I wanted to take a break from the campaign trail and talk about the importance of an often overlooked dynamic of the game; Political Parties. eRepublik is meant to be a social interaction game and without help you as a player will not succeed.

Other than a very active military unit the political party is one of the greatest new player retention tools around in eRepublik. A well run party will help new player develop their skills through game mechanics education, prepare them for political leadership position through positive mentoring and activity in party key positions, and social interaction via media such as forum and IRC activity. For each new player I suggest the following prior to joining or committing to a party.

1. Investigate each party carefully prior to making a commitment to join. Each party has a different culture and environment. Be weary of parties that promise you an easy way to obtain power or bride you to join. Nothing is free and such items are only obtained through hard work and commitment. I have linked the top three party’s pages below for you to begin your careful investigation. There are plenty of other parties so do not limit yourself to these.

2. Get on Internet Relay Chat. It is the primary means of real-time communication in erepublik and each party has their own chat channel. Below are instructions for connecting via IRC.

a. There are many IRC clients and web pages available to get you connected. Each has their own features and requirements. Below are just a few clients available.

b. The only server for American eRepublik chat is Rizon. Each client is different for setting your default server so follow their instructions.

c. Enter and Register your nick. I would highly suggest that your nickname is the same as your in-game eRepublik name.

To register your nickname, use the following syntax:
Code: /msg NickServ REGISTER password email

Example: /msg NickServ REGISTER mypassword you@validemail.com

Note: The email address must be a valid email address you can use, and password must be a valid password (i.e., it cannot be your nickname or less than 5 characters long).

After issuing that command, an email will be dispatched with a confirmation code to your email address from service@rizon.net. Copy and paste the codes within 24 hours from your email address you just registered to complete the registration process; otherwise the nick will be available for others to register:
Code: /msg nickserv confirm confirmationCode

d. Indentify your nick since many chat channels require it for security reasons.

Use the following syntax at the command line.
Code: /msg NickServ IDENTIFY password

e. Join a chat channel (syntax to do such is: /join #Channel). Below are a few well known channels:

#usa-chat – Main eUS Chat Channel for new players
#uswpchat – USWP Party Chat Channel
#amp – AMP Party Chat Channel
#fedpartychat – Federalist Party Chat Channel

3. Get involved and ask questions.

By following the above instructions it will help you avoid the pretty lights that cause you to become part of the two-clicker zombie apocalypse.
