We are one day away from achieving our first National Monument!
Criteria for Society National Monument:
"On day 776 have a population of 5344 citizens (3% increase)."
Our Current Population: 5658
We have eclipsed that target set by Jacobi for population growth! I suppose this is the reason why he has proposed in his next term - if he is elected - to increase our population by 10%, or by another 566 new Canadians.
This may be the only National Monument that we will be achieving. We added Delaware to the fold in the deal with the USA, making Jacobi's intent to maintain our region count at 13 fall short - unless the criteria overlooks additional regions.
Jacobi also had an Economic Goal!
Criteria for Economic National Monument:
"On day 776 have a GDP of 2726 Gold (3% increase)"
When Jacobi made that goal, we had a GDP of 2644.22 Gold.
Today, our GDP sits at 1537.38 Gold, falling monumentally short of Jacobi's growth expectations.
In fact - we lost over 40% of our GDP.
I am teh decider. I decide waht we is doings with the
fundaments of teh seconomy - which are sound by teh way.
Now I know why he thinks he can raise our GDP by another 10%. At least it's a starting point for recovery. Let's spread out our recovery by 10% over the next 4 terms...
All the while, Congress is bitching and moaning about Import taxes, wages and raw resource prices - and noone has connected these two dots.
Now, when we talk about negative growth in GDP, let us remember that over the three years of 1930-1933, the US GDP fell by only 28% - and they called it a Great Depression.
We just lost 40% in one month!
The Grand Moff reacts to economic destruction of monumental proportions.
Looks like someone has some a 'splaining to do.
Lana can't be solely to blame.

Uhhm pretty much ever countries GDP dropped because of the new training module, that gold used to go into the economy is now going straight back to eRepublik.
40% is still pretty high comparatively though, I wonder how much stopping the printing of CAD also effected our GDP?
I wonder how we did compared to all other countries. Our leaky bucket economy has a big hole in the bottom and it is called Lana!
Yeah, the drop has to do with the new trainers. Also, most of the CAF has been away in other countries for the past number of days, so it has also taken a hit from a lack of workers.
Lets see, couple of quick comparatives
UK = -5%
Aus = -23%
US = +120%
Mexico = -16%
Sweden = -23%
Yeah we've had a much bigger drop then other countries but really hard to find a comparative (i.e. a country of similar size not actively engaged in the current war). Oh and the US is a real anomaly thanks to it being at the forefront of the EDEN campaign in China.
Maybe Addy could do some better numbers? Be a real interesting comparison.
idiots
its because half the CAD was out of the country in the US fighting in Asia, which is why the US has a + change in thier GDP
Voted...pass the soap!
1 monument.
I am disappoint.
How the hell does a 40% drop happen o__o;
CAF was out of the country plus Christmas. I can tell you for sure my business hasn't been as productive as it could have been
Really Mateen Industries?
Funny...Jewitt says that US economy grew right after Karnataka.
US officials had to manipulate the USD dramtically to compensate.
That was last week.

He doesn't say anything about half of our CAD being in USA.
Is this why we've had to spend gold on keeping the CAD at .032?
We've stopped spending gold on the CAD about a week ago, it started righting itself and we're back to making money
I'm just going to say it's all Lana's fault. It's the only real explanation.
US GDP grew because of them gaining a high iron region 😛
US GDP also grew when it increased its number of regions.
I spent 15 minutes trying to find something to say. I couldn't find something that hasn't been used already.
So congratz Canadian bros on the monument 😛
Hope your economy improves!

The war with china has killed all my profits. they were great buyers of my products. Stupid war ruined all that.
Well, the only end product of a lot of gold is damage.
Does does the extended absence of CAF in domestic economy mean that our economy is cut by almost half?
How is that stability?
What happens when the CAF comes home to find a crippled economy that they're going to have to depend on for cheap supplies?
Hey, if you want to take the "I'd rather abandon our allies so we can make more food" demographic I gladly cede that to you.
I don't think you're fooling anyone, the decision is a) keep the CAF (ie: half our active population) home and tell our allies "But GDP!" or b) we do what we need to do as an EDEN ally.
I choose b. I am more than happy to let you choose a.
So the best thing to have monuments is to select a iron high region with a lot of compagnies then you make training war there with your neighbor. One month, he will control the region when they take the stat for monuments then the next month you control it. Like that, you will alwaye incredible growths.
Honestly, I think the GDP loss is much more a result of a global recession, than Jacobi's. The training mod is sucking gold (money) out of our economy at an alarming rate. Money that is in our economy is spent over & over, contributing to GDP many times. The gold spent on the training mod is gone forever.
On the other hand, I have noticed a tremendous, unusual influx of citizens into Canada in the last week. The majority of them, that I have seen, are multis. When mulits are created, its for a reason. Whether that reason is to illegally create gold for a business or army; to create voters; to create fighters; or even to create an increase in population; remains to be seen. FYI - this is no accusation of Jacobi what-so-ever. But I would like to know who is doing it and why.
Citizen B
Well, I have been getting messages from CAF & Rangers telling me that:
"...this bullsh!t with the CAF being out of the country and effecting the economy is crap! The Rangers didnt move (~123 soldiers), the reserves didnt move (~94 soldiers) and out of the 180 or so CAF regulars, I say about half did not move. To blame 40% drop in GDP on 90 soldiers or so is ludacris...being in the CAF I don't like being the scape goat for Jacobi nor anyone else for their problems..."
Source witheld by request.

