I want to write today about a topic which is no doubt of great interest to budding young eRepublikans: Congress, and what it does.

1. What Congress Does: Congress votes on legislation regarding key issues such as minimum wage and mutual protection pacts. In-game congress has a very limited scope, and that's because the Congress in-game is in fact the House of Commons, which sits in session on the forums.

I don't know if we can make that any clearer. The forums are found at forums.erepublik.co.uk where you can chat about eRepublik, ask experienced members for advice, and even conduct a public discussion about policy with your local congress member.

ALL LAWS MUST BE PROPOSED ON THE FORUMS, NOT IN-GAME

2. What Congressmen Do: In addition to the formal role of passing laws, Congress also represents some of the UK's brightest and best. Many congressmen run businesses, or are experienced soldiers. This kind of experience is valuable for those who want to go into those fields. Some congressmen are write popular newspapers, and many would be willing to publish your articles if you can't afford one of your own.

The one thing all MPs are supposed to do though is look after you. If you're not sure who your local congressman is, PM me and I will forward you their name. Your MP will ensure you get your NHS treatment, will give you advice, protect you at work and organise competitions and prizes for you.

3.How to become a Congress Member: To become a congressman you need to join a party. You then need to join the Forums at forums.erepublik.co.uk and tell your party that you want to stand.

TO BECOME A CONGRESSMAN YOU NEED TO BE ON THE FORUMS

With that out of the way, you need to go to your party page and click 'stand for congress'. To do this you need to be level 12 or above, so you need to be around a month old at the youngest, and active. In reality, it is best if you are on the forums at least one month before standing so you understand important issues such as ATLANTIS, the NHS, the House of Lords and Ministries that are not easy to understand if you're only involved in-game. The best way to do this is to take the CORE exams:

Completing these exams successfully will be a sign that you have matured enough as a citizen to stand for congress, and will greatly increase your chances of advancement within your party.
