I do congratulate to Atlantis for its members and their methods. If they cannot do it by war, although they do boast to having a strong army with lots of tanks - then they will do it in a way that is worthy of goons, by taking over the elections, placing a puppet to the presidential seat who will retreat and give them the country.

I do take my hat off for tactics like this. But they do leave a bitter taste in the mouth and do make one fight against the rules that let you do such a despicable thing.

This voting system is WRONG to allow such takeovers. I condemn all the past ones and I want to see new rules that prevent them. They should be the admins' first priority, not the shop and the design. That it is not even on the agenda shows that admins actually approve goons and goonish tactics.
Quicksilver, I can agree with you on this issue. But until this kind of tactics can be used, let's stop with the propaganda about Atlantis acting as goons and PEACE acting as liberators. This is all I'm saying.

Han Solo, Atlantis' very reason for existence used to be to defend themselves from the goons of yes, PEACE, or so I heard. Is it not true? Now you showed that you are good pupils - but I say to a bad direction.
This does seem to be a very underhand tactic. Although I think it is not evident that this is a policy which the whole of Atalntis has adopted.
Perhaps countries can be given some control over their immigration? Perhaps by giving the power to block immigration from certain countries when it exceeds a certain number in a certain period?

@Quicksilver: its just partially true - ATLANTIS formed against goons, but quickly started accusing non-goon countries of being goons - that was the point when PEACE GC formed against unjustified Atlantis aggressions.
Okay, but it was against goons at first. Sorry, I got carried away by the topic. I just hate this so-called 'tactics', which in my opinion is better called backstabbing. I do have my opinion about PEACE too, as i wrote in an earlier article (http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/peace1-707838/1)... both these alliances have their checkered past - and present I should say.

I agree with Quicksilver on all points. How annoying it is that this is even possible. And yes, I dislike gooning by anyone, also the allies of my country. If PEACE uses these kinds of tactics (which they indeed do) we should be better than them. I know it's easier said than done when it's such an easy way to gain money, land and political influence, but I'd really like a bit more morals in Erep in general. (Don't mistake me for supporting Russia against Romania, I don't.)

Think of it like a government-sponsored Coup. Sure it's not brave but it gets the job done. The mods shouldn't get rid of it because it happens in real life too that outside influence can take over a nation.
I like the tactics. This is the stuff that you can do in eRepublik that wouldn't be nearly as easy in real life. They used the system to their advantage, and got away with it. I tip my hat to them.

The game has stupid rules. Moving and voting the same day is not realistic. Small countries will seize their existence if some more sane rule is not introduced. For example, only the people who lived 10 days in a specific country can vote on its elections.

@Wieros, in real life, all the hungarians that live in Transilvania are voting the hungarian candidate. This tactic is used even in real world. In different proportion, the hungarians are everytime present in romanians political statute.

@Brain&Black org: that hungarian people in transilvania are fully citizens of romania. thus logically they can vote.
hungarians living in hungary aren't citizens of romania so they cannot vote there. if they move to romania they first have to become official/full citizens, and probably live a certain time in romania before getting voting rights.
