California: Voting Record 3

Day 579, 05:11 Published in USA USA by Khaiyan
IMPORTANT: Before I begin, I advise all those who haven't read my first voting record to do so now. Just clicky here and here! Thank you.

It's been some time since my last publicized voting record, so as promised, here is a continuation of my activity in Congress. Like before, I am open to constructive criticism and feedback so that I may better represent you in the future. Thank you California.

Proposals:

MPP with India

Yes - India has been long asking for an MPP with us. I agreed on the basis that they pay their half (30 gold) of the MPP cost. Bear in mind that India is surrounded by Indonesia, so an MPP with them will give us another front on Indonesia. India also has a native high iron region, which I believe should be protected through the means of an MPP.

MPP with Israel

Yes - Israel has two allies, believe it or not. The eUSA and eSpain. I renewed this MPP to prevent Israel from becoming a sitting duck in PEACE territory. One things for sure, if we weren't allied with her, she would be wiped of the map in no time. Other than protecting her, I voted for this MPP as a gesture of our goodwill. I would personally like to continue our excellent relations with Israel.

MPP with Poland

Yes - Poland has been and will continue to be a formidable ally. At the time, it was speculated that PEACE would pull an attack on us (or our allies) so the MPP was signed to further collective security. Although PEACE made no attack, an alliance with Poland will still protect us from future dangers.

MPP with Singapore

Yes - Singapore has been reliable and trustworthy ally. It is governed by a pro-American administration, therefore we count on their help in times of need. An MPP will also serve as a means of protecting Singapore from potential PEACE threats.

MPP with Sweden

Yes - Sweden has had troubled relations with it's neighbor countries however it has continued to be an outstanding ally. Also like in Poland's case, I voted for the MPP which I felt would serve as a buffer against a PEACE attack. Bear in mind that Sweden has some of the most powerful tanks in the non-PEACE part of the world, we needed this MPP more than they did.

MPP with Norway

Yes - In short, Norway is a reliable ally which we can count on in the future. Though they aren't a particularly strong nation, their loyalty and determination towards protecting us, should be a definite advantage in the battleground.

MPP with Canada

Yes - Canada, is a strong, trustworthy and loyal ally. I wished to continue our excellent relations with them. They also have a high-diamond region (that we don't).

Import Tax Increased from 1% to 30% (Moving Tickets)

No - The reduction of import tax for MT was initially introduced to open our doors to foreign competition. This meant cheaper tickets and a rise in government revenue, as more foreign companies have profits deducted by import tax. Domestic MT companies perform generally low in terms of sales so it was really a win-win situation. This is why I voted against reverting the import tax to it's original level.

MPP with North Korea

Yes - Real life differences aside, North Korea is a reliable and loyal nation which I felt we should be allied with. This was nevertheless a controversial proposal in Congress but I came to my decision after reviewing Scrabman's say on the matter.

In short, they wish to remain neutral and want to participate only in our training wars (they rejected an invitation into the PEACE war games). They relieved William Shafer (who was their commander of their army) of duty, a hated ex-eAmerican, so that they can appease us. They also say that they have assurances that PEACE is not planning further PTOs of their nation now that they have secured the start-up gold that they received. And finally..they are paying both sides of the MPP.

Really, why couldn'u RL North Korea be like this?

MPP with Spain

Spain is an superb ally which we can always count on. I felt it would be appropriate to renew our MPP with them.

Well that concludes my final voting record for this term. That's right, I am seeking re-election (more on that later)! Moving back to my voting record, you may notice that most of the proposals are MPPs. Well that occurs every month when Congress comes to an end, proposals on other issues require time (which we don't have much of) for a thorough debate.

So anyway, feel free to express your thoughts, I look forward to responding to them! And on a final note, don't forget to subscribe to my newspaper so that you are regularly updated with what I have to say (incl. my re-election article which shall be released shortly)!
