GameChanger for PP! (EA and Congress)

Day 1,969, 21:00 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by GameChanger

Hello all!

Here’s the second part of my manifesto: the External Affairs of UKRP. Actually, that’s false. I’m sticking Congress in here as well, partially because there wasn’t any room in the last article, and partially because congress is tied to external affairs. Here I will cover how we should interact with different parties, how congress shall be managed, and what our external image to the eUK should look like.

Congress:

Judging from membership and activity levels, I can expect that we can get 4-5 congress seats on our own. Last term, we gave a seat to GBDP, which was a kind gesture, but probably cost us a congress seat.

Under my administration, anyone can apply for congress. An experienced member of UKRP will be chosen to lead our parties’ congress members. That member (the Congress Leader) will set up a mail in which they can privately discuss any laws or proposals that come up that aren’t presidentially approved, like tax changes. The CL will then inform the congress members what UKRP’s policies on the matter are, if indeed we have them.

Members who want to apply for congress will submit to me anywhere between two sentences to a paragraph on why they want to be in congress. Obviously, longer is better. It will be expected of congress members that they stay active and don’t just collect their Gold and disappear. While not required, weekly updates of your votes and thoughts through articles would be great!

Relations with Other Parties:

TUP: The UKRP has friendly relations with TUP, and I wish to continue that. However, I also wish to continue the process that started when we got into the top 5, namely separating TUP and UKRP’s decisions and policies.

The UKPP: After this election, UKPP will be back under the control of the traditionalist faction of UKPP, which is larger in size anyway. UKPP are a fractured, broken party, but they haven’t died. I hope we can keep good relations with them as they attempt to rebuild the party to its former glory.

NE: Ah, New Era. Our traditional enemies, they are our opposites in lots of ways: How we communicate, what we find fun in the game, and how we think the eUK should be run. I want to get to a point where UKRP and NE can coexist peacefully with each other, and not get embroiled in flame wars constantly, which hurt both our images. However, NE will have to commit to not flaming us either, which is something I have no control over

ESO: Our relationship with ESO depends on one thing: Whether they drop out of the top 5 or not before the Congress elections. If they don’t our relationship will stay the same, as a friendly connection. If they do fall out of the top 5, I think we should offer them the option to run with us for congress.

1V: One Vision has been falling in the ranks as of late, and there has been some talk both within 1V and outside of it about potentially merging with another party. LongShotzz and I are both former 1V members, and we still have strong connections there. If members of both parties think it would be beneficial, merging could be something to look into.

IA: The Independent Alliance is the fastest growing party currently, and stands a chance of getting into the top 5 by congress elections. They have shown nothing but goodwill towards us, and if they don’t manage to get top 5, we could potentially work together for Congress.

WRP: We have a fairly neutral relationship with them, and I request all UKRP members to treat them with equal respect as the show to us.

Other Small Parties: If a small party wants to run with us for congress, a cost/benefit analysis should be conducted to see if it will benefit us to have them support us for seats. This also goes for other, larger parties.

Ethics and Morals:

I went over this in my last article, but I would like to set a clear standard for what I expect from our members in how they conduct themselves when representing the party.

Try not to get involved in flame wars; they hurt our reputation even if you “win” them.

• No vote buying: If you are going to advertise UKRP or use the [UKRP] tag, no buying votes.

• No lies or slander: Don’t go around exaggerating claims or creating falsities. The truth is good enough, covering it in lies weakens it from the inside out.

No bribery: When recruiting, don’t offer players food, money, or weapons. Not only is it immoral, but if a player is going to join a party purely for the supplies, we don’t want them anyway. UKRP is built around its community, not around continued bribery through gift-giving.

And so I complete my manifesto for this month's PP elections. I hope you find my ideas constructive, and feel free to give me feedback!

Here is my other manifesto for the month, covering internal party affairs.

I still have the Spokesman spot open for my cabinet, so if you are interested, please PM me!
