Germany. Europe's prosperity reiles on acceptance
Christophia
As debates over alliances and alliance networks grows, Germany increasingly stands at the centre of arguements over how the UK responds to these criticisms and how the UK works with it's neighbours.
As German Ambassador to the United Kingdom, I would just like to take a few minutes of your time to present to you my personal feelings and opinions regarding these debates and welcome you to the new Germany, in a new Europe. I must stress this is not the official position of the German Government and I am writing independent of them.
As many people know, Germany, much like many nations in eRepublik has a less than desirable past. It is guilty of imperealism and aggression, and this is something I myself am not proud of when talking about my new homeland. It's wars with Sweden are well documented, (although occasionaly twisted and manipulated). For this, Germany has paid the price; it has been occupied numerous times by Sweden, and although Germany is now finally a free land, hostilities continue between the two nations, and threats are constantly being made.
This is understandable and completely normal, but now I believe it is time arguements ended and a new era of acceptance began.
A new Germany has arrived. We have a new President, a new Congress, new political parties - our democracy is flourishing. But Germany is still weak, and it is still vulnerable. It has learnt its lesson from previous transgressions and a new administration is looking to reach out, to work closely with European neighbours and put irrelevant alliances aside. Germany - it's people and it's Government, has no interest in joining PEACE, or ATLANTIS for that matter. It is completely true our alliance network at the moment is heaving swayed towards member nations of the PEACE alliance, but the is for one reason only - no ATLANTIS nation wishes to help Germany because of its past history with Sweden, and much of the influence our Swedish friends holds over them.
The German economy suffers because of Swedish actions, but we must remember Germany also holds embargos against "enemies"; however still our relationship with European friends is hampered by Swedish efforts to isolate us. They claim we "are PEACE", yet the only thing which pushes Germany towards PEACE (something few people desire) is Sweden's continued aggression. Is it not just common sense that says if a country is threatened it will turn to almost anyone for protection, whether it is in the long-term interest or not?
On a much more personal note, there is nothing more I would like to see than an MPP, or at least some kind of permanent peace treaty with Sweden. We both have betrayed each other and have a past I'm sure we both wish we could change, but to me it seems outrageous and quite frankly stupid to treat the new Germany like a pariah state because of the actions of a past minority.
Real life history shows us it would be better to engage and accept a new state like ourselves than to isolate it - something which will ultimately lead to the destruction of German neutrality and the creation of yet more conflict.
I wish for a prosperous but neutral Germany, in a peaceful and cooperating Europe, and I implore all our European friends, including Sweden to help achieve this aim.

UK is allied to Sweden. Sort your problems with them and then approach us.
Voted as I think it's important that you are heard.
Exactly - my point was not an attack on the UK or anything like that for rejecting the MPP; there are no grievances and Germany fully understands the UK's dilemna - my point was that Germany WANTS diplomacy, it WANTS peace and cooperation with Sweden.
Too many people think Germany is a puppet of PEACE but I merely want to dispell this lie.
You write so much about Swedish aggression but you put embargo on Sweden so only aggressive country here are Germany. Betrayal was purely German also, don't try to blame Sweden for your own failures, you broke agreement, pay for it. This article is just propaganda, this guy don't know relations between Sweden and Germany or purposely lying to acquire your sympathy.
Aradan - I have spoken of both German and Swedish aggression and betrayal. I know full well Germany has committed mistakes.
I am asking that we move on and build relations.
You are completly German mistakes but your article didn't show any flaw of "oppresed" Germany.
"The German economy suffers because of Swedish actions" Lie, German started embargo so it really Swedish "aggression", right.
"Swedish efforts to isolate us" No it's your country trying to brake Swedish alliances by attacking Sweden in every possible way and playing victim. Give me example of Swedish betrayal.
So you admit to purposely changing information to show Germany as oppressed country?
1) Economically I was not talking about the embargo. I openly criticise the Germany government for this as I believe it is counter-productive
2)"No it's your country trying to brake Swedish alliances by attacking Sweden in every possible way and playing victim." is merely your opinion. How is Germany trying to "attack" Sweden?
"So you admit to purposely changing information to show Germany as oppressed country?" - no I don't. As I've said about 3 times now, Germany has done some bad thing of which I am not proud. I have never said Germany is oppressed. I want Germany to work closer with Sweden. And that means Sweden STOPS publishing articles around eRepublik attacking Germany and instead sits down and talks with them. And vice-versa.
Aradan, in favour of your own credibility I hope for you that you stop flaming and delete your comments.
Compared to the well written article, its good structure and reasoning, the well-balanced position (not at all propaganda or Ideology) and it's constructive conclusion (peace, friendship and dialoge) your comments look fiery, not thought-out well and rather aggressive. So in fact exactly the way I think you don't want to look like.
Oh and by the way, to give - apart from just good advice - some facts as well. Germany is really not a victim in this affair. It is I think a fully responsible partner for constructive conversations. But Germany is not the menacing country, but the menaced one:
Sweden is the much stronger country and there is a lot of swedish media (including by president Toothbrush) predicting and promoting war and occupation of Germany. In Germany I didn't hear of anyone talking about invading sweden in the last 2 month.
If you insist in evidence:

1) Any proofs? On the other hand lately Polish and Swedish MM were attacked.
2) Read your article again. This is way of attacking Swedish foregin policy. You write about Swedish actions, not even word that actions of your past minorites are still on and they rather not going to be changed.
Swedes articles are mere response. In matter of fact they are mostly information about real actions of Swedes and Germans in the past.
BTW You should disscus a matter peace with Sweden before write such article in media of other country because that looks as simple accusation against Sweden. Remember Germany still have embargo against Sweden.
Yeah harsh truth is always hard to hear. I want peace with Sweden, logical conclusion we need embargo them. We want discuss, yes that's great but why after being aggresive not before? You should be balanced and constructive when acting not when speaking.
If you insist evidence:

look at embargoes
http://www.erepublik.com/en/country/military/Sweden
look at active wars
so stop flaming and delete your comments.
BTW It's really funny to see all new German players critzicing Misho in your media, when older and more resonable says: "Sadly, that's truth".
