Ten Easy Ways To Avoid Paying Taxes
The Libertine
The article is in response to Congress increasing income tax from 15% to 25% without any public notice or discussion in-game (ie off forum).
Congress suggests that this change will reduce overall tax revenue, because a decrease in VAT will eventually be added, but what the change really does is shift the tax burden onto 2-clickers in order to benefit those that already work tax-free in military/militia communes.
Well, if working tax-free is fine for the military, then it is fine for everyone else too!
Let's begin....
1) Takeover Congress and lower taxes
Do this opposite of this this, this, this, and this~
2) RAGE
3) Find an employer that will coordinate a min-wage direct pay system.
There are many ways to go about this, but here is the basic structure:
Step 1 - Find an employer that will do this first.
Step 2 - Take a job at their company at minimum wage ($1 a day). It is difficult to find a specific job at $1 on the job market manually (because of the abundance of offers), so what you want to do is get the link to the hiring page of the specific company (ie this page). It will have a "link" button to send you to the exact job offer, so no wild goose hunt on the job market pages is needed.
Step 3 - Agree to the terms. If the job market wage is at $160 and income tax is at 25% then you would normally be taking home $120. You employer may agree to pay you $140 a day by donation instead, saving the employer $20 and allowing the worker to take home $20 more! A static (unchanging) wage can be agreed to, or wages can be tied to the job market (ie $10 or $20 less than the top job market offer).
Step 4 - Set up a reimbursement schedule. Donations can be sent daily, weekly, and in advance, or at the end of a cycle of work. Find what works best for you and your employer.
Step 5 - Remember to work everyday, like a good tax cheating worker
😃
Total taxes avoided (per day): about $40, with the worker taking home half of that and the employer keeping the other half (actual amount saved depends on the wage agreed to, of course)
4) Find an employer that will coordinate a min-wage profit sharing system.
Follow step one and two from the min-wage direct pay system.
Step 3 - Agree to the terms. "Profit sharing" is where a company's profit is calculated at the end of the week (with all workers working at $1 a day) and (most of) the profit is distributed in lump sums to all workers. This helps tie wages to weekly profit so that workers receive more during strong market times and less when the market is weak. It is slightly "high risk, high reward" but more than anything it is helpful in ensuring that a business owner is able to control costs in the long run and not over extend their business by promising certain wages while the market may be nose diving.
Step 4 - Figure out when pay day is!
Step 5 - Remember to work everyday, like a good tax cheating worker
😃
Total taxes avoided (per day): No idea. Try it out!
5) Find an employer that will coordinate a min-wage goods donation system.
Follow step one and two from the min-wage direct pay system.
Step 3 - Agree to the terms. Goods donation systems work by exchanging goods rather than pay in return for work at minimum wage. This helps avoid both the income tax ~and~ the VAT!
Step 4 - Set up a reimbursement schedule. For example, I pay one of my workers 6 tanks a day for their min-wage work in my tank company (about $180 worth of tanks per day). I donate the tanks upfront and I donate a week worth of tanks. I do this because I trust the worker to make sure to log in and work each and every day. Up-front payments are risky if the worker is not reliable. An upfront goods sharing plan can work out great for both parties involved. My worker gets a bushel of tanks to use during the week, mutual trust is built up, and I don't need to worry about changes in job market wages or in the amount of Weapons Bonus Regions. I send 42 tanks and in return I get a week of free work. It may not be the most profitable set up, but it is probably the ~cleanest~ set up, and, as I mentioned, it helps you avoid two taxes at once.
Total taxes avoided (per day): In simplified terms...about $52. This is the original $40 avoided by not paying a market wage, plus $12 saved by a worker not having to pay the approximate $2 per tank VAT for six tanks a day. (This all changes based on the type and amount of goods transferred.)
6) Buy black market goods.
All you have to do is go to the market page for Q5 weapons (or anything else), find a seller, PM them that you would like to pay $1 to $2 less than market price but pay by donation to avoid the VAT, and they will likely gladly agree to the arrangement.
In fact, feel free to PM me if you are interested in some VAT-free tanks.
😃
7) Move to Poland~
They have 1% Income tax in all industries and 1% VAT on weapons (20% VAT on food).
8 ) Join a military/militia group.
You will work at min wage in a commune, but since they receive government funding you will receive more goods in return for your work then you would ever be able to purchase with a market wage or receive in a tax-avoiding work plan. Depending on the group, you will likely receive about $250 to $300 or more worth of food and weapons per day for your labor.
But in return you have to fight where they tell you to. And log in to IRC (or fill out a form and wait all day) to receive supplies.
Hopefully MUs will allow built-in goods distribution eventually.
9) Refuse to work. Yay Anarchy!
Then beg Pfeiffer for free stuff.
10) Quit eRep. ^_~

