country Taxes and the Empires & Determination being discussed in the 'PRIVATE' Congressional forum, all of those topics are subjects that both old a new citizens should be knowledgeable about; there is nothing secret about any of those and I would like to see them moved to the Public Congressional Forum....
Personally I have questions, especially about the America/Poland/Spain NAP....
I'm probably not the best one to respond, but I'll take a shot.
ongoing negotiations of any kind have to be kept quiet.. I do know that as these matters are settled it'll all go Public, and that's probably going to be fairly soon.
The American/Poland/Spain NAP I understand, the rest I don't understand;just what is secret about them?
The Occupied Country taxes discussion hasn't been active in a couple of weeks, actually. It was related to the need for new discussions with Spoland, and this was in Private to protect the specifics of said discussions and changes.
Thanks for the reporting as always.
Nicely done.
Congrats to Dr. Luis
