Rareonce Literary Contest: Test-Drive Edition

Day 2,335, 09:46 Published in USA USA by ResouIa

Hello readers and welcome to Rareonce!

If you have read my previous article, you know I hope to start a literary contest here on eRepublik and you know how I planned for it all to work! Well I am here to announce that I have personally seen enough interest to possibly get at least one active category running, and therefore have decided to test the idea of the Rareonce Literary Contest before trying to make it a planned rotating thing.

To do so I have created this, RareLit's testdrive contest! Below I shall re-explain the contest and how it is going to work, name the eligible categories for submissions, go over rewards, and list the rules. I really am looking forward to seeing if this test-drive edition proves to be fruitful so I can turn this contest into a regular thing! So thanks for joining me today and I really hope a good amount of you would like to participate; if not submit work, then at least stick around to vote for the winners!

NOTE that this contest is open to any eCitizen within eRepublik.

The Rareonce Literary Contest is an idea I had to create a community of literary artists who could share their work and critique the work of their peers, all while competing for rewards! Of course the REWARDS are currently limited by my wallet and undecided what they will be regularly if this test-drive edition works; however I am almost certain that for this test-drive edition I shall be handing out some sort of mixture of food and tanks to category winners.

Several CATEGORIES will be available to submit your work to, currently they are not all decided upon, and I am open to suggestions for more, but I have laid out four basic categories unto which will be in this competition. There will be a poetry category, a short story category, a screenplay category, and a journalism category. All of these will be listed in the next section with their requirements. I had another idea for a cateogry, a memoir category, however this shall only be added if eCitizens come to me showing enough interest to create a successful competing category out of it.

SUBMISSIONS! Okay this bit is very important! Currently to submit your work to this contest It will be required that you PM it directly to me, whether it be your submission as it is, or perhaps a link leading to it- or if you need to submit a file, then request an email address from me and I shall provide one for you to submit your work to the contest. In the future if this prove to be a successful trial run, then I may change the submission process to including a form of a sort, but for now you MUST submit your work directly to me, while also informing me what category you are submitting it to. (If you'd like to send me a link to a submission but don't know where to put your work for me to see, I personally reccommend DeviantArt.)

The SCHEDULE for this contest will basically go as such. Submissions will be allowed officially until 11:59PM EST on Wednesday, 4/16/2014. However I may allow more submissions if they come in before voting starts. Voting will go from the following Thursday up until the afternoon of Sunday, 4/20/2014, when I will announce the winners and hand out their prizes.

VOTING works like this. Submissions currently will be judged by the ERepublik community through a system of voting on the forums. A thread shall be posted for each category and winners shall be decided by majority vote. (This process may be changed after this test-drive edition or even at the very end if it proves to be unsuccessful.)
Category Eligibility

Poetry
Currently no restrictions. Can be of any length and of any form. (However if I get something too ridiculous like 20 pages of a poem then I may have to change this.)

Short Story
Currently limited to 11,000 words.
Up to R rated content allowed. Any X rated content will have to be minor and reviewed by myself and two others I ask to review with me, to decided if this is appropriate to submit to this contest or not.

Screenplay
Currently same restrictions as the Short Story category.

Journalism
MUST be an ERepublik article reporting on some event using factual information. Political journalism is allowed. Speculative articles must be reviewed first by myself and two others. (If enough interest is shown to allow journalism from off-site, then this category shall be expanded.)

#2. All submissions must be made with the inclusion of where you wish to submit your literary work to.
