EDEN reform? Why not?

Day 1,630, 11:55 Published in Romania Romania by Darkslowstar

Dear Edenites

There is no doubt that EDEN is in a crisis situation since Bulgaria left and the situation on the battlefields all over Europe show again a dominance of ONE countries, which have successfully managed to exploit our weak points.

But we would fool ourself if we consider that only the loss of Bulgaria led to the current situation. No, in my opinion the outcome of the Bulgarian-Turkish affair is the result of the weaknesses form the EDEN HQ. It's also true that the same people that brought if a lot of successes have also triggered the actual crises, so its not in my intention to set an execution squad.

But, it's also important to learn from our mistakes and to try to make things better. So, we should use the actual situation to try to make some real changes to EDEN. As some of you know, currently there is a draft EDEN treaty under discussion. As a member of the Romanian Congress I have read it and I must say its not the reform that I have hoped.

It would not be wise to miss this opportunity and to make a real reform of EDEN, especially of EDEN HQ. We need a more flexible structure, we need more ties between EDEN countries and also between Military Units. I would emphasise for the need of creating more joint EDEN Military Units, that would allow a better channeling of damage and maybe even more important to create ties on the lowest level, between soldiers of different countries. If we want to return to the military victories of the past months, we need to be able to sacrifice our own short term needs for the needs of EDEN. It's easier to do this if you know your ally better, if you had the chance to talk with other EDEN countries soldier on chat. A good example is the International MU IUEF, formed by the elite units FSR from Romania, Doctrine from Turkey and CHOTOS from Argentina. Also, another brilliant cooperation form, without the involvement of HQ was this http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-en-remember-that-day-2nd-of-may-2026607/1/20

EDEN HQ should foster cooperation forms like the above mentioned, which now exist only because of private initiative.

EDEN HQ should be more transparent, most of the time regular EDEN citizens don’t know nothing about who is running the alliance and what those people from HQ are doing. Of course this does not refer to military operations, which for security reasons should remain secret, but of the day to day functioning of the alliance.

I would like to see more communication from the HQ, more initiatives, plans and strategy, because this is the reason for that those people were brought there. EDEN citizens need to know from time to time what HQ is doing, for what EDEN countries are paying significant contributions, achievements ,victories, event, etc.

This leads to another big problem, the actual staff of HQ, which seems to be quite eternal. Same people for quite long time. Also it's quite unclear what most of the people there are doing most of the time. Also a big weakness is that new people are not brought into the system if there are no friends with key members of the staff and some good people are blocked for personal reasons.
I would propose that all people from the staff should have a limited stay in HQ, for a period of 3-6 months and that all people should be promoted only for a specific task and if they come up with new ideas, strategies and plans, so that their arrival to add some value to the alliance. This way we would have only dedicated people to the staff and the effectiveness of HQ would grow.

Also we need new strategic bodies, and more involvement of national leaders like MoD’s of EDEN countries. Those people know better the military power of the moment of each country and could add value in EDEN strategic thinking.

Having new people to HQ on a regular basis we would avoid situation like this, when HQ sleeps and we see little action from EDEN. The general impression of the moment is that most of EDEN countries are acting each on individual basis and not as a team.

To resume, the things that I would like to see more are:
- more transparency
- more communication to members
- new people in HQ

I hope that the Congress of each member state will do more than simply approve the new treaty and that a real debate will lead to a better EDEN.
