Day 2,568, 11:06 Published in Italy Croatia by Squatriota
Facts
Today, I want to tell you a story. The story of Julien Thierry, alias Ruurk, living in the UK, coming from France, the boss of Eclypsia, a french gaming webtv, that counts more than 100k subscribers on its youtube channel. Bloody big deal.
He has got an idea in min😛 the gamification. He wants to add a gaming platform to his streaming platform, developing a social game, setted in Middle Ages, to play with, together with his community. But he needs infos, so he starts testing browser games, far and wide, high and low on Internet. He joins eRepublik in 2009, and now our paths meet: on 28 november, he shares a post, on his Facebook and Twitter profiles, with a link: the referring link, to start playing eRepublik.
Shortly, three parties and a MU got create😛 time is ripe for the invasion.
The same day, 266 people join eRepublik, in France, and we are just at the beginning: France reaches 3500 citizens, and Ruurk’s party reaches 600 members: we can bear witness of the most violent and brutal babyboom on eRepublik, folks.
So, now we have some three parties linked to Ecylpsia's team:
Eclypsia (in France, with 700 members), which appointed Ruurk as candidate;
EclypsiaBE (in Belgium, with 100 members), which appointed e Vladmir as candidate[/url];
EclypsiaIT (from Italy, with four members), which appointed first ECAeterna, then roccowilfredi sa candidate, both banned.

New comers of the last week, in Italy, France and Belgium.
Following, two interviews, to Ruurk, and to benjiparis, a french player, to hear both side of the story. Enjoy the read.

Inverviews
Namasté Ruurk Rage. First of all, introduce yourself.
I'm Julien "Ruurk" Thierry, founder and CEO of Eclypsia, one of the biggest video game portal in France.

Why have you decided to join eRepublik?
We decided to join erepublik because with my team of streamers we are testing a lot of games to "stream it" and to play with our community, we choose eRepublik for the next 3 months.

Someone says that you want to test eRepublik possibilities to develop a game. Is that true?
We are developing Gamification in Eclypsia, it's not incompatible. We are doing a RPG game with one char, not an economic game with politic. But yes it's true i tested all the free to play like Erep to have ideas before, but no it's not true we are playing Erep only for this, we dont ask 2K people to come to play with you, without earning any money for "testing".

How did you manage to get your party reach 600 members in two days?
We are famous streamers (like twitch.tv) but in a french channel I launched, EclypsiaTV. For example right now, we have more than 8000 current viewers.

Don’t you find that your action seems as an invasion, and don’t you find it a bit unfair?
I dont understand how, this game is a social game, the more we are, the more the game is fun, political, and economical.
And we are all DIV I, so we cant really do something huge at this moment.
The actual president of France is already in my party, and he will be my vice president, he knew me before I came in erepublik, and he trust me to lead the country.
I took 2 ministors of the actual government.
I started Erep in 2009, and I played it a few days/weeks every year and I know this game. And all our communitys had a tutorial, and the wiki.

How is your project going?
Our different account starting to be banned, because we are playing from office, so right now two of us are banned. Pretty sure i'm gonna be banned in a few, because eRep can’t understand we are just in the same office, streaming the same game, and playing it from home aswell, in our different accounts. We will propably all leave the game, our community is really active, tomorow we gonna do a stream and ask all the players to stop.

Why?
We came to have fun, with your community, but due to this unfair ban, two of us have their accounts "frozen", with more than 200 refferer, and can't play anymore! We are working in the same company, and playing all together, and we're all playing except of them, who are only watching us playing. It's not fair for us!

Namasté Benjiparis. First of all, introduce yourself to the readers.
Hi o/ , So i'm a french Citizen since fev 2012 , I've been quite active in French Politic ( congres , and also governement , especcally MoD ) this last 2 years.

