Phoenix Launches Surprise Attacks for Day 911

Day 911, 00:44 Published in USA USA by Lieutenant Scheisskopf

Day 911 started with a bang, as Phoenix forces launched a series of attacks which will supplement the already tense fighting from Day 910. Phoenix members and friendly allies undertook an expensive campaign and attacked a number of EDEN and Brolliance interests just ahead of server reset; combined with resistance wars (RW) across eUS and EDEN territories, Phoenix has put the pressure squarely on their adversaries ahead of any possible declaration of war (DoW) on eSerbia which could endanger their hold of Liaoning. In a short span of time, Phoenix leaders put their EDEN and Brolliance counterparts on the defensive and in need to craft a strategy as Day 911 unfolds.

Resistance Wars Erupt Across USA
The first action came at 23:44 on Day 910, as eUSA-occupied regions in Asia came under organized RW campaigns. First came the RW for Henan in China, followed by the Indian region of Andhra-Pradesh, and then the strategic Chinese territory of Shandong. Shandong is of special significance to the eUSA, as its proximity to eSerbian-occupied Liaoning makes it the ideal region from which the eUS could stage an attack on the iron hub when the declaration of war on eSerbia goes through Congress. Were it to fall in the RW, Henan would be the eUSA's next closest region and would need to conquer Shandong in order to advance on Liaoning. Clearly, the eUSA will be unable to ignore both RW's if Liaoning is still a long-term objective for the Brolliance member.

eRussia staged a three-prong assault on eChinese positions, while RWs broke
out in eUSA-occupied Henan (1) and Shandong (2) right before server reset

Minutes later, the strategic region of Southern Thailand came under fire in a resistance war, as well as an attack by eIndonesia. Southern Thailand is the pivotal stepping stone towards eIndia which the eUS has held to ensure the former Phoenix juggernaut would be unable to cross towards Karnataka. With a RW and a conventional strike, along with the RW's in China and India, the eUSA will be in a tough position to defend all five attacks and may find itself disadvantaged once Day 911 passes.

Russia Stages Three-Pronged Assault on China
At 23:46, eRussia opened three battles across the border in eChina, attacking the invaluable Heilongjiang, along with the two strategically critical regions of Jilin and Inner Mongolia. The significance of Heilongjiang is well-documented and has been in eChinese hands for less than 3 weeks, but its possession of the region is now being heavily challenged. Even if eChina were to secure Hello Kitty, any reader of my paper would know the value given to Jilin and Inner Mongolia, the two regions which border both Heilongjiang and Liaoning, and from there can easily counter any region swapping or incoming attacker against the iron hubs. Phoenix's three-pronged strike, although unlikely to succeed in all three battles, will put the alliance in a better position to protect eSerbia's claim to Liaoning and may enable the alliance to retake Hello Kitty and hold it while another Phoenix power eventually seeks to swap for it.

eFrance targeted its former high wood regions just before server reset, going after Rhone Alps
(circled) and Aquitaine (squared) in a one-on-one fight with their eSpanish occupiers.

France Attacks Native Regions Occupied by Spain
The campaigns across Asia were followed up by eFrench maneuvers against eSpain at 23:50, when eFrance targeted the Rhone Alps, followed 17 seconds later by Aquitaine. Both regions are naturally eFrench but have been occupied by eSpain and (in Rhone Alps' case, ePoland); both regions have been heavily fortified by the eSpanish and hold over 4,000 citizens; either region would be devastating to lose for eSpain and the rest of EDEN, as their high wood have been highly valuable for the eSpanish economy. With the attacks so close to each other, eFrance and their Phoenix friends (note, I did not say allies) will be able to monitor both closely and try to sway one-- or both-- in their favor on a moment's notice. Rhone Alps is currently well into the underground, but much can change throughout Day 911.

One concern for Phoenix on this front is that eFrance alone cannot defeat eSpain, which is the situation facing eFrance in the current war. The Entente and Phoenix would need to divert valuable resources towards these battles' successes, which Phoenix leadership may consider to be less important than the fights in Asia. As this article has been compiled very early in the conflict, it will be worth monitoring where mobile Phoenix fighters deploy, as this will show where their priorities lie and where the heaviest fighting will take place.

Phoenix made sure EDEN leaders consider Day 911 to be an emergency day

911: A Hectic Day in the Making
The attacks mentioned above were supplemented right before server reset with a renewed eBrazilian attack on eSouth Africa, as the Phoenix power in South America targeted Northern Cape to draw eSA fire. My previous article on Day 910 gave the New World much to think about, but the fireworks set off just before Day 911 opened assure that the day's fighting will be intense and heavily contested. When the dust clears, Phoenix may find itself flush in gains which could include an iron-rich region (Heilongjiang), access to a second iron region (Karnataka, if they win in Southern Thailand), and two high wood fortresses which could return to their natural owners (Rhone Alps and Aquitaine). Days like these are what keeps the game interesting, and continually changing-- the geopolitical landscape could change dramatically in 24 hours, depending on what side emerges triumphant overall.

God Bless America,
