Full Presidential Debate *warning, extra long*

Day 684, 19:50 Published in Canada Canada by jbdivinus

OK EVERYONE THIS IS YOUR SOURCE FOR NEWS. UNBIAS UNEDITED PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE RIGHT HERE 😃
CREDITS TO SARAD

This, I am told, was the longest debate ever... Ty to the Candidates and all who asked questions.

SaraD My first quest is to all candidates, Cham first: do you think the campaign has been decent?

SaraD overall and personal

Chamrajnagar I do, to a certain extent. There have been a few articles/comments that may have approached the line, but it is far from the ugliness that this campaign could have easily degenerated into. I'd like to thank both jb and WD for not spewing degenerate filth

jbdivinus I believe that my campaign has had many positive and negative aspects. I believe that by building my platform and cabinet with the help of members of all parties, I have achieved a level for both that is examplary. However,I am upset at even the small amount of mudslinging and subtle political battles that have been fought between William Duncan and my
jbdivinus supporters. (NOT DONE)

SaraD WD? some people were disappointed in the Saint Jocabi thing...

WDuncan I think some people were disappointed; however, I was under a lot of pressure from certain people to abandon Jacobi. I refused to do so. I did not like the idea of being pressured to abandon eCanada's best Prime Minister ever, simply to gain political acceptance.

WDuncan I was not going to abandon my friends to gain political peace with people who hated him, and then me, for no good reason

WDuncan We are different people. Very different, Jacobi and I, but I do not believe in blank hatred, especially for good people

Tyler_F_Durden To what extent - if any could independantly funded armies contribute to the overall eCanadian war effort?

jbdivinus It is my belief that while independantly funded armies (what we would currently call resistance movements) should not be recognized in any official way as a part of the government or of the army. this issue caused a huge stir in the past months, but they are privately funded, privately run, and thats how it should be. HOWEVER

jbdivinus It is also important to realize that alienating these groups and not including them in plans is a waste of our talent, for the independantly funded armies have potential to do large amounts of damage considering they are not in the army. For this purpose, I have created the Office of Strategic Services, to be run by Bruck

jbdivinus Bruck, already having created the most successful of these forces, will be able to successfully help coordinate the armies and integrate them fully into plans my government will make.

WDuncan Independent armies vary in nature. Some are mercenary. I have absolutely no desire to utilize mercenary armies. They fight for the highest bidder, not for what’s right or wrong. Loyal and professional eCanadian armies deserve government investment, because when we invest in them, we invest in ourselves. Mercenaries are dangerous and I would warn against anyone who used them or would even...

WDuncan ...flirt with the idea of promoting a mercenary culture within our army.

WDuncan Professional, loyal armies deserve our support, encouragement and funding first and foremost. They are the only ones who will fight for eCanada without exception, and can be counted on to fight when eCanada needs them most; mercenaries cannot.

Chamrajnagar They can contribute positively in three ways. First, the most obvious, is the additional damage that would have been wasted were the members not active in the CAF. Second, the fact that they supply themselves leaves more money in the CAF budget to supply other soldiers if they WERE in the CAF. Third, I've heard from many young Canadians that it gives them a sense of belonging, and increases the retention rate for new playe

Tom_Hagen My question is for jb only if that is ok

Tom_Hagen The creation of the OSS will bring Bruck back into the political/military spotlight. I have no qualms about his ability but won't the creation of this 'pseudo-general' , for want of a better phrase, create rifts in terms of responsibility between Bruck and his successor Coda, Are they any contingengies in place for such an event?

jbdivinus In the event that any such conflict exists between the duties of Coda and Bruck, Coda, as the CAF general will discuss the issue with me. In the end, private groups must work with the government, and in this case, not the other way around. If myself and Citizen B and Treian are all unavailable, Coda will make the final decision

jbdivinus This has nothing to do with Bruck, however Coda will have access to all the information necessary to make a more informed decision than Bruck, and it is Brucks duty to coordinate these groups to be effective with respect to our own military.

SaraD may I just ask another questionon this topic... jb you say such groups should 'reconised' and cham you say we should 'co-operate'. What exactly does this mean? will they get Government funding?

