eRep in Maps - September 24th

Day 674, 17:40 Published in USA USA by Mainegreen

As usual, let me start by saying you must visit eGobba's World Map. This tool is invaluable to anyone, especially in helping me try and collect the visual representation of what the heck is going on in eRep.

In order to understand these maps here is the legen😛

Included below the continental pictures is a link to allow you to see a larger version of the image.

Yesterday's Article

Hopefully we have fewer errors in the initial release of today's edition.

Editor's note
Yesterday we incorrectly had a Russian flag in the double whammy in Manitoba. I'm pleased that someone noticed as it means people actually look at those little flags I take the time to place there.

North America
This is what I call a turn aroun😛

* The US attacked the French District of Columbia, which yesterday this newspaper momentarily forgot existed. The fiercest fighting reported so far has been a naval battle in the reflecting pool in front of the Lincoln Memorial.

* Canada's next double whammy was launched in Saskatchewan. Hungary's earlier strategy of abandoning North American territories appears to have been abandoned.

* The Canadian double whammy in Manitoba was successfully resisted by Hungary. The heroes for Canada were carbon, of Poland, and Banach - a well known Canuck. The resistance hero, carbon - also known as Kermit with a Kalashnikov - did over 10000 damage. For Hungary the heroes were Hubold, from Indonesia, and teknik562 - who is from Turkey, though he currently wishes there was no Turkey to be from.

* Anyone starting the game in Atlantic City tonight will be Born in the USA, as New Jersey was reclaimed by America and Russia has slipped out of North America as quietly as a Spirit in the Night. Russia didn't put up much of a fight, possibly recognizing America's Hungry Heart, and realizing Russian Glory Days had passed by. The hero for Russia was teknik562 - this Turkish citizen is quite The Wrestler, picking up 2 awards in North America today. The hero for the US was Josh Frost - the top-ranked American citizen has been quite instrumental in The Rising of the country. I'm not even a big Springsteen fan - but, as far as bad puns go, I'm on Fire.

* Maryland is once again American, as the French decided not to fight to hold it. It's not known exactly why, though consider that no matter how many frog's legs and goose livers and snails you've eaten, it's still freaky the first time you see someone eat a soft shell crab. The hero for France was Melkion - the former French President is currently the top ranked French citizen. The hero for the US was the Spanish citizen, FelipeII. It was award number siete for Felipe el segundo.

Europe
Scandinavian landswaps

* Switzerland was successfully landswapped to a newly reborn Swiss Republic from Hungary. The Swiss paid 500 gold for this canton.

* Russia captured Northern Russia from the Finnish occupiers. The Russian hero was parter. The Finnish hero was Misho. You should know them already, but just for formalities sake, parter is the driving force behind eRussia right now and Misho is a world renowned Swedish tank and media mogul. Since Russia won this battle they have initiative in the war against Finland.

* Norway attacked Lapland, Finland and then retreated. This one has me confused. Normally, when two allies do this, it is to trade initiative from one to the other in preparation for landswapping. Now, this does appear to be the case as some landswapping is about to occur, but as the last battle in their war between them more than 24 hours earlier this was not necessary. Maybe the war module was stuck. Or maybe one of our readers from Scandinavia can enlighten us as to why. Regardless, this is an initiative swap type battle and is marked as such.

* Finland now clearly has the initiative in the war versus Norway and used this to landswap Nord-Norge from Norway.

* Now the real reason for all this maneuvering. Sweden landswapped Nord-Norge from Finland. Why did this occur? First, of the three Scandinavian countries, Sweden is by far the strongest, and will have the most success defending from Russia. By taking Nord-Norge, Norway will be protected from Russian attack. Now Sweden does not have a war with Norway. She does have a war with Finland, so first Finland had to take Nord-Norge from Norway, and then Sweden could take it from Finland. Norway is thus protected. Finland not so much, and rumor has it that Russia is mightily angry at Finland.

Closed Training wars
* See previous days maps for locations of started training wars.
* Sabah was secured by Malaysia in the training war versus Philippines

Thanks for reading, and if you wouldn't mind, could you vote up the touring edition of this paper? It's in Russia today!
