PointBank Bonds and US War Strategy

Day 1,483, 03:35 Published in USA USA by Tosh O'Point

Today's news will focus mostly on the military campaign against Poland, and my views on where we should go from here offensively. We begin, though, with a word from PointBank.

PointBank is excited to announce today that we are offering a new option in safe and secure investment. In addition to fee-free savings accounts, we will now be selling savings bonds. The cost of the bond is $5,000 (5 Gold) and it will mature in one month with a 5% fixed interest rate. This is a great option for folks who don't need immediate access to their money and want to earn a higher rate than our current savings account option. The bond will be bought and sold in USD at at a rate of 1G=1000USD to avoid complications with the 10G/day income limit established by the game admin.

To summarize, our investment options now include:
Savings Account: 100 USD minimum, 1% weekly compounding interest, no fees.
Savings Bonds: 5000 USD per bond, 1 month term, 5% fixed interest, no fees.

If you are interested in purchasing a bond or opening an account, just send me a PM. I'm also happy to answer any questions you may have.

In political news, we are continuing to see more of the same from the usual suspects in eUS politics. Pizza the Hut II called for presidential candidates to "take a strong stance against Pfeiffer" in an interview, while Mr. Arundel argued in his own interview that "haters [are] gonna hate." Arundel later apparently drafted Tim Tebow as the USWP quarterback. A spokesperson from the Denver Broncos organization did not return calls for comment.

Cleveland Fleman published very good interviews with both current president Oblige and former president GoalieBCSC in his newspaper, the Black and White Press. In my opinion, the best quote came from Oblige who said "broken English is the international language."

In economics, Saphire109 continues to write about high-dollar economic theory. His latest article encourages foreigners to move to the US, purchase our goods (which he claims are some of the New World's cheapest), and then return home to sell them. This would, effectively, allow US manufacturers to export to other nations without the hassle of dealing with foreign currency or the fees of tariffs and export licenses. The higher demand for USD could help offset the declining value brought on by admin's recent gold sales.

Finally, on to war. We successfully removed Serbia from our shores recently and how have just a handful of states held by Poland. We are currently attacking Poitou Charentes (Polish France) and appear to have the campaign nearly won. Poitou will give us the rubber RM bonus, brining WRM to 60%, in line with the current FRM. I have several suggestions and hopes for where the battles will lead us next.

First, I think that we need to work with the French to hold onto Poitou. We recently won a very close battle in Aquitaine (also holding rubber), but gave it back to the French via RW the very next day. The French still cannot use the resource because it does not connect to their capitol, and we could have made use of the bonus. I understand that we wanted to close the battles with Serbia, but we could have pushed on a little further before focusing on Poland. Just two regions away, on the Mediterranean coast, is Languedoc Roussillon. It is Serbian occupied France, and holds a Fish resource. If we could hold that region, it would boost American Food and FRM production to 80% above base levels.

I'm interested in publishing some eRep-related cartoons. If you're interested in drawing them, PM me.

The next objective should be to put the hurt on Poland. With a victory in Poitou, we will remove their last rubber resource. We could throw an even bigger wrench into their economy with one more battle. The successful liberation of the Eastern Netherlands, we could simultaneously cut off the last Polish Cattle and Oil. (local map) This would effectively reduce the amount of food and weapons the Polish will have to use against us and our allies in the near future.

Speaking of allies, you may have noticed that we still have a lot of Canada inside us. The great folks of the north have been incredibly helpful in getting Poland out of North America, and have been helping themselves in the process. Specifically Pennsylvania, which gives them a Fruit bonus, and any of three Great Lakes states providing a bonus in Grain. Canada does not have either resource domestically, and we have more than enough to go around. It is my opinion that we should allow Canada to hold onto those regions for as long as they desire, because having stronger allies only makes America stronger. I encourage everyone who is friendly to the US to actively campaign against resistance wars in those regions.

Finally, the admin announced an update today to the battle orders for military units. The main impact is that it will allow MU leaders to set a secondary battle to replace the orders if the main battle finishes. Gnilraps breaks it down in his paper, 16 Shells.