Chamrajnagar Taxpayers money should not go to funding private armies unless it is for the benefit of the taxpayers. If we are attacked on our home soil, my government will donate some supplies to the private armies, as well as other Canadians, but no government money will be spent on a non-government organization that regular Canadians do not qualify for.

jbdivinus Tyler_F_Durden To what extent - if any could independantly funded armies contribute to the overall eCanadian war effort?

jbdivinus Clearly, any group discussed in this question should be considered to have the capability to be successfully funded independantly.

jbdivinus In an emergency situation, where immediate action is required, a budget will be set aside for these groups

jbdivinus However, on a general basis, it is clear that any group that falls under this category will be self sufficient. The only government funded army (on a regular basis) should be the CAF

powerown My question is directed to jbdivinus, if that's ok?

SaraD yep

powerown jb, you have gotten lots of criticizem for your enlistment of Bruck as your Strategy Services officer, do you care to elaborate?

jbdivinus I have not received much criticism for the enlistment of Bruck in cabinet actually, however I will admit that it is a controversial issue. As I have explained to those few critics, there are a few things they must understand;
jbdivinus secondly,

jbdivinus all cabinet member will be held to a very high standard of conduct. ANY cabinet member who violates this standard will be subject to immediate dismissal from cabinet at my discretion

jbdivinus and I will not hesitate to use that right.

Adasko William, you and Derek are running a joint candidacy. Would you care to explain, how much influence Derek had, in your campaign, and how much influence will he have in the country, were you to be elected?

WDuncan Awesome question. Derek can speak for himself. He has a lot of gravity and support within the DAL because he is an upstanding citizen, quick to help, happy to make friends. He is as passionate about this country as I am. Derek and I council each other and work together, and the fruit of such collaboration can be seen in our excellent cabinet and reputable platform.

WDuncan I chose Derek because I believe he will do so much for eCanada, especially on the domestic front. His willingness to work and adopt new policies, experiment and implement in a professional way impresses me, and I believe he will impress eCanada.

WDuncan To conclude, Derek will have oversight, for the above reasons, of the majority of our domestic issues, which are his passion.

WDuncan I hope the dual candidacy continues.

WDuncan I recommend it.

supabeasty What will the role of the Rangers in your campaing be, if any? Also how will you unite the CAF as a whole?

Chamrajnagar I intend to use the Rangers in exactly the same capacity that they were introduced. They will be a military wing that is open to everyone, that will be a good introduction to the CAF life, and a good opportunity to rank up. I'm quite glad that I have supabeasty in my cabinet to help tranistion me to this new organization, as he has extensive experience with the Rangers.

Chamrajnagar As for the unity of the CAF, nothing builds camraderie and teammanship like friendly competition (except maybe the real threat of an invasion 😒). I have been a big fan of Coda's Support a Platoon Program as an outside observer, and would like to encourage similar competitions during my term both with the regulars and the Rangers.

WDuncan The CAF Rangers will be funded and expanded under my government, and the more citizens that join the better. My hope and aspiration when I was asked to start up the Rangers was that it would provide a greater number of citizens with knowledge on proper fighting, which is useful for eCanada regardless of what career they take, be it military or civil; furthermore, for those who do choose the...

WDuncan ...army, it will provide an excellent way to streamline members into CAF Regular or Reservist service.

WDuncan Furthermore,

WDuncan It is a gateway into the life of the eCanadian community, which is the bedrock of eCanada.

jbdivinus As my opponents have stated, I plan on funding the CAF rangers and I expect its membership levels to increase dramatically. The role that I see them taking is to provide a fun way to learn how to fight and to become connected with other canadian citizens. The rangers is meant to bring together canadians, and make them stronger, together

jbdivinus There are many ways I plan on unifying the rangers and the CAF as a whole. First, as Cham mentioned, Coda's support a platoon contest is something I support wholeheartedly and it is without a doubt very effective. It will be continued. Next, Festivus was a wonderful event, and will be expanded. Thirdly, and most recently, there has been the Make Scorpius...
jbdivinus Laugh contest, which is a great way to make people active and have fun, encouraging them to come back for more. Similar contests will be set up, with riddles, jokes, short writing contests, etc... Activity is the number one priority.

