Mental Tangent - Clevinger's Presidential Backing

My Mental Tangent

Note: This is a lack of edits, this is my sheer train of thought - if you can follow along, go you!

As some of you know, the upcoming elections have left me an extremely awkward scenario - one that I am not happy about in the slightest. I am close friends with both PigInZen and Josh Frost, which sadly enough are the two presidential candidates that matter. If I roll on the side of PiZ, I will likely lose my friendship with Frost. If I roll on the side of Frost, I'll likely lose my friendship in PiZ. So, that leaves me with one of two scenarios, keep my mouth shut or anger one of my friends. There is no loophole - there is no way out, one way or another this issue is likely to come again, so it's time I get it over with; and hopefully my explanation will help the other understand why I am throwing my backing behind him. In the end - most people read a few lines from each presentation, and make a decision - it's too bad really; we have some really great politicians afoot.

If I were to remove personal bias - and focus on the current eUS issues; this is what I see.

Current Issues:

Our friendship with Romania
Our Active Citizen Count
Picking our Rival Countries
etc.

Remember folks, we are choosing a president not only on who has the cutest pictures, nor who has the better current policies, but rather, we are choosing a president who can lead the country on problems we have yet to even determine.

Consider it - abstractly - like three pillars:
He who has done well in the past.
He who has a clear set of goals for the present.
He who is best prepared for the future.

Therefore, I throw my backing behind Josh Frost.

Now, justifiably so, the middle pillar, He who has a clear set of goals for the present, is strong in both candidates. It's safe to assume that since the current issues are very apparent, both candidate wants relatively the same thing. In the end, for the candidates presentations, the only clear difference is wording. While Frost hasn't specifically said "I want 10k Fists," it's safe to assume that he would like to see a ten thousand person increase. Hell, any presidential candidate, no matter the country or the time, would like a 10 thousand player increase. The only issue I see with goals this vast is that if they fail; the chance of a PR re-bounce will be unlikely. It's just like promising to people that you'll get em clean water. While we don't know if clean water will ever be introduced (which if it did I'd likely die laughing then quit this game), promising something on such a high risk will likely stunt your elections.

Let us take a step back now, and analyze the first pillar, He who has done well in the past. Under Josh Frost's presidency, we joined EDEN - and our diplomatic relations with each of the EDEN countries were relatively good. Now, under the Jewitt/PiZ administration, our diplomatic relations with countries such as Romania have been suffering. Now, granted, there is no blame to spread, things change, it is to be expected - but, let me use something former president Harrison brought up as seen in this thread to note the Romanian citizen frustration.

And now, if we tap dance to the future - that's the big question, He who is best prepared for the future. What is the future going to hold? We don't know. This is what a presidential candidate is truly running for. The future. This is where belief and faith comes in. Who do we believe, who do we have faith in? I have my faith in Frost.

Who is your faith in?
