The Christmas Speech

Day 1,861, 03:55 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Mr Woldy

Merry Christmas!

Go open presents and what not and eat Turkey and stuffing, and my personal favourite, brussel sprouts. Whilst your doing it, be sure to check for the next episode of Bob Save the King which aired December the 14th.

As a side note, I have been on holiday and remain on holiday, taking a brief holiday from my holiday to publish this, so sorry if I haven't replied to any of the many PM's waiting for me, and sorry that it's taken me over a week to alert you in-gamers to our crimbo podcast. I've been busy guzzling gluhwein.

The podcast can be found here: http://bobsavetheking.podbean.com

And as always, any and all feedback is welcome.

The Speech

Since I was appointed King of the eUK, I have strived to publish a short speech each Christmas, mimicking our real-life Monarchs. It goes without saying that this has been a busy and eventful year for the eUK, both at home and abroad. That is the nature of this game, and whether through war or simple bickering we keep ourselves interested in a variety of ways.

Some of us get involved with high politics, finding enjoyment in the running of states and alliances, others involve themselves primarily with our own parliament or domestic ministries, others perhaps play from a more party political perspective, and some play solely for the military aspect of the game.

Although you may say that we ‘play different games within the game’, as some e-thinkers assert, it is fair to say that within our national boundaries we all have a unifying objective; advancing the eUK community (or for foreign readers – your own national communities). Here we can take ‘the eUK’ and ‘eUK community’ to be synonymous. Those in high politics work to maintain good alliances, those in domestics work to maintain a healthy zeitgeist and population, as do Parliament who also create an avenue for involvement and means of keeping the administration in check. Even those involved in party politics help further a nation, simply by encouraging pluralism and debate as well as creating micro communities.

It is important to remember however, that we are all jigsaw pieces, who slot together to form a bigger picture. We work towards a bigger whole, and it is that fact that people everywhere can often forget; that we work for the benefit of a national community. It can also become damaging to work solely towards furthering the aims of one of the microcommunities we function in – whether it be a party, MU or whatever, we must remain aware that our country needs to come first, and fractionalism can damage our overarching national objective.

So, whilst we enjoy crimbo, open pressies, eat turkey and tidy up mess (=__🙂 we can look forward to returning to an eUK in which we can all be happy bunnies. Let’s play down animosity and petty accusations and rivalries, and remember that we are all in it together. Hopefully we can generate a truly positive environment in which it is simply fun to play, and see an end to squabbling and negativity which has turned many countries sour.

And now for another bad parody

~Rocking around the ingame feed,
at the eUK bus stop.
Mistletoe hung and you can see,
Goku wants a snog...

Rocking around the ingame feed,
And up pops the e-King,
Later we'll keeep asking why,
and we'll do some revolting.

You will get a unsettling feeling When you hear,
voices screaming; "Let's be jolly; Deck parliament with bills of folly",
Rocking around the ingame feed,
Have a happy holiday.
Keers is dancing with Sir Nick,
And Jimbojoy has gone astray.

Rocking around the ingame feed,
Let the Christmas pudding flow,
Later we'll have a big booze-up,
and we'll not remember what we know.~

Merry Crimbo eUK \o/
