Once upon a time, so all fairy tales start, and this one too.

In order to “celebrate” my 5 years as moderator, 5 years of Germark and 5 years of emarriage, I decided to write a bit about everything
( sorry in advance, if a little bit of everything results in a wall of text)

I started in erepublik more than 5 years ago, and I can't count the times I said "I don't wanna play this boring game, I'm gonna quit," and as you now know, I'm still here 😮.

What made me stay back then, and even now is the community.
The small group of Danes back then dragged me into their small circle and I was caught!



Sadly I have the ability to always mingle into the control center of everything I start (rofl- I know it’s my own fault), and that happened here as well.

First I got into politics, and soon I was President in Denmark for the first time, and I got elected by the Danes as their Queen.

To be fair it was a part of a roleplay, and the plan was that after a period a new Queen or King should be elected. But that just never happened, so I'm still the Queen of eDenmark.



Over time I was President and Minister for most of my time here, and later elected dictator for 9 months in a row 😮. But a rogue member of the Danish community (and his friends in the shadows) decided to go his own way and liberate the country.

I never said or wrote anything about this in the media and I still won't. But the situation broke the Danish community, and in the end I decided to leave the country.

I found my way to eGreece by first stopping by eTurkey for a short visit. But since I was invited to a greek MU and found some awesome people there, I decided to stay if they wanted to let me into the country. Lucky for me, they pressed the O.K button and I became greek citizen.



But to go back again, when my profile was about ½ a year old, I applied to become a moderator, and forgot all about the application. But one day I received an e-mail:

“Congratulations......”

I had been chosen for the moderator team, and to be honest it took me about a day before I dared to join the moderator-channel on IRC as I thought someone was joking with me (lol).

When I finally dared to enter, I found a bunch of people no different from myself. Ordinary players that decided to help the game on voluntary basis. Of course some of them were frightening as they had been there for quite some time, and knew a lot more than I did (remember my account was only around ½ a year old)
But soon I was let in and I was starting to learn what moderating was about.

Oh my god, there was a lot to learn 😮!

But I had the most wonderful teacher which, lucky for me, was very patient with me and all my questions ( and I had a lot… )



In real life and in all the voluntary jobs I ever had online, I’m a perfectionist, so all the time my greatest fear was to fail.

The only way to avoid that was to work hard, and learn more every day.

As a moderator you can have one, two or three stars and I got my third star after around ½ year.

I was so da** proud when I finally got to where I had dreamed to be. Now I had the chance to help where I really wanted. which was catching the cheaters in the game I spent so much time on.



I have to admit, I really don’t like cheaters. Not here, or in any online game for that matter.
I remember too well all those players in Counter-Strike who knew where I was, even before I did myself. I hated those players. Play the game as it’s intended to be played and don’t ruin it for others, is my mantra.

I love being part of the moderator team, and I’m pretty sure if it weren’t for those people, I would not have an account here anymore. I would have quit from one day to another without looking back. Just like I did from Travian, when I felt it took over my life.

Now I’m one of the “oldfags” myself in regards to moderating, as I just had my 5 years anniversary 😮.
Now I might be one of those who scare the newcomers, but I try hard to be a teacher and not a bully 😛. I want the new moderators to find a home in the Team, just like I did (I can’t say if I succeeded, but I sure hope so). EDITOR’S NOTE: you did succeed :>

The team, my MU, and the community in eDenmark which I’m still a part of, although it’s like an outsider with no weight in decisions, is the reason why I’m still here, and probably will be for long time to come.

All these boys and girls are my second family, and I love every single one of them, even if we don’t always agree on everything. Ups and downs are found in every good and strong family.

Believe me, I have disliked Plato’s updates just as much as the rest of the players did. Of course some more than others, and still we stay - why ?
Answer would once again be the community, and for me the moderator team too.



My story is about me being a moderator too, which is a big part of my daily routine here, which is why I’d like to put some tips and tricks

I do not like when I have to send an answer back where I say to people, please only send a max of 10 ID’s for the moderators to check.

