On eKossovo-a different point of view

A new conflict has erupted in the gulfs of the eRep community. The reason, we all know. The proposed addition of 2 new countries, eKossovo and eAlbania. On this subject I would like to share an opinion with you.

There are, roughly, three different views on the subject. One view opposes adding eKossovo on the grounds that this is not an internationally recognized country, so it should not be added in the game. Second view on this matter objects that we shouldn’t care for the status of RL Kossovo, this is a game, so add the country and let’s play the game and not bring RL subjects in eRepublic. Third view is that Kossovo is an independent country, so let’s have eKossovo.I will try a different approach on the subject. Let’s for a moment forget the status of Kossovo and move on to something different.

The game objects of players bringing RL matters in the game. But, really, is it players that do that or is it the game itself? There hardly is any rational explanation for adding eKossovo: it is not such a big country, it does not have that many people with an internet connection. There are other countries that are not in this game and could have brought many more people if added. So, the explanation for this is not a rational one: it, simply, has to do with money.

Let us not fool ourselves. eKossovo is added for a reason only: to stir up hatred, ultranationalism and RL feelings to Serbia. We all know that eKossovo doesn’t stand a chance. When the immunity from attacks period is over, they will be concuered in a day by Serbia, and stay under Serbian rule forever. We all know that. We also know that lot’s of money will be wasted in attacks and Resistance Wars. This is what the admins care about, not bringing ‘justice’ or satisfying a portion of eRep players that are from Kossovo and want their own country. The eBalkans are a goldmine for admins, simply because RL Balkans is a region full of passions, nationalism, religious conflicts. They are simply riding that horse as hard as they can. As I said, although RL is forbidden in the game, the game itself brings RL. And this time, the game does that in the most shameless way, by bringing a country that is internationally disputed, and ofcourse players will talk about it, and ofcourse they will shape their opinions based on RL.

In my point of view, we should object to that, regardless on our RL position on the Kossovo subject. As a human being, it bothers me that some people exploit nationalistic passions and hatred to make even more money. This is no different to what Nazis did to gain power (and no, I am not saying that admins are Nazists, I am just saying that these methods have been used in the past by Nazists and others too to extract gains in a country or region), and humanity was suffered a lot from these methods in the past and the present and probably in the future too. I call out for a negative vote on the poll for eKossovo, not based on RL point of view, but as an objection to these lame methods that will make a portion of eRep players hate each other while the masters of this game laugh and make even more money. Let’s stop this madness. Let’s for once make it clear that we play not to hate each other, but to get away for a while from RL problems and have fun.
