I am sorry eCanada
Alexander Rearden
Dear eCanada,
I am sorry.
I have failed my country that I have poured my blood, sweat and tears into. Through my own hubris I entered eCanada into a loan that failed. With one sentence the contract would still be enforceable and the admins required to fulfill their end, but the notion that a Q5 company would be accidentally sold for 45 gold did not occur to me. And for the records sake, it wouldn't have occurred to congress either. But that's a discussion for another time.
It was only by the support of eCanadians on the IRC that this letter is not a resignation. However, I have opened a poll on the eCanadian Forum on my next move. If it is the will of the people I will resign as Minister of Finance.
I will be continuing my Presidential Run, though a victory seems far less likely.
What I will say is I have been given greater resolve to change the system to bring not only efficiency but accountability to government. For 8 months I have given my all to eCanada, it is now up to you if you want me to give even more.
Again, I am sorry.
Your humbled Minister of Finance
Alexander Rearden
For those confuse😛

dont beat yourself up about it alex. we all make mistakes. at least it was only 200 gold u lost and not the thousands of CAD in the CND (looks at bruck)
haha ya scorpius makes a good, plus on the bright side, eCanada wouldn't have been doing so well without you.
The next move is for you to get on board the CHANGE TRAIN...you now see what needs to change...you can do it...stick with it 🙂
Petz, my platform has more change than Jacobi's
his headlining change: auditor general
Mine: A NEW CONSTITUTION
a new constitution will only help with an auditor general like myself around 😛
Congressional Oversight Committee on all State loans exceeding 25 gold.
Companies in debt to the State CANNOT be sold until the State has been repaid in full, plus interest.
Penalties must be devised. Not just decrees saying that "hey, you can't do that."
Perhaps collateral is an option to pursue in the future as well.
Something......
All this lost and stolen State funds is driving me crazy!
Congress couldn't do anything that I couldn't do, they could complain which i am doing.
Not Congress dude.
A Congressional Oversight Committee.
A group of Congressmen whose ONLY task is to monitor state loans.
lol tyler, lol
no loans until a proper procedure and program are discussed, debated and approved
I must say from what i am seeing, so MAJOR changes need to be made and not just to how the government do things, but in how the People in charge do things. You can set ALL these groups up, but the men and women running the show must follow these steps or else they are worthless. One must look upon ones self for change before he can make the right choices of change for ones country?
Like Scorpius said, don't beat yourself up my friend. You have done one hell of a job with few if any mistakes. You started as Finance Minister under me and I made the right choice, our economy is booming. You have done the number one thing that Bruck has yet to do, take responsibility. More respect to you my brother, you are a true leader.
I agree with Petz Inc.
An immediate moratorium on all State loans until a reliable system of recovery can be devised.
By the way, when one says "Congress", that strongly implies the whole body of Congress.
When one says 'Congressional', this can be interpretted as being derived FROM Congress, and not inclusive of the entire body politic.
See below...
con⋅gres⋅sion⋅al [kuhn-gresh- uh-nl, kuhng-]
–adjective
1.of or pertaining to a congress.
2.(usually initial capital letter) of or pertaining to the Congress of the U.S.: a Congressional committee.
🙂
As far as I understand, AR made a loan of 200 gold using taxpayer money without even making a valid contract just because someone decidec to spam the ecanadian forum.
Then that person sold the company for 45 gold to who knows? maybe his friend or even to his own organization? Or maybe he made a genuine mistake. Anyway AR should be held personally responsible for every penny lost and should reimburse it with interest. I'm sorry doesn't cut it!!
Actually I made it as valid as possible, the contract is viewable here: http://www.erepublik.com/en/forum/topic/99158/contract-between-yellowknife-housing-owned-by-thekommie-and-ministry-of-finance/1" target="_blank">http://www.erepublik.com/en/forum/topic/[..]ce/1
The contract was available to Canada for a few days before I signed off on it.

...Where? I can't find it.
Nevermind, found my answer

You need to update this post so that people don't waste time looking through every forum.
I deleted the thread because I didn't think it was necessary.
I smell continued graft and corruption from the established eCanadian government. Time to vote them out.
What is next? 'Accidentally' selling Newfoundland and Labrador to the Swedes?
I don't know you very well, Mr. Rearden, but from my time in Congress last term I was given some respect for you; more from it rubbing off on others.
Despite the criticisms of some I've cautiously maintained that respect.
I also don't know a lot about what you do as Minister of Finance, but since the Canadian Economy seems to be doing so well I get the impression you do it well. Or, if nothing else, confidently.
Everyone makes mistakes. Press on, Mr. Rearden.
Apologizing was the right thing, AR. Even though the money was lost, I feel your apology was 100x better than what we got from the 35K scandal.
Is there any hope we can get the company back from the admins? Should us eCanadians continue to message the admins about this issue?
Personally, as Deputy MoF I think the government should not offer loans to citizens at all. Leave that for the banks. If anything, the government should be selling bonds that citizens can buy and get a guaranteed return on. But that's another debate.
As for this, this is not a set-in-stone loss. It's just going to be sitting in the wasteland of the admin inbox for a long time. But contractually, I think the gov will get the money back *IF* the admins act on it. So I don't think we can fault AR. The only thing to fault is that he trusts the admins to do their job.
You gave a loan of 200 gold without any kind of oversight
and then you bungled it
To hell with pressing on. Impeach him for criminal incompetence.
I'm an eCanadian; I think you should resign
Only the great men admit their mistakes. But, before I vote for you, I'd like to know what will you do about Swedish-German war?
I am new here, but I am willing to give you the benefit of the doubt and see how things unfold.
