President Evil - Give Peace A(nother) Chance

A few days ago, I tried to end the Training War with Ireland, since the messages from our allies asking for assistance were starting to pile up, given the massive attack on Serbia, the Polish invasion of Russia, Venezuela fighting Colombia, Latvia and Estonia fighting Finland, and many others. We unfortunately failed to do so, since Ireland’s congress rejected it, and their President failed to convince them otherwise. Because of these failings, the war escalated, as we tried a different approach to end the war. I’d hoped a swift wipe would bring about a quick end to the war, so we could focus on other matters.
Obviously, that didn’t happen.
What Ireland lacks in effective control in their government, they make up for in throwing everything into a fight. And I mean everything, they have really been digging in here. They’ve been spending a small fortune on supplies, calling in their new allies, throwing both the proverbial and literal kitchen sinks at it.
Which is why when their President approached me yesterday regarding another attempt at the peace deal, I was somewhat relieved. As I said in my last article, I don’t want to remembered as the man who ended a year of peace with Ireland. The UK and Ireland are bros, but like all good brothers, we need to have a fight every now and then.
I have spoken with the Irish President, and we have agreed to give this newfangled peace between us another try. we’ll have a few days of going back into Training War mode, with us only fighting for our original regions, and them for theirs, and in a few days, our newly elected congresses will have another round of votes for peace.
Until then, we will not pursue battles in Irish original regions, and they will not pursue battles in our original regions. Which is good, since the messages from our allies asking for assistance are continuing to pile up, and some are getting a bit more desperate.
Poland dun gon goofed.
Poland had a plan. When their war with Russia took them to the Chinese border, they were going to hit first, and begin their invasion of China, the last bastion of EDEN. Unfortunately, one of their congress members missed the memo, and proposed no NE instead of China. And this has been bad news, it meant that China got the first strike against Poland, which meant that China has been able to open battles against Poland at times favourable to them, and as such, Poland have yet to win a battle against China. It will take all the fight Poland has in order to turn this around, which is why they’ll need our help now more than ever.
The Croats are Coming!
Ever since Croatia wiped India, in a painful double-kick-in-the-proverbials after their treasury was also stolen, a concern amongst the nations of TWO and ACT would be that the next step on their trail of international dickery would be Thailand, both for their Oil region, and as a route into Oceania, where they’d stand a good chance of occupying the Gold mine, which as I write is actually a very close contest between Australia and New Zealand.
Our fears have come to pass, and Croatia have declared Thailand their Natural Enemy. Thailand are a nation of ACT, the Associated Countries of TWO, and as such, we will be rendering assistance in their time of need, so an MPP between our countries has been proposed. I ask all our congress members to approve this, so we can help our Thai friends and allies against Croatia, a nation which exists solely for the purpose of ruining people’s day.

It’s just the traditional end-of-term blow out, let the outgoing congress members have a bit of a party and trash the office, the new guys will clear it up.

Tbf, you did state that it would become a real war IF the NE proposal against Spain passed. It didn't, and yet it became a real war anyway.
Nice to see the average citizen of Ireland being given some leeway after suffering a foolish congress more content to fight each other and damage the nation to tarnish the other sides party than protecting the safety of their own country.
The TW came at a bad time, not your fault that alliance politics were headed into a busy period, but when we have allies in need of help it's better to concentrate on them.
Still feel you've dealt with this pretty well though tbf, and hope the peace can go through so we can get back to helping in vital battles ^ _ ^

It's untruthful though because you imply that we were going to go to war if it passed, it didn't but we wanted to go to war so badly we did it anyway rather than the fact we had good reason went to war. If anyone read this and didn't see the MoFA article then they'd think we're loose cannons.
Sure, I implied that. However it's not untruthful in the slightest because after all that is precisely what our president said and implied himself. I didn't make the implication, I merely commented on it.
As for the other reasons, I personally think that they were rather meaningless. To complain that ACT wasn't on the referendum and that TWO is annoyed that Ireland joined what is meant to be a defensive alliance, When we ourselves didn't even get a referendum is p. hypocritical. Let alone the whole meddling in the internal affairs of a sovereign nation feeling far too self righteous and intrusive in my opinion, even if I can agree that the Irish people deserved a more open referendum, that's for them to complain about, not for us to attempt to enforce.
If you read this article BaE echos the reasons stated in the MoFA article. If you read the MoFA article you'd see it wasn't about the referendum...