Is it just me, or does it seem like the first thing we do as a nation is blame our PM when something bad happens? It's not like he's syphoning funds, and he didn't go ahead and do something royaly stupid to F-up the economy. There's alot of afore mentioned causes that, for some unlucky reason, happened at the same time. It's not the CAF's fault, they were doing what needed to be done. And Lana is a cartoon character, the trainer mods are used by players. You want the economy to pick up? put your gold where it counts, on canadian investments. The GDP is controlled by us as a nation, we decide where it goes and how it gets there.
Thanks Eon.
Its too bad NOBODY can back up their speculation with fact.
Our population is now 5658.
CAF is what, 400?
Numbers do NOT add up. Even if 1000 of those citizens are dead and another 2000 are 2-clickers...
CAF members are usually the one's with the highest skill levels, thus them being absent for about half of this month (it's been a very busy month for the US on their Asian Crusade 😛 ) . Heck, way back during the Scandinavian wars, the Finnish GDP nearly tripled because the armies of EDEN where stationed there for about a week. Not to mention that we have an active population of about 1200 (based of election turnout) so being optimistic you can say our workforce is 1500, making the CAF approximately 25%.
Lana has impacted the GDP around the world, and is usually a 10-20% decrease.
So the numbers do add up, as Nosyt reveals. And as I said before you're not fooling anyone. This is typical political campaigning...spin spin spin.
I don't think that anyone whose going to vote tomorrow is going to see your ads and consider them fair and balanced.
10-20%
40%
nope, those numbers don't look the same to me
You forgot to put in the amount loss due to missing members let's say it's 20%, considering the impact of higher lvl players. That comes to 10%(or)20% + 20%= 30%(or)40%. We'll play it safe and say it'll be around 35%. 5% is normal market flux. mystery solved, jinkies.
Figured I'd point out that in order for numbers to add up there has to be some adding involved... just saying, pimp. Not saying the CAF is responsible for the drop in GDP, it's simply circumstantial. Welcome to the world of finance.
Tyler, would you care to offer an alternative explanation? This is not an attack on you, you are in fact simply a messenger. If there is another rational possibility for the cause of this GDP fall, I would be interested to hear it.
I don't find it particularly reasonable that the current government simply says Lana without gathering some hard evidence. This isn't the olden days when I could tell you all wtf the economy was doing and you would either agree or get crushed under a wall of text until you just gave up and waited for me to go away. I would like to think eCanadian economic policy has progressed beyond that, especially when we have incredibly talented fellows such as Addy Lawerence and others who are capable, and most often willing to at least gather data on what was going on and now what is going on so that a more respectable theory can be formulated.
That being said, I don't like that fact that you, mr.Durden, are being the skeptic without offering any alternative or even a armchair theory on why we saw such a sudden drop. True it isn't your job, you are just the messenger, but if you are simply just the messenger how are you so certain that Jacobi's explanation is incorrect?
Not simply Lana, but CAF movement as well, forgot to add that to my message.
Romania keeps a pretty good tab on how much gold is spent

Scroll down to "training". I would love to know how the guy does it.
Alexander,
With all due respect, it's not my job to provide the Goverment's answers.
Secondly, nobody can show me ANY hard data for me to analyze on my own to verify. That part in particular goes a long way to proving a theory - which, sadly remains just that - unless it can be proven.
40% is far too big a drop to ignore. Was anyone even aware of these numbers? I don't recall seeing any articles from our "economic elite" forecasting this either. Congress just sent up a tax wall 99% high across the board in Raw
Even if it's ALL Lana (I do not for a second debate whether paid training is detrimental to the big picture) then how can we adjust ourselves accordingly if we can't determine what needs to be adjusted?
I don't have to provide an alternate explantion.
If you want full credit - show your work, just like way back in school.
GDP isn't even a measurment of well being, it just shows how much money is circulating through our system. Honestly, as long as my wages are good and prices are fair, as a citizen I could care less what the GDP is. To me this just sounds like a silly attempt to undermine a political rival, not that I can say I voted for Jacobi, but Derek's campaign is starting to make me wonder...
I have a pretty good idea what Mr. Durdens responce will be so I don't intend to come back to this article.
But what does a silly two clikcer like me know 🙂
