The Rareonce Literary Proposal

Greetings to all and welcome to Rareonce!

I have been wondering recently, "what exactly should I do with my newspaper"? And earlier today an article caught my eye, the DoE is bringing back an old contest known as "Writer of the Week", which gives rewards to three writers of any articles that they feel are done extremely well; all as a program intended to encourage the community to take advantage of the media more often and to more commonly produce articles.

That's when I hatched my idea! To do something similar but different all the same! Yet I would first like to see if my idea would get enough interest among the citizens of the eWorld before I actually attempt this.

My idea is to set up exactly what the DoE set up, a writing contest! However I do not mean writing as they mean it; what I mean is a literary writing contest. What I propose is that perhaps through comments and private messages, citizens of the eWorld could submit one of many literary works such as a piece of poetry, a short story or an excerpt of one, or perhaps even screenplays.

After spending maybe a week or so collecting submissions I will put these submissions, or some of these submissions up onto the forum (Some/All depending on how many I receive), and then let the eRepublik community vote on what they think is the best literary work (or just vote for their favorite)- which I plan on splitting up into categories (One category for poetry, another for fiction, perhaps nonfiction; maybe even a journalism section to echo that of what the DoE already has set up).

The winners of each category would then be announced in an article of the "Rareonce Literary" and the winners then would each receive some sort of reward- whether it be tanks, food, maybe gold? Whatever reward I can afford to provide while maintaining the contest every week/two weeks/month depending on what schedule I decide on.
That is my proposal for the Rareonce Literary. It would really be nice to hear from everybody who would be interested in participating in a contest like this whether it be down in the comments or a private message directly to myself- or even simply by hitting the vote button to show you'd be interested to read it at least. Any suggestions will also be taken to help me make some of these decisions such as, how often to announce winners? (My current hope is to make it a bi-weekly event.) Also I wasn't sure if I should base this off of a voter turnout, a judge turnout, or a mix of the two; so suggestions on that will also be appreciated.

My overall hope with this proposal is that many of you will be interested in simply participating and to form a nice little community of literary artists who can have fun, get to share their work with others, and even make a profit in the process!