As easy as we joined A N O N Y M O U S, we can quit. So please change the signature and don´t try this again.
Holy macaroni!
#9 is not gonna happen and...
#10 almost happened a couple of times.
#8 (lol, you forgot the smiley thing) is what we do or is it #5? No wait! It's a mixture of both. And we do it WITHOUT OMS SUPPORT. 100 q5 food or 10 q5 tanks (if you've got yer own food supply). + friends to help you grow your business and become profitable too. No roll calls, no IRC (unless you just want to talk) and no special orders, unless it's a national emergency. PP is totally self supporting and self funded, we also like to help others when we can too. We're just nuts like that. Imagine a MU that donates to others.
For the record, half of the suggestions are fer lulz
Raising taxes are good, it is getting people involved into the game. Now they are looking for ways to avoid paying taxes which is fine, because it means they are playing the game even more than just clicking a few times a day.
good stuff!

"Raising taxes are good, it is getting people involved into the game..."
I love it because it doesn't affect me and it's funny to watch both sides bicker about it. Kind of like a soap opera.
we perfected this in eAustralia 18 months ago when Indonesia PTOd us for 5 months lol
#10 it is.
#8 = Best Plan \o/
I enjoy #8.
Point 10 is the best 😃D

"Raising taxes are good, it is getting people involved into the game..."
It probably won't, and it will probably push people who wouldn't be involved even farther away. Apathetic people aren't going to get involved if they don't feel like it, forcing them to do it is just going to make them give up.
@ s0beit
I think you are wrong, people take action when they find something that is unfair, that is the human nature. For example: If a country raises their taxes to 70% then more people would vote if they had 20% in taxes. People don´t give up the game cause of taxes, they just don´t find the game fun.

Starve the beast!
"People don´t give up the game cause of taxes, they just don´t find the game fun."
People surely won't rage-quit the game because of taxes. They will quit it because they'll get bored with saluting a bunch of control-freaks holding the personal progress of the rest back.
A^A for dog catcher!
Run the bums (Senators) out of town!
Anarchy rules! (an oxymoron at best)
Yawn...
move to country X with lower taxes, get a job, return to the US. Assuming income tax is $40 a day, and moving is $40 a zone including return, you'll soon make you money back.
The change in taxes will help
1) Actives
2) MU Members
3) Inactives with many firms
The change in taxes will hurt
1) Inactives with few firms
The change in taxes will without any doubt:
-Increase economic activity and production
-Increase overall efficiency
As SecTreas, I whole-heartedly encourage to use all the dirty tricks to avoid taxes. We want to tax the inactives, not the actives.
I seriously contest that it will "Increase economic activity and production", in fact I'd call that flat out false. Only one way to find out, I suppose.
And yes, it will help SOME existing members. Remember for a moment that the "actives" you're talking about aren't all in communes. In fact I would say a minority of them are actually in communes.
This is nothing more than the government trying to force their hands, they could have done this at any time in the game's history yet didn't because they didn't want to kill what little fun the game had left. Now they're trying to murder that too.
And remember, folks, don't EVER vote for any of those who said "yes" to the tax. Unless, of course, you fancy 50% next month.

"Raising taxes are good, it is getting people involved into the game."
Really?? What an idiotic statement.
I log in, and I produce food and weapons. Then I work my pay job. Then I buy what food I can with the money I earned. Then I fight as many battles as I can. I log in again later in the day and fight more battles until my food runs out. Wash, rinse, and repeat every day.
Raising taxes lowers my income which means I can buy less food. Less food means I fight in fewer battles. Fewer battles means I'm less involved with the game not more.
Whoever came up with the convoluted logic to justify a tax increase like this needs to pull their head out of their ass. Raising taxes is just as big a job and production killer in a sim as it is in RL. And just like RL it's always just some agenda to take from some and give to others.
I'm just a casual player but I do play every day. The US wants to reduce my playing time by reducing my income, no prob...there are plenty of other countries that are more player friendly.
At least Kemal still likes me despite my evil ways!
3) Find an employer that will coordinate a min-wage direct pay system.
Ok, this is a good point, but the congress has the power to modify also the minimum wage, and they will do, it has already happened in the past.

What a load of crap. You want to take money from those who don't play the game the way you want them to and dole it out to those you find worthy.