Adasko (on behalf of Jacobi)"Much of being a Prime Minister is in coordinating with our allies. Can you tell us about your experiences with the war module, and how you and your team with work with EDEN?"

jbdivinus Well, there are several things about my campaign that are unique to me. First of all, Scrabman (former president of eUSA) is in my cabinet in the Foreign Affairs Department. He will be very helpful in working with our allies and providing advice. Secondly, I plan on working closely with jacobi over the first few days to make the transition to president and ..

jbdivinus into EDEN leadership much easier. I am confident in my abilities as a diplomat, and I will stand up for Canada's best interests. I will also be working with our moderator, SaraD (former eUK president), on a further proposal with EDEN leadership. Finally, I have been alive through many changes to the war module, and while I am no general, I have a good ....

jbdivinus grasp of how it works, and excellent MoD's to help me learn what I don't already know.

WDuncan I am intimately familiar with the war module, so much so I would describe it as almost having a personality. It’s fickly and fidgety and can be dangerous to any planning, as it’s laden with bugs. The trick to the current war module is understanding its unique “personality,” and assuming its faults can and will appear in your planning. The war module’s no one’s friend; assume it...

WDuncan ...will not be...

WDuncan ...yours, and be glad when its bugs and glitches are.

WDuncan As for coordinating with allies on a military level the important thing is patience, and to not give in to frustration and never, even when everything seems to be turned on you, give up. Allies need encouraging and so do citizens from time to time. The best way to coordinate is to ensure that the best minds are available to our allies so we can develop strategies that are feasible and will...

WDuncan ...succeed, which is exactly why I have chosen ramizeth, the 2nd in command of the CAF with a passion for the war module and sound knowledge of our army, for my Minister of Defense.

Chamrajnagar I must say, I have no experience with the war module in practice. I know as much as I've been able to figure out with regards to initiative and conditions for the surrender/withdrawal of a region in a theoretical aspect, but I don't know what order to push the buttons in This will of course be of top concern during the transition period. In terms of working within EDENs tactical plans,

Chamrajnagar I am generally available almost 24/7 with internet access (Computer Science student) so I can initiate blocking attacks whenever and wherever required. I will work tirelessly with Jacobi, my MoD, dMoD, and the CAF High Command to learn the ins and outs of the war module, and how military strategy is planned in eRepublik.

Tom_Hagen Question for William Duncan, You have been called Jacobi 2.0 . Considering your political affiliation and career paths there are noticeable similiarities. In what way are you different to your esteemed predecessor?

WDuncan I would have never signed the NAP with the UK: it’s not in my nature to trust someone I know we simply cannot. Contracts are subject to interpretation and can therefore not be guaranteed to accomplish any objective, as how the contract will be enacted is outside of our control; furthermore, we cannot see into the future, and have no idea how relationships or the game itself might change....

WDuncan ...Nonetheless, I know how to use what others might see as a hindrance, like the eUK NAP, to our advantage, and am willing to accept the fact of past contracts, and ensure that even contracts that seem to be an obstacle can and will be used to our overall advantage in the future.

Banach To all candidates, will your ministers of defence be involved in any new projects or programs to improve the CAF, if so, highlight them briefly.

Chamrajnagar At this time, I have no new plans involving the CAF, other than increasing interest and activity. I have full confidence that my MoD will constantly be evaluating the CAF and coming up with great ideas to fix any issues that he notices.

WDuncan My government would work with the CAF leadership to ensure the development of not only the Rangers, but also an effective minuteman system. This system intends to organize and coordinate our fighters to deliver “payloads” of damage during key moments of important battles, similar to what EMC does. I strongly believe that eCanada is and can be a top rate military power: we may have a...

WDuncan ...hindrance in overall numbers compared to larger nations, but there is nothing preventing us from utilizing what we have to its maximum potential. Let’s move forward and let’s show our allies just how much eCanada can contribute in the war effort.

jbdivinus Yes, there are in fact several programs that I plan on implementing along with my Ministers of Defence. my MoD, Disraeli, is currently very involved in developping an improvement upon CAF supplies, and I will be expanding it and working on it to make it work better. This would include some of the aspects of the self suffcient armies we have already seen......

jbdivinus Secondly, my dMoD banach, has helped design several programs, including officer training school, and veteran compensation, which will help encourage not only new members to join the CAF, but also to stay in and help improve our overall morale and strength. Also, we recognize that changes to the war module will be coming, and have several plans ready depending

N3 1. What are the strengths and weaknesses of your opponents? 2. what is your reaction to what your opponents have said about you?

jbdivinus Ok well I will start with Chamrajnagar: Chams biggest weakness is the he came into the elections at a huge disadvantage. CSD's elections were not very well organised, and consequently he needed to redo most of his cabinet and platform. However, he has shown incredible ability to adapt and improve, and because of this he appears to have the makings of a great

jbdivinus WDunca now

jbdivinus His greatest strength is Derek Harland, his running mate, and his previous experience in office. His greatest weakness is his temperment and his inability to control the urge to get revenge upon people who have attacked him in the media. He needs to be able to handle these pressures if he is to have a successful term.