Instead I want to ask people politely to follow this little tip:

Please, if you report multi-accounts, list a max of 10 ID’s/citizen-links in each ticket you send.

Or list 10, wait for the accounts to be checked, and then you can send 10 more in same ticket.

Do not list ID’s with names, numbers, strength etc. - Only the ID or link.
If you want us to know more, put your text above or below the ID’s

Furthermore, it will not speed up things if you use vulgarities, or spam the ticket system.

Examples:

“WELL LET ME TELL YOU ONE THING.....GO F**K YOURSELF IN THE F***ING ARSE YOU F***ING ROMANIAN GIPSIES AND YOUR GAME AND YOUR TIMING.....GO F**K YOURSELF...YOU CAN CONSIDER THIS TICKET AS MY LAST ONE BECAUSE I AM NOT SPENDING ONE F***ING DAY IN THIS FILTHY ROTTEN DUMBF**K GAME....AU REVOIR MOTHERF***ERS”

“No seriously dude, I can't even remember what f***ing game this is or when I even played it. I just wanna delete this shit and get it over with but you're making it hard as a motherf***er. Just get a f***ing button that says DELETE ACCOUNT. Save everybody the trouble, we're all just wasting time here, aren't we really?”

“Kasper still no answer from you. Eat shit you little pussy and son of a whore!”

“Fix it Idiots, you rat brain f***ers;
….
there is an expression in my tradition which says:
"when a gypsy became rich he cured his butt with yogurt"...
in this case, to make it more simple for you, YOU are the gypsy and the money you get is the Yogurt.

“at the meantime I foresee that the answer will be the same like always "we are ANALysing it"
and if i am right, you can suck my dick.”

I tried finding some sweet or funny tickets, but sadly there is not many to find…..

As moderator we have to put up with quite a lot as you see, which is sad because we moderators aren't the enemy, all though it feels like it sometimes.

The moderators are ordinary people with a life, a family, work or school. We do not work full time here, it’s voluntary work and we do whatever we can to answer your ticket as fast as possible.

It would also be a big help if you send your ticket to the right department, and of course we understand if it wasn’t possible to find it for your specific question. But directing it to the right people, will also make the chance of a fast answer bigger. (a question about your investments in the game does not belong in multi-department, and your “brother” creating an account doesn’t belong in bugs etc.)

Sometimes we need new moderators and it will be written on the forum for what languages, and I promise you some awesome people as colleagues if you get in.

What is the difficult part of being a member of this family, is the knowledge you get over time. It is very hard not to tell anyone what you spend so many hours on, and not to use the knowledge ingame. But as moderator you have to be tough and say no to many temptations.

Despite all this, it’s worth it!



Some people know me as Maine Coon the player, the eternal Queen of eDenmark, and others as MC^ the moderator, but I’m not just one or the other, I’m both at the same time and all the time.

Soon I will have stayed in my new country for a year 😮 , and still I only know a few words in Greek, but I hope to learn more.
My Military Unit are trying hard to teach me words, and I’m not sure they always teach me nice ones ( although we didn’t get to the curse words yet 😛, at least I don’t think so…... )

Lately we saw articles published directed to the admin team about the game and the community (Yui’s article, Gnilraps’ article) and I hope the future will bring more and better communication between the players and the admin team. We need it, the game needs it, and whether or not admins agree, they need it too 🙂

The players complain and publish articles because they care about the game, just as the moderators applied for the job in order to help. We are all players that in the end want the best for this game, and in my humble opinion, we will only reach “the best” together.
As a player, and as a moderator I hope admins understand that ignoring the community ain’t the right way to go.

The story started as a fairytale and contained a Queen, but where is the King?. Well he is a part of the German community and we got eMarried the day we created Germark as a protection of both countries (guys and girls in eDenmark and eGermany - Germark has survived for 5 years 😮 and so have my marriage to Freiheitskämpfer )



I know this article got too darn long, but I still hope that some of you finished reading it from top to bottom.
Honestly I don’t think I wrote this much in english since school ( and that’s maaaaaany years ago 😛 )
