Political Tar pit

Day 2,965, 14:58 Published in Ireland Ireland by Sweet Drinker

So the eIrish roleplayCP elections are nearly upon us
(yes we are mechanically a dictatorship, therefore the government system we're using is roleplay)
and we seem to have two candidates.

Now I do not wish to criticize either of these candidates. Nobody else wants that foul job atm, these 2 deserve thanks and respect for offering to take it on.
But I'd like to combine their campaign articles along with some recent congress activity stats to highlight a situation.

I'm a member of Congress thread A this term and in the 7days its been open, other than some obvious rubberstamp MPPs, a few "happy new years" and a brief "where Sweet is hitting" conversation, the only thing our 1/2 of the roleplayCongress has discussed is the management procedures of our roleplayGovernment.
We've gotten no word of important discussions from thread B. Presumably because there is none there either.
In short; in Congress your government has done nothing but talk about itself for the 1st 1/4 its been in session.

Now for the CP election articles:

Should you elect Elite C to a second term, he promises to make the redrafting of our roleplayGovernment procedures our main priority.

Choose Cat Boyd this election and alongside an increase in player created minigames, he promises to make the ressurrection of an abandoned wing of roleplayGovernment our primary objective.

So either way, we should expect a government more focused on facilitating its own roleplay than improving the prosperity of its citizens.

Hey, marks to the current administration for organising the Canada TW. Its the right move to make, but it doesn't really constitute an idea. Providing citizens battle opportunities is just part of the job nowadays.

Remember when we used to talk about real ideas? Ways of impacting the actual mechanics of erepublik? Making our citizens wealthier and stronger? Ways of overcoming problems and adversaries not of our own making?

Years ago flexibility & innovative ideas were all that kept eIreland on the map.
Now we have no flexibility, and all innovation seems to be devoted to formalizing that rigidity.

In the end it will not be my place or yours to judge how well government has spent their time.
It is for our future foes to decide if eIreland's roleplayGovernment is valid in the real game of Erepublik.