What do you think about the massive BabyBoom that the France got in the last couple days?
On one hand , it can be seen like a awesome opportunity. France has now more than 3500 citizen, but on the other side , the intention of these people aren't very clear: they are on the game for only 48 H and they allready planned to become CP. And this not only in France…Also in two other countries, Belgium and Italy.
They do'nt take time to become integrated into the community, they don't take time to know history of the country, time to know how exactlly the game works: it's quite like an "Invasion".

If you could send a message to Ruurk, what would you say to him?
To accept the help of current governement / community. Improve communication between their community and the other one: there is a forum in eFrance , some IRC chan , a Ministery of Education, who helps the new player. We want to "cooperate" with him.

Has French Government do something to reduce the risks of this "invasion", and to integrate the newcomers?
Ruurk will be elected next mounth, that's for sure. So I just hope he won't mess up everything (diplomatie, ally, war declaration, ecc…). And yes , like I told before, eFrance has a lot a Structure for the Baby player: we have some special MUs for the new player, whe have an IRC channel, tutorials, a forum but currently all these young player are only following their "leader", Ruurk; they use their own chan, for example.

Thank you.
🙂

A short critical analyze upon these facts

Massimo Recalcati is an italian lacanian psychologist, and he described two models of society.
The first one, is the model of our grandfather and our ancestors’: a closed society, in which newcomers had to accept and adapt to the rules of their father. We can find an example of this type of society in the Roman Empire, in which peope believed in a system of values called “mos maiorum”, that stands for “ancestors’ traditions”; among them, there was the “pietas”, an untranslatable word, that establish the duty for sons to pay respect and love their parents. Tons of latin writers (like Sallustio, or Catone) criticized their ages, recommending people to return to the ancient values and tradition; in conclusion, they believed that children had to respect and obey to the past.
But, if young people are live-wire, and wants to modify society, this model obviously create a struggle: the past verus the new. Recalcati talks about Edipus, who killed his father, but I think it would be more fit to talk about Tommaso Marinetti, a totally insane and cool guy, who developed an anvant-garde and sick style of writing (called “Futurism”) and write a manifesto, in which he talked about burning academies and libraries, who put men in a cage, made of respect to the past, who overwhelms him and fighting the fogyism. Another example of the struggle against the past can be found in Nietzsche, who described himself as a hammer, made to strike ancient believings to bring to the twilight of the idols, to prepare a blank slate of values, to let the ubermensch create its own.
In the second type of society there is the statement of new values, but, this time, there isn’t a struggle: the parents adapt their life to sons, the society adapts itself to the newcomers. This is what happen in most of our families, and in our art academies, in which newcomers are totally free to express themselves, and they don’t have to follow any rules. This may sound a godsend, but I don’t think so; I may sound a romantic, but I think that masterpieces and revolutionary models of society got built after a conflict with establishment and rules: Lars von Trier showed it to us with his film “De fem benspænd”, a documentary that portays the director Jørgen Leth realizing the same short film five times, each time having to respect some different rules that make hard his task.
So, if burning a library could be an exaggerate act, maybe we should find a middle way. We have the same problem here, on eRepublik, with a horde of new players who ignore the rules of their new communities and who already claims for power. Beyong “good” or “bad”, categories without any sense here, I think it would be unfair to force the newcomers to play with our rules, and it may be counter-productive. Maybe we aren’t even able to do it. But I think it would be unfair at the same way to destroy what we have build in this year, on eRepublik.
In my opinion, the solution to the problem can be found in the Eneide, an epic poem written by Virgilio, in the same world told by Homer in the Iliad.
If Newton, quoting Bernando da Chiaravalle, stated that men are like dwarfs on the shoulders of giants, Enea takes his father Anchise on his shoulders, and save from the burning and falling Troy; at the same way, I think that newcomers have a though task: to embrace and lift the establishment, rescuing it from the oblivion: modifying it, but don’t forgetting it, integrating in society and improving it at the same time.
In this there is a huge lack of communition, mostly of the Eclypsia team, which, in my opinion, should have talked with all the three countries governments, and think out a way to make the newcomers being taught and integrated into those countries.
