First, Addy was one of the minds involved with Project Mayhem. So to use it as a negative in reference to Rolo while simultaneously defending Addy is a complete fail. The only BIGGER fail would be to copy/paste it and slap an x2 on the end.

Secondly, your vote was legal in congress to overturn the executive order. There is a technicality that you should of impeached him per the order, THEN held the vote to see if you wanted to uphold it or not. But that doesn't really matter now. The fact that more than 2/3rds voted "No" in game is enough indication that the executive order would be denied. A forum vote wasn't necessary but I applaud you for doing the job os speaker to the utmost. It was a legal impeachment vote per the Executive Order, and per Congressional discretion Congress decided to overturn it. No harm, no foul.

Third, forum access. With the new masking system used on the forums anyone can get "Registered User" masking. It's basically what citizen used to be. I know for a fact I can go to the forums right now, make a new account and instantly have access to Judicial Branch, Executive, and a bunch of other low level forums. This includes Open Door Congress. If I can do it, so can Rolo.

Fourth, if someone wants to press charges against Salty for what he did you can. But it's not congress's business so there's no need to take it up with them. Congress has no say over "criminal" matters in our little roleplay world.

Now back to the point I wanted to make about the current "Double Standard".

As most of you know Addy's executive are for the most part not currently eCanadian citizens. The argument given is that the production bonuses for being a eUS citizen are too good to pass up for the MU company holders. I accept that argument. But my question is, how do you explain Ethel's eIrish citizenship? What kind of bonus (with 3 grain farms, 1 cattle farm, and a Q2 food company) is she taking advantage of in eIreland? As it stands right now, she's actually producing less by being an eIrish citizen.

This question was asked a few days ago and routinely ignored. Some of us are still waiting.

Bear in mind that this is the same group of people that went after TemujinBC likes rabid dogs after a bone when it came to light that he was taking advantage of an NE bonus for training while he was supposed to be a justice and got him thrown out of the Supreme Court.

Is the NE bonus for our top Tank not as important as a negative "Production Bonus" for our Minister of Foreign Affairs?

Now that's a double standard I'd like to get to the bottom of.

an outsider sees it this way:

Rolo publishes an article about allegations of child porn and Addy finally realizes this place is too looney and dangerous. He decides he's had enough. He quits. The congress refuses to impeach him because they won't have Rolo for president, so the cabinet has to do as best they can, and that includes private discussions about keeping the ship afloat.

Addy is convicted of NOTHING. In fact the court acquits him, but Rolo now says otherwise. Of course Addy is no longer on the forum so he doesn't read about his acquittal or the part that asks him to publish an apology. He has previously apologized, in writing and publicly.

Rolo twists this to make him look good. In fact he is the cause of much of this.

There are double standards at work, no doubt. The selling of citizenships is an example. The buying of votes is another. These are behaviours which Rolo and his followers have admitted to quite freely. Inviting foreign players to PTO a party for the purpose of weakening ecanada is another example of admitted behaviour. Of course there is also the plain stealing of millions of dollars. These are all wrong. So is playing with the intention of hurting others, and of being "evil". Rolo and Wally have admitted candidly that their object is to be "evil" (their words not mine). Other players have been persuaded ecanada is a place where it is okay to be dishonest and hurt others. That isn't healthy.

Keep that in mind whenever you read.

I think it's funny that you label yourself as an "outsider" because you have a foreign citizenship.

You're more involved on the forums then anyone I know. You jump at any chance you get to insert yourself where you're not wanted, tell people what they should do, and are the first person to point out mistakes other people make. You're like a condescending neighbor that tells you what they think you should be doing but thinks they get off the hook by adding "I mean, if it were me" at the end of every sentence.

Also, Rolo released an article because he didn't know what Salty had done. All he knew was that the page had changed. I told him on IRC like an hour after the article went up that it wasn't real and he immediately edited his article. For you to imply that Rolo and Salty had somehow coordinated in this is completely off base.

If Addy was acquitted why would they ask him to post an apology? Seems like a serious... wait for it..... DOUBLE STANDARD.

Now for your last points. I don't see how selling citizenships or buying votes is a double standard. Rolo isn't telling other people not to do it, then doing it himself. I'm starting to think you don't understand the concept of a "double standard" Oliver, because you seem to be missing the mark time after time.

Nothing untoward in a court aquitting of a crime and still trying to restore balance by asking for a written apology. That is healthy.

Reporting falsely while asserting that others should be truthful is a double standards. Insisting on a standard of behaviour in others which you don't hold yourself to is a double standard. PLAYING on people's sense of decency while not having any oneself is a double standard. Hurting others while asserting you are helping is a double standard. Seeking to destroy while asserting you build is a double standard. Oh, people understand the concept of double standards. I suggested readers keep it in mind when they read. I suppose I should have added that they be honest with themselves, but I thought that went without saying.

You'll notice that Octavian has realized that he can't win, and has resorted to simply posting inane pointless responses because he realizes the battle is lost.


As for you Oliver. Once again you completely miss the point. Rolo being all those nice words and pointing them out in others isn't the double standard. Rolo admits what and who he is. He doesn't cover it up, he doesn't hide it.

And Rolo it doesn't matter how he explains it, he'll basically be right. He's the speaker, all of the rules are subject to his interpretation when it comes to congress.

The fact that the actual vote was voted down by more than a two thirds margin (as is required to overturn an Executive Order) pretty much settled the issue in my mind. The forum vote was just him covering his bases.

This article isn't about him point at other people and saying, "Look at the bad guys. They're doing bad things. Oh I do those things too, but look at them! Pay no attention to what I'm doing."

He's pointing out that the people who try and maintain an image that they're out for the good of the people and demand the best from everyone else are really just as corrupt as he is. The double standard in question isn't Rolo pointing out the flaws in others that he clearly has, it's the fact that other people clearly display those same flaws but hold others to a higher standard.

A requested impeachment isn't a "No Confidence Vote". So what you're copy/pasting isn't relevant.

You'll need to find something that directly refers to executive orders and from what I can remember there's nothing in the Rules of Order that does.

The whole thing is pointless anyways. When the vote failed by more then a 2/3rds margin it was a dead issue. It doesn't need to keep being addressed. The in game vote was, by itself, enough to overturn the Order.

Had it failed by less there'd be room for discussion, but it didn't so it's not.

No, I haven't missed the point, particularly since I was making the point. Rolo has always proclaimed that he is a liar, plays the evil character, is dishonest, a thief and out to do damage. He is perfectly clear about that. Half the time. The other half, he says the opposite. But of course that is perfectly consistent with being a liar a thief and out to do damage.
But, you see, my little bit of advice was not to Rolo. It was directed to others. Not the players who really do try to play honestly. It was addressed to those who are on the fence.
The players who are self confessed evil liars will always try to persuade us that "everyone is doing it and so should you". For those who read these articles, my advice is "look honestly at yourself and see if you are using a double standard. If you are, consider choosing a side".

Obviously I think one choice is healthy. But that will be for each man to decide for himself.

In-game, I don't remember an option to propose a "non-confidence vote" and another different to propose a "President Impeachment"
Laws couldn't predict all cases or use all words! The result of a non-confidence vote or a self impeachment are the same.