WDuncan I feel my opponents have a disadvantage in that they were not part of the WWIII experience from a frontline, in-the-centre-of-it level; whereas, I was. What I saw and learned from that experience is invaluable in how I am able to project what can, should and ought be done for military victory.

WDuncan As for what they have said about me: Cham has said little, and good on him J . However, the majority of the smear against did not come from my opponents directly but from prospective members of their government, whom I did not feel inclined to invite into the echelons of power, largely out of concerns with what they would do with that power.

Chamrajnagar I would say one of jb's major strengths has been his ability to attract voters from all over the political spectrum. However the fact that he has never held an elected office, may put him at a disadvantage in the voters eyes.

Chamrajnagar As for WDuncan, as he said, he has the most military experience of the candidates. However, his largest weakness, in my opinion and as shown in his previous comment, is how he rewords comments to his own advantage and to the detriment of his opponents. He seems unable to be as objective as the PM position might require

Adasko Can I just have a little subsidiary to Cham?
SaraD yes

Adasko Cham, you said a PM needs to be objective, however a lack of political bias is something, I believe that is not recommended for a Prime Minister, it's rather a feat of the Speaker of Congress. However now that you mentioned it, do you believe you can be an unbiased PM?

Chamrajnagar I believe that there are certain situations that require a high level of objectivity, and yes I do believe that I can be that objective. I did not mean that a political bias has no place here; as you said, it is not the mark of a PM. As my cabinet shows, I have little interest in partisan politics except in the sense that I stay in the CSD, because I'm proud of the people in it, and what they've done with the party.

jbdivinus My response to Cham: I agree with you, however I think it is important to note that I do have political experience, on many levels. I was VP of CSD, VP of CEP (multiple times) I was the orginal MoSS guy (before Emilio Sanchez) I was a large part of the beta government. Im one of eCanada's oldest citizens, I dont lack experience. @Wduncan

jbdivinus @WDuncan, I have made it clear that the abuse of power will not be an issue in cabinet, as I have introduced several safeguards to prevent any serious breach in security, Also, to contain any that do occurr.

WDuncan jbdivinus I am not sure why you assumed I was talking about you in particular.

WDuncan Frankly, the fact that you took such alarm to my concerns makes me think you had the same ones.

SirShaun[home] First, for JBDivinus - After reviewing your cabinet, there appears to be very few CPP members in it. Do you believe in having a bi-partisan government? If so, what was your reasoning behind freezing the CPP out? To Cham and Wduncan - How important is it to you to co-operate with all 5 political parties, to have a bi-partisan government? Why?

jbdivinus the majority of my cabinet is composed of CNC, DAL, and CPF. I still however do have CPP and CSD ers, however I think that the issue here is not the one that you are addressing. There are two points I would like to make. First of all, I asked an equal number of people from each party orginally to be in cabinet (approximately) yet CSD and CPP members refused

jbdivinus multiple people from each. Regardless of their reasons, this is why they arent in cabinet.

jbdivinus not all parties have the same amount of talent. For example, despite originally running for DAL, i dont have 20 DALers. I asked the most qualified people, regardless of party affiliation. (qualified by my subjective POV and that of my closest advisors)
jbdivinus Im not insulting any party here, as I stated before, an approximately equal number of people from each party was approached

SirShaun[home] May I ask a follow-up question?

SaraD go ahead

SirShaun[home] How do you define talent? I ask because as far as I know, you have never had the chance to showcase your own in any government.

SirShaun[home] Not to say you aren't a bright and talented individual, this is just for my own edification

jbdivinus That is an incorrect assumption

jbdivinus but, I define the talent of an individual based on my personal experience with them and my knowledge of their experience and abilities in the field that they are being considered for.

jbdivinus I have been part of multiple government programs, helped behind the scenes in parts of the constitution and criminal code, and was actually in the government for several terms.

Adasko To Cham and Wduncan - How important is it to you to co-operate with all 5 political parties, to have a bi-partisan government? Why?

