Today, I asked for a few minutes to interview one of the original Federalist party members, Tiacha. Tiacha was kind enough to grant me the interview. Tiacha was the first person elected to Congress from the Federalist party. She is a former Marine with a strength level approaching 18 and Field Marshall ranking (in other words, she’s a bad ass). She also is the newly elected Congresswoman from the great state of Texas (one of the most important regions in the eUS due to its high oil content and other resources).

1) First of all, I would like to congratulate you on being elected congresswoman from the great state of Texas. What are your plans and goals for the upcoming session?

I basically want to improve communication between the military and Congress. There's always been the perception among the military that Congress keeps them from being funded. In the past, Congress has been known to question military funding requests without merit, slow up the funding process, and other issues that arise from misconceptions. My goal this term, and the reason why I ran, is to improve military/congressional relations and to end these misconceptions. I plan to push for a weekly meeting between Congress and military officials to improve communication and to work together to make sure our boys are getting the money they need. As a statement of my dedication to the military, I donated my Congress gold to the Marine QMG.
I also plan to start a Congressional Education Program. Every term, there's an abundance of new Congressmen. Many two-click their way through Congress or otherwise do not know what they are doing. I want to offer them an NAU style crash course on how to be an effective Senator. I wrote an article back when the Department of Education was first created on how to be an effective senator. It’s pretty dated now, though. My goal for this course is to create a course that is timeless and can be used from Congressional session to Congressional session. I’m working with Sam Kraus on this project (a member of the DoE), so look for more details on that soon.

2) You have a long history with the Federalist Party. Can you provide your views on what the party stands for, and how it has changed since its inception?

The Federalist Party, in my opinion, is a family. Ever since the beginning, it’s been a group of people I’ve always been able to count on. Whether its old farts like me, Alby, or Logomaster304, or new guys like you, Captain Panther, St. Krems or Kara Beth. Like Alby once said, we all are Federalists 4 Life. Even people who have left the party, like Bill Brasky (who recently returned) or Pfeiffer, know that. Over these months, being a Federalist has become like being in a well oiled machine. I’m amazed at how organized the party has become, particularly with the creation of the Federalist Outreach Program. Also, we’ve come a long way with our beautiful new forums.

Being a Federalist back in the day was like being an old school Barry Goldwater conservative. We were dedicated to keeping out of imperialistic foreign entanglements, as well as being a true, free market party. Back then, RL ideology, as well as partisan politics, dominated eUS politics. Today, that’s less the case, as most parties favor game mechanics over RL ideology. The partisan aspect of the country remains the same, though. In Congress, especially when it comes to votes, like electing a Speaker of the House, you’ll see a lot of people following party lines. It’s unfortunate that our country has not gotten past partisanship. Americans have a tendency to be “rugged individualists” (as President Herbert Hoover said) and that carries over into eRepublik. As much as we claim to follow game mechanics, Americans, who constitute the majority of the eUS, remain concerned about themselves and their parties before what is best for the eUS.

3) You're a proud former member of the U.S. Marines. What does the Marine Corps mean to you?

I used to be a member of the Marines before I took my “timeout” from eRepublik. I was going to reenlist if I lost the election in Texas. Unfortunately, you cannot be a member of the Marines if you’re a member of Congress because of how often the Marines travel. I plan on returning whenever I’m not in Congress and I’m sure I’ll be welcomed back with open arms.

I used to be a Lt in the Marines, and it was one of the most awesome experiences I’ve had in eRepublik. I think the best time I had as a Marines was when I helped tank the wall to liberate Central Greece. Tanking is probably the most exciting experience in eRepublik because you are involved in the thrill of the moment. It’s fun to see if it’ll be your damage that wins the battle for your country.

Being a Marine to me means dedication. You have to be ready at a moment’s notice to save our nation. I remember setting my alarm to wake up at 4 in the morning to tank a wall. You have to be willing to sacrifice your time to save our nation. It’s really fun and can become addicting. I remember one time I pmed Harlot asking him to change a time we started a battle so I could be there to tank the wall down at the beginning of the battle, as well as tank it at the end. Needless to say, he didn’t change the time for me, but it was still fun to ask. The best part of being a marine, by far, is the people. Harlot, Lucky, QN, Suko, Para, Leroy, Joe DaSmoe, are all so fun to work with. They made my time in the Marines awesome and I can’t wait to go back sometimes. But, I feel as though it’s my duty now to improve military/congressional relations. I’m hoping that I’ll be successful as an arbitrator.

4) You have proven that women can be effective in all aspects of the game, including becoming a bad ass fighter. Do you think that there are differences to playing the game as a woman versus as a man?

I think women, as a whole, tend to be more compassionate. I’m always willing to help noobs, even to the point where they get annoying. I think people, like Princessmedypi, would agree. We have often times talked about how we spend out gold to help others before we can save up for things for ourselves.

But don’t get me wrong, though. I’m not compassionate in all arenas. If you troll on the eUS forums, I can be as harsh as the Troll Hunter (Alee Ann). It all depends on the situation. But, throughout eRep, my goal has been to help others. I think women as a whole have a tendency to put others before themselves which carries over in the eRep and the way they play.

5) Most players at your level started during beta. What aspects of the game are better or worse, in your opinion? What changes would you like to see come to the game.

a. The food system. Back in beta, a q1 food got your wellness up by 1 at the end of the day, period. A q1 house brought your wellness up by 1 at the end of the day, period. It takes a while for people to learn the admin’s bullshit, wellness formula. It would make things simpler for noobs, and those who are not mathematically inclined, if they brought back the old wellness formula.

b. PVP war module was pretty sweet. Most people from beta would tell you that. But back then, I always lost battles. Now that my strength is about 18, I’d pwn everyone. But alas….

Thank you very much for your time, and continued good luck to you!
