eHockey is coming to Canada!

Day 554, 09:39 Published in Canada Canada by Clancy Forrest

With the help of a few lackeys, I have created a program that uses ecitizens and their data to simulate a hockey game. If you have played Hattrick you may be familiar with the rudimentary aspects of the engine. The basics of the game involve 2 teams of 11 players, 1 goalie, 2 lines of 1 center, 2 wingers, and 2 defensemen each, playing 3 periods with the stats of each team determining the number of penalties, goal chances, goals, and players scoring or assisting. After the program determines these stats a sports writer will embellish them with commentary and publish the results. An example can be found here.

In order to create a team or determine what position your ecitizen might be good at, here is a brief idea.

Goalies must be strong, in top shape, deal/absorb damage, and be multi skilled or have massive skill in one area.
Defensemen need to be strong, healthy, and skilled in land.
Wingers manufacture goals and need their strength and health.
Centers construct the attack and deal damage, they also need wellness and strength.

Penalties are the result of over aggressive attributes. The team must have a combination of older and younger players. The 1st line and goalie may consist of players of any level. The 2nd line however must be made up of players who are not over level 10 except for the center.
The objectives of ehockey are:
1) Create new content for eRepublik citizens that will deepen the game and create more involvement for all.
2) Encourage high wellness and strength training.
3) Necessitate older player's involvement in fostering development of noobs.
4) Add a Canadian flavour to the game, something Canadian of which Canada can be proud.
5) Through small entry fees make donations to the winning team’s favorite charity. (Current approved charities are SCOTIA, CAF, and WGC)

Rules

1. All players must be citizens of Canada and masked on the eCanada forum.
2. All players must reside in Canada on game days, unless they are CAF members on mission.
3. Players may only play for one team in a season.
4. There must be 2 defensemen and 2 wingers on 2nd line at level 10 or below for every game.
5. Each team needs a captain that will submit the teams lineup with player links.
6. The CHL is a nonprofit organization with Clancy Forrest as its commissioner and final arbitrator.

Currently I am hoping that we can start the first CHL season with 10 teams arranged into two divisions. The top two teams in each division with qualify for playoffs after a 4 game season in which each team will play each other in their division. Playoffs will be best of 5 and the final series (as yet unnamed) will also be best of 7. The season may be as short as 3 weeks, with half the league games week 1, half week two, and then playoffs week 3. Entry fee per team is still to be decided, but if it is higher we donate more, and theoretically 11-13 players should be able to gather 3-5 gold for an entry fee and bragging rights. I anticipate teams to be created/funded by current Canadian organizations like CAFplatoons, Political Parties, Business orgs, WGC, Trekkies or just any group of glory seekers.

I would like some feedback on these ideas before I crystallize the first season plans. Please make comments and vote on article if you are interested, thanks Clancy “the eRocket” Forrest.