WDuncan I place the electorate as a whole far above the political parties in particular. Political parties can be extremely positive influences on eRepublik, especially when they aim to collect people, create communities and educate their members. When I went to select my cabinet I wanted the best people in it. Party considerations were a secondary concern, which may have gotten me in trouble....

WDuncan ...Political parties are and can be a massive force, especially during elections. Still, I feel if my policies and my direction are in the best interests of the country, then with time (after elections) it would and will be much simpler to forge a lasting peace in the political area, at least insomuch as that is possible or even fun (from a gaming perspective.)

Chamrajnagar It is important in that most Canadians' opinions are shared by at least one of the major parties. Co-operation with the 5 parties is, to me, akin to co-operation with the Canadian public. I did not build my cabinet with the intent of having equal members from all parties in it, rather I chose the inidividuals I thought would do best in their position. After looking at my completed cabinet, I was both surprised and pleased

Chamrajnagar The only instance I looked to involve a person from one party in particular was the CNC, and this was after I had completed my cabinet for the most part. I realized that I knew far too few CNC members for their size, so I approached the leader, Rainer N, and asked for his personal reccomendation on someone I should look out for. I am quite happy that I did, as I have gotten a great dMoH in screamingslave.♦

Tyler_F_Durden When President Jacobi signed the NAP with eUK - despite best intentions, it enabled the PEACE tanks in the eUK to move to eFrance to conduct an invasion upon our ally - eUSA. It was effectively the same as if Hitler had signed a NAP with Churchill before he invaded Russia so that Germany wouldn't have to worry about an Allied invasion of Fortress Europe.

Tyler_F_Durden Could the OSS be used to circumvent Official Treaties between states to eCanada's advantage?

jbdivinus Well, many people might argue that this OSS is part of the canadian government, and is therefore tied to these treaties. However, as I have mentioned before, we have defined the OSS to supervise independant groups who will recieve a small budget in emergency scenarios (attack on canadian homeland, etc..) These armies at all other times will not officially

jbdivinus represent the government. Thus, if they so choose, they will be able to work towards eCanada's advantage under the direction of the OSS without compromising eCanadas diplomatic situations

jbdivinus So yes, the OSS will be able to coordinate with non government armies to the benefit of eCanada, especially in times like these. In fact, a situation like this is one of the purposes behind the creation of the OSS. Canada will not be limited by its military, its citizens will be able to make a bigger difference in this case.

Chamrajnagar I would rather sit down and alter the troubling document with the future UK leadership, then to try and circumvent it. Finding loopholes isn't fixing the problem. That being said...these private armies are just that, private. The government of Canada is not responsible for their actions, as reckless as they may be in damaging our foreign relations......

WDuncan The driving force behind the eUK NAP was to provide eCanada the opportunity and ability to occupy American regions in order to block Colombia and Russia. As I have said earlier about contracts –and the war module - that is exactly my concern. The war module is a no one’s friend, and contracts cannot necessarily be changed when situations do.

WDuncan The OSS is a name for a proposed cabinet post. The government is free to act with or without cabinet posts actually existing. There is nothing stopping the MoD or the President him or herself from creatively using private, allied, current or the official army to conduct operations.

Tyler_F_Durden To what extent does eCanada lose control of it's foreign policy by being a member of EDEN? How far are you prepared to surrender our initiative in foreign policy to an unelected body?

Chamrajnagar We do indeed lose some control over our foreign policy, but what we are offered in return: friendship, support and loyalty, far outweighs those restrictions. Saying that, there is only so far I could go in entrusting our country's care to non-Canadians. While well-intentioned, they don't have the same perspective as an actual Canadian would. EDEN's treaty is quite acceptable to me, but I would not allow much further dictat

WDuncan Tyler_F_Durden: I am very, very impressed with that question. That is exactly the kind of concerns that I myself have had and do have about alliances. At one point does the supranational system start to overtake the national one, and when is the crossed? In our dealings with many minor PEACE GC powers it is abundantly clear that those governments are entirely suppressed by fear of their own...

WDuncan ...alliance! This is and will be PEACE GC’s undoing as the hegemony alliance of the New World, and I have every intention to exacerbate that weakness of theirs.

