Prime Minister Questions Day 1570 [Red]

Day 1,570, 14:57 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by National Newspaper Association
Today, the British Prime Minister took some time out of his busy schedule to answer a few questions from his constituents. He has said he hopes to do this weekly, and the next day for Government Q&A (not to be confused with T&A) will be announced via the Home Office News We were lucky enough to get the minutes, and here's a shortened summary for you:

From anonymous: What are you doing that will improve the military in ways that Military Units now might be not already doing?

Talon Karrde Two main thrusts here (that's what she said). First, we'll be able to offer more in the way of supplies than MUs can currently offer (or that's the hope), potentially increasing our damage. Second and completely different, we'll be giving people a national identity, one in which they get to work with the political and military 'top' of the nation, by which I mean those with the responsibility at the moment and give more opportunities for them to be active.

ApronChef: Which do you prefer: Edam or Brie.

Talon Karrde: brie

Lily Summers: I heard there was an Irish peace treaty being created with the Irish CP, is this true?

Talon Karrde: No that's news to me if so. I'm happy to talk to Ireland, Canada and France about peace but I've had no concrete proposal from them.

Big Ant What steps will be taken to promote our National MU further to increase numbers, activity and all round better communication?
Talon Karrde: Well, there are a few things we're doing with this. numbers wise, PMing is the best and quickest way to get new members, so we'll be mass PMing all MUs that don't offer supplies about the national MU and what it does to see if people want to join. Activity wise if people want the supplies, IRC activity is a requirement, so we're hoping that'll entice some people onto here. Strikes will be called when needed too, so if people are around more they're more likely to get the extra supplies. Communication wise, daily orders articles are a must. We need to be explaining why we are fighting where we are.

Additionally, We've already started to try and organise strikes within our national citizen MU, which we're providing weapons for full food fights for those who show up on IRC.

Prof Moriarty: Would like to know, Blue or Red?
Talon Karrde: Ask me when I'm not CP :3
Dishmcds: So, taking the American Fifth Amendment then?
Talon Karrde: Executive privilege \o/
Dishmcds: Duly noted, Mr Nixon.

From Anonymous, and not the hacker version: In terms of importance, what parts of economic behaviour in the eUK are you wanting to promote, and which parts do you wish to see less of?
Talon Karrde: I'd personally like us to be cautious going forwards.
There's a danger in importing large amounts of products from abroad as it impacts on what the bot buys, so we need to be careful in buying and selling on our markets. On the other hand, I would like to try and reduce the price on our goods making things more accessible to newer players, and helping them get self sufficient quicker.

Dishmcds: I'd like to add one small bit, from an MoHA standpoint, the sooner we can adjust taxes (get Congress) and make things cheaper, it'll be much more efficient and easier to help new players when they join.

Lily Summers: How likely is it that we will have a congress this month? And if so, will we have ONE's support?

Talon Karrde: I rate our chances at about 50% at the moment. It's highly dependant on several factors, like the disposition of Ireland, France and Canada to negotiating, how organised we all are with tactics and ONE's state. Support wise, yes we will, but will it be worth much to us? I'm about as convinced as you are on that one.

Dishmcds: I'd like to add that we plan on being much more proactive this month than we were last month, both from an MoD standpoint and MoHA standpoint, we'll be doing handouts along with MoD, taking donations, etc to try and get every ounce of damage we can.

WaterTempleFien😛 Do you think that eUK will be able to take back our homeland with brute force or through peace treaties and diplomatic reasoning?

Talon Karrde: Through brute force is a funny one, because we don't have any. We aren't a big or strong country, so that's pretty much out of the question. Treaty wise, that's more possible, but again it depends on more than just us. These things can be quite delicate.

Hacker: In a worst case scenario; both congress and efficient non-congress dependent income fail to occur, is there any backup plan for funding this new national military unit?

Talon Karrde: Yes there is, and in fact it's the same plan we're using right now. We're getting our WRM for free thanks to some very cool members of our community, which is why I opted for a 'get what you make' supply method. The one thing I don't want to do is deplete our gold reserves too much so the system we have at the moment is a pretty good one.

Patrick O Leary:In terms of a diplomatic solution to the end of the war, are you waiting for your opponents to come to the table, or have you made any efforts yourselves to begin the process?
Talon Karrde: I've been proactive, I and my MoFA team have actually messaged every country in the game, including of course those currently occupying us. The lines of communication are open, and while I can't really go into too much detail with it, but yes we are talking to them.

DEARGODIFORGOTWHOASKEDTHIS: On a military note, do you wish to promote military careers and behaviour, over more economic centric people, ofcourse the military people will be trained to be self-efficient, but is it more so important for the new players, and current economic players to become soldiers?

Talon Karrde: Well, I think we need to play the game we're in. It's more or less a wargame by design, with the entire economy built to facilitate that with weapons and food, so naturally we need to point people in that direction. That said, I think everyone should be encouraged to play in a way that they enjoy, and purely economic players can certainly have their uses too. People like Emergy and Keers with their vast fields of companies that are hugely beneficial to us too, though they're great examples as they're also strong so perhaps a balance is needed and should be encouraged.

Dishmcds: I have always felt it better to encourage an Economic base first, as it allows you to purchase your own products and makes you more self sufficient, so I'd probably encourage anyone, from an MoHA standpoint to fight with food only and spend your money on companies first. Once you develop enough income to afford food+weapons for your full rations, you're more capable of fighting and leveling more often at that point. IN mentoring, we're probably aiming that way, although certainly maximising damage from our new players is important as well.

Betafoxtrot: I know you spoke about improving the military and a little on MUs, would you be able to go into any more details on plans, if any, to utilise them for damage and suppliment the National Military?

Dishmcds: Basically, we're trying to get all our independent MU's together to focus their damage into one large unit, while allowing them to retain their identities. They've worked hard to be as successful as they are, so it'd be foolish to ask them to rejoin the military, as many would prefer the private community. The Alliance is an independent Organisation that communicates with each MU, and tries to coordinate all their damage, improve strikes and supplies (to those who show up on IRC for the most part, among other things), yet focuses the damage where the UK and her allies need it.

ApronChef: This is a more Gov Vs Private; Do you consider organisations like The Trade Federation, whom recently took an international title rather than an eUK based one, an issue as there are a few TF members and officials who may show loyalty towards TF, rather than the eUK, damaging to the National Identity plan?

Talon Karrde: Well, we've seen issues with this before in Titansmash who got lambasted for fighting for TEDEN countries, while being in military command. So it was a bit of a conflict of interest. That said, I have no problem with what people do, just so long as they're conscious that if they take a position of responsibility they're expected to put it and the country first and respect the government's position. I don't think it's damaging though

We'd like to thank everyone for solid questions. I'd say this first sessions was rather good, and hopefully we can do this once per week to increase communication. You'll always find relevent information to the times and dates in the articles released from the eUK Home Office, so stay tuned!
