Congress Moves to Raise the Tit Tax to the Max

These small birds represent a huge source of income to the government!

This was done a couple weeks ago when we first took Far Eastern Russia, aka Far Western Alaska. The logic being that this taxes the living crap out of employees of Commie Companies there and encourages the citizens to go away and the companies to sell out cheap.
This has been followed, within a week, by a reduction of that Income Tax to fall in line with other American employee Income Taxes at 23%, to encourage Americans to invest in our new region and supply our War Machine with this valuable resource.
This is an annoying but necessary cycle-- the high Income Tax helps break the enemy's economy, but at some point we must take advantage of the property and lower the tax for it to work for us. Even our 23% Income Tax is a burden to Reds who stay on in these US-occupied regions, they're accustomed to much lower Income Taxes. One crazy old Congressman asked if there was a way to keep the 50% Income Tax permanently, to keep the economic pressure on the Reds, and somehow rebate Yankee employees the difference. It was pointed out that this would be impossible to track, and as imperfect as this Increase-Decrease cycle is it's the only tool we have at hand to stem the flow of Titanium to Phoenix's Armaments Industries.

Tax Change Indicates Imminent Invasion
Since that time the region has fallen back to Russian control, and America prepares to retake it.
This Tax measure is currently moving quickly through the Discuss and Approval phase and will be presented as a Proposal today. A swift Congress Forum Vote is anticipated, after which it will be brought to a game mechanics Vote. That Tax Change is a 24-hour game mechanics controlled action, as is the length of a battle, so once the Tax Change Vote is started you can expect our President and Joint Chiefs to be meeting.
Before anyone has a cow that I'm telegraphing our plans to the enemy, I'm sure it's safe to assume they know damn well we're coming. They work with the same game mechanics as we do, they know the relative timeframe required to get prepared. They also know we like to start a battle at our most convenient hour, just as they do. When we see that Tit Tax Proposal in progress we'll know the invasion of FER is in the works, so will the Ruskies... it's broadcast news, it's no secret.
Start buying extra High Wellness Food now before prices go up on battle day-- remember, you can heal yourself up to 300 points with Food. Low Q Food is most economical, though hard to stockpile.

Is it 2012 Already?

Embattled Congressional Speaker of the House Necros Xaioban runs articles every month around CP election time, ballyhoo-ing for his June 2012 POTUS campaign. His second article announced his V.P. pick as Wilford Brimley of TV's Diabeetus commercials fame, and has a link to a form where you might apply to a cabinet position.. jobs like Secretary of Secretaries, and Secretaries of both Interior and Exterior, of both Fun and Seriousness, indicated that this would be another lulz series of articles, but the interspersing of mention of current events did give this piece a different tone.
Now, the third article in the series contained a list of Cabinet members.. a mixed lot, drawing on talents and personalities from various Parties, Military men and Politicians alike. Near the closing statement is this sentence, "I want to thank everyone who has agreed to join my campaign, and I look forward to the bright future of June 2012", so it still looks lulz... Maybe.
There followed two fluff pieces; a patriotic bit and then a nicely understated satire piece, both of which end with the same "POTUS June 2012" line.
Then yesterday came another piece with "Moar Cabinet" announcements, including this one:
Secretary of Media
George Armstrong Custer is a Hero of America, and a major player in the American media. A man of strong convictions, I believe Custer will be a tremendous asset as I work to maintain constant communication with you, the People.
Well, I must say that does look serious. And tempting.

Which was then followed, later in the day, with a "celebrate GF Day" fluff piece, lest we forget for one month that a guy who held positions of responsibility both as a player and as an Admin rage quit by violating that trust and publishing his Mod passwords, setting off a players' riot which resulted in a small group of players making out like bandits as they stole funds and multimedia medals from accounts. So we all celebrate this every month whether we benefited or were victims, because the rage quit itself was an act of rebellion and performance art the likes of which we shall never see again. Happy GF Day.

Speaker |NX| (not to be confused with former CJCS NXNW, aka N😵 and I have butted heads in the course of doing Congress business. He's a hardass with a skewed sense of humor. As Speaker he started out fairly "hands off" but has increased his involvement since the first round of criticism hit around mid-August. An Impeachment Vote having failed at the end of the 32nd Congress, the 33rd Congress opened with a second proceeding whose Vote phase will end this afternoon after being extended to accommodate weekend drunks' inability to fulfill the responsibilities they were elected to.

The 48 hour vote has come to a close. NX has been successfully Impeached by a majority vote.
Yes: 16
No: 14
Abstain: 7
Total: 37, exceeds quorum.
The Nomination Thread for Mid-Term Replacement can be found here: http://eusforum.com/index.php?topic=28220.0
(Requesting Thread Closure from Mod)

I expect to be in direct communication with |NX| today to confirm and accept or decline the offer to be his Secretary of Media should he be elected President of the United States on September 5. I may lobby for that V.P. spot. I think his greater understanding of game mechanics and experience in other social circles combined with my own straightforward manner would make a great team in your White House.
If he's not just pullin' our collective legs.

But Wait, There's More!

The American Military Party will be undergoing some change this month. I am currently contacting senior Members first but will extend this to other Soldier-Politicians, regarding a change of leadership in the AMP.
We face an ever-present threat of PTO due to my own high profile feud with S.E.E.S., this is a distraction from the purpose and goals of the AMP. I have tried to tone down the aggression between myself and S.E.E.S. but that just doesn't seem possible. Since it is a personal matter, not Party policy, I need to separate myself from the Party for its own good.
See the bottom of this and all editions of Custer's Stand to see the AMP's Mission Statement. That's not changing. The alarmists will call it "a Military PTO of Congress" but those are the same people who defend PTO'ing a political Party with "hey, a fella can join any Party he likes and his friends can all vote him Party president, that's not a PTO." So call it what you want-- the American Military Party supports Soldiers in their campaigns to run for Congress. We help with their articles and we help with their advertizing, help simply with an endorsement and a good word in our own paper. Soldiers of all Political Parties, we're not fussy, the AMP is non-partisan patriotic, and I expect the AMP to continue being and doing all these things under any future leadership.

Sing along now, kids, this is gonna be the mantra around here;
What kind of game do you play, what kind of players do you like to align yourself with?
What kind of leaders do you want, what kind of leadership do you expect of them?
What kind of country do you want to "live" in and play for?

Well, I got a hammer, and I got a bell, and I got a song to sing.
And so do you.

The American Military Party
Dedicated to supporting our US Soldiers' interests in Government