WDuncan As for our alliances: I will not surrender our sovereignty. Our friends would never, in truth, ask us to, and I know our allies are deeply sympathetic with our desire to retain absolutely sovereignty over our armed forces, for example. They understand individually, and in EDEN’s case as a an alliance body, that concern of ours.

jbdivinus In my opinion, there are a few things we need to consider. First of all, despite the improvements in our military, drastic as they may be, we are still unable to take on a military superpower such as Hungary. We need our allies in EDEN, but it is not only for our need of them that we stand by them. Also, the Brolliance. For the forseeable future, the
jbdivinus Brolliance will always have our support.

jbdivinus However, it is also important to realise that the interests of EDEN may not always be the interests of eCanada

jbdivinus In such a case, it is imperative that no matter who is president, eCanada comes first, and a decision will be made accordingly

Uraczak Jb, you have come under fire for your choice in Deputizing Octavian_F for the Ministry of Commerce. He has demonstrated unpopular views, including but not limited to his stringent dislike of Jacobi's Government and some of his choice remarks on homosexuality. How do you respond to these remarks?

jbdivinus My opinion on ANY criticism of my cabinet members is this:

jbdivinus Views that don't affect erepublik affairs, or issues from the past that consist of views that are common (disliking jacobi is not just him), are irrelevant in my choices of Cabinet. I acknowledge and am ready to take responsibilty for Octavians comments, Brucks tantrums, and flaming from anyone else. In return, I request the opportunity to prove that I can ..

jbdivinus handle the personalities of ALL my cabinet members, and that I and they be judged based on their actions as my cabinet members.

jbdivinus Octavian F for example

jbdivinus has written an article, that is apologetic, for him at least, and his comments are not nearly so deragatory or insulting as they have been, except where non erepublik issues come to play

Chucky_Norris How do you feel about having a bilingual Canada, and how can the Ministry of heritage and official language or any other similar institution be implemented in the government so that it's efficient

WDuncan I am glad you asked that question. One thing I want to say is I have decided to split that ministry, and allow Heritage to focus on collecting our historical records and compiling them for future use and reference. The collective lessons learned of eCanada should not be forgotten for future e-generations.

WDuncan As for official languages, I am very impressed by how eCanada, as a whole, is so open to being bilingual and committed to it, especially in government. Personally, I strongly believe official communications from the PM especially should always be translated.

WDuncan 95+% of eCanadians can read English, but we are still Canadians. It’s a part of who we are. And I believe the francophone community is a huge contributor to our country, and I want to say we appreciate their contribution and community by continuing and improving bilingualism in eCanada, on the forums and in the our media.

jbdivinus First of all, a bilingual Canada and a bilingual government was one of my main priorities, one of the first few notes that I took down when building up my plans for this government. I myself am bilingual, but that is not enough by itself. I have recruited Anomie, a bilingual canadian whose skills are phenomal as a player, to take over for minister of heritage

jbdivinus Secondly

jbdivinus I have recruited a deputy, cristine roberge, who is also bilingual

jbdivinus and I have many bilingual members to split the work so that it will be done efficiently

Chamrajnagar To me, our heritage is extremely important. In fact, I have modified the Ministry as it currently stands to further include outreach to the francophone community. Both of my opponents have included jfstpierre on their foreign affairs team. I chose to do the exact opposite, and chose him as my ambassador to the francophone community right here at home in Canada. I would love to see more of the francophone community become a

Chamrajnagar Every official publication will be in both official languages of course, but hopefully I can organize a translation team to start on our more important documents as well, including the newly revised constitution.

JohnAMacdonald The majority of eCanadians are not well versed in political life, what will be some tangable things you offer theese citizens aside from words, promises and back door dealings?

jbdivinus I have created an extensive social services plan, as well as the promise to provide hospitals (in a systematic manner) to all canadian regions. Under me canada will grow in population and in % active members. military access will be easier and will get more supplies

Chamrajnagar I'm offering a sustainable and healthy economy, a safe place to live, continued social programs, and the information they need to know exactly what is going on in their country.

Tyler_F_Durden Is the Office of President (I call it what the game calls it, not romanticizing rl) an office of POWER or an office of RESPSONSIBILITY? Only a one word answer will suffice.

WDuncan Power. There's no game mechanic that forces Presidents to press the attack button and be responsible

Chamrajnagar Responsibility. The president is elected by the people, and is responsible to those same people.

jbdivinus Responsibility. (Despite the power that some seem so hungry to wield, and despite the "in game mechanics" we are elected to serve the people and need to answer to the people.) With great power comes great responsibility. The president has power but his office is one of responsibility.
