Like we should educate people (VOTE GAIUS JULIUS)

Day 683, 20:03 Published in USA USA by Gaius Julius

For some reason there seems to be all of this rush about education and domestic policy within the US. It makes sense the US is transitioning from a full scale war to something similar to what we had before the war. We still have battles to finish countries to kick out of the brolliances regions. However now people are like "hey are we gonna like help the newbs and make people smart?" The answer to that is yes, and if I am re-elected next month you can be for sure that domestic affairs is going to play a major role in everything I do. One of the main causes of our early failures in the war was that people just didn't understand. Parties worked for themselves and people were in an almost comatose state when it came to where they lived, where they fought and where they got their info from. That has changed a great deal during this war, however now we cannot afford to let another generation of citizens fall back to the old ways.

Long before I became President I was an education and domestic affairs guy. I am not a one trick pony, don't believe me? Read these:
Restarting the NAU
New players are the best players
Understanding our economy
The Information War

As you can see I was one of the first players to tote some key ideas and reinvent some old ones. I did not do these things alone. I had help more help than I thought possible from a lot of people and many of the issues I advocated for were brainchildren of people such as Emerick and Tiacha. However I have never wavered from my very solid beliefs about new players and education. I advocated that the old concept of ignoring and bashing newbs was as bad as fighting for the other side. I saw the NAU as the best way to disseminate knowledge for thus thirsty for it. Finally I talked about how the US and its more intelligent citizens had to insure that propaganda such as Zoli's couldn't infiltrate our media and destroy average player morale and understanding. So I have done all of this, but what am I going to do in the future?

Bear with me on this wall of text

The Tier system
So we have dozens of new player and domestic programs. Lets list them as some are neglected by a lot of people a lot of the time.
-Pony Express
-Meals on Wheels
-Mentor Program
-US welcoming committee
-REACH
-Flying Unicorns
-US Dept of Education
-North American University
-US Training Division
That is a lot of programs, and heck I probably forgot a few. So instead of the approach that people normally take which is to simply throw around program names and say they need support. Lets look at it in a different light. How can these programs support each other. In other words what we need is a system by which these groups cooperate and support new players from crib to fully accomplished player. So where does it start.

Tier 0:
The first step along the line is getting new players. One of the US's key strengths is its population and we need to keep that coming. This is where the first program comes in. REACH is a new DoI program focused on using alternative media methods to promote the eUS. Using social outlets such as Twitter and Digg could allow us to reach hundreds of thousand of new players. This brings in the new players, where do they go from there.

Tier 1 (first contact):

This is when a new player first joins. There are two programs that are crucial to this first contact. The Welcoming Committee and Meals on Wheels. People love free stuff and that is what gets people to stat around. MoW's entices people and gives them an initial contact in the form of food paid for by the government. It helps them through the first week of low pay and confused mistakes. The WC does a similar approach, it offers gifting services however it also introduces a new player to the community. This is key to an active citizen as the eUS forums are a major hub of US life.

Tier 2 (the first steps):
So now we have reached week 2 with our newb, they have learned thanks to early sources the basics of eUS life. Now is the time that they start to ask questions like "where do I spend my gold?" or "What is PEACE?". This is where the Mentor program comes in. This ia one on one peer leader who helps new players learn about the world they live in. In the future this could even be improved upon to allow more detail. For example a new player who is interested in starting businesses could be directed towards experienced US GM's who know what they are talking about. Finally the mentors are key as they will help with encouraging new players to join the Training Division and be militarily active. This program insures that new players understand how to fight, where to fight and basic eUS military procedure. A key aspect of this will be the flying unicorns who will insure that new players get a free trip to California or Florida so that they fight at their max potential.

Tier 3 (Becoming a real player):

Education needs to be the cornerstone of our domestic policy. It is why I helped to restart the NAU and why the DoE was always my favorite department. These programs need to make sure that they are directed at the new player. A mentor can only go so far. Too make sure we are turning our citizens into true professionals, they need to be passed of to these two sources of education. The DoE can offer broad topics, such as how to maximize wellness, the basics of running a business and how to get active. Meanwhile the NAU offers courses in specific areas and allows an interested player to get active in what they want to.

Tier 4(get them active while you can):
We have a great number of programs that people can work in. After being berated by various depts and people with info and education we need to capitalize on this and get our new players active. They need to know about getting info through the pony express and that it is easy to become an ambassador. Whats the point of educating someone who will drift back into two clicking?

Tier 5 (activity after newbdom):

So after all that work by the government, individual citizens and outside programs. Where does our new player go from there. Well the sky is the limit and its why new players are awesome. They are the future of our country, after you and I have quit they will be left with our legacy. I want to make it one not of "well I thought that we should do this", but one of "I am glad we did this."

Thanks for reading through my wall of text, I hope it inspires you to get active in education and the domestic policy of our country.

Remember that the Gaius/Jewitt ticket is not just one of what we did. We are a ticket that carries not only the vision to move us into the future but the experience and practice to really make it happen. However we are not the beginning and end of education. We are two young men who can only message and help so much. Sometimes the best solution to a problem is not another program but simply whether YOU get involved and help.
