Liberation and Occupation

Day 1,145, 20:52 Published in Pakistan Russia by Porosus

There was another event I personally find important. It was the liberation of Central Greece from Turkey. The reasons for why the Turks had Central Greece are obvious for a few reasons. First off, Central Greece was home to high iron, the most valued raw material in the eWorld at the time, and then there is the fact that it's Turkey and Greece. As this is a single event, there is not much I can put on it, but I can say that it was a big deal at the time, both Hungary and Indonesia sent troops amongst others to help Turkey, and Romania, the US and others sent help to Greece. It happened on day 573.

Another event I was personally part of, was the US-Mexican War. Uncle Sam was president, and needed activity, and saw Mexico as an easy target. The US invaded, and put the walls a million points underground, which was still quite a feat. The US would go on to take all of Mexico, but would lose as a result of a lack of strategy besides crushing. When the US finally took the South East of Mexico, they were greeted from an attack by Portugal, a powerful country at the time, who was backed by PEACE. The US tried to stem the tide by RW a region back to Mexico, blocking Portugal and the US. But, through lack of communication and awareness, a large chunk of the population fight against the resistance, along with a Romanian division fighting against it. Weapon prices were also sky high, making resistance feeble to begin with. With the region secured, Portugal, with Mexico later, would go on to repel the American invasion, and rampant fear of a home invasion. The US president Uncle Sam would later be impeached because of this failure. But out of this came a new idea, the idea of a training war, where one country with many MPP's would be attacked by another country who obviously wouldn't win so both sides could get experience.

Then came the Third German-Swede War. Germany, which just recently had received huge PEACE GC support in Operation Burning Spirit, the massive RW's for German freedom, answered the PEACE favor in a surprising way. They tried to join Atlantis. But with the knowledge of Peace funding, they were only allowed to become Passive Members, that is to say a one month trial, of Atlantis in March 2009. This surprised many since Sweden and Germany had been in a state of cold war ever since the collapsed diplomacy proven by Operation Burning Spirit. When the trial period had ended Swedish President Kalle Holm gave Germany an ultimatum to solve the problems created by Burning Spirit, and ultimately failed to meet it. Germany was then erased from the map once again, and some say was the deathblow to Atlantis.

More important events happened after the fall of the Romanian Empire. Russia, struggling from a fragmented country and low population, had gotten enough power to demand it's regions back, with the exception of WSR which was controlled by Indonesia. Finland was worried by this, as they held Moscow and their only high grain region. But they were saved by the addition of the Baltic countries a short while before this. Finland was on friendly terms with Estonia, and didn't want to anger them, but Latvia, which borders Moscow, had high grain and wasn't on such friendly terms. They made a deal with the Russians, in that when they took Zemgale, they would RW Moscow back to them. So, in June 2009, Finland attacked Latgale, the entrance to Latvia. Estonia had an MPP with Latvia, and heavily supported Latvia, as Latvia at the time lacked a hospital of any kind. A RW was also started in Moscow when the attack on Latgale started by a Latvian, and the Russians supported it, despite the deal, and would win the RW hands down. Now the pressure was on to see who would win, Latvia and allies or Finland. Estonia was home to many people during the fight, as militias and freedom loving mercs came to Latvia's aid, even Hungary sent a small detachment if memory serves. But in the end, Finland won, and with resources spent in Estonia, there wasn't much fight for Zemgale.
