Join the new world

Hello, my name is Donovan Zoi and I am running for Congress near the frontlines of Languedoc Roussillon. This will be my first serious bid for a seat, as I feel that there exists a need for more independent voices in the legislative branch. If my name sounds familiar, you may recognize a quote of mine in the comments section of the 2012's article of the year:

Hubris, followed by ineptitude, followed by deafening silence.

This was part of my contribution to a discussion that Fitisin raised about some questionable strategic choices made to date by the Artela administration. To her credit, President Artela has apparently taken heed of some of the complaints levied once that article was published, though there is still much work to be done. There seems to be more activity in the media, and just today we finally experienced the collective euphoria of a decisive victory while besting Hungary to protect our industrial interests in Aquitaine.

That last thing I want to do is put a damper on yesterday's celebration, but we really shouldn't even be in this position at this point. There are two reasons why.

Hubris

Let's take a look at the Asturias Accord, and I'll keep it simple:

- USA keeps all it bonuses.
- Brazil retreats from holdings in the Iberian Peninsula.
- Spain gets back most of it's territory to use how it wishes against everyone but USA and Brazil; Portugal (EDEN) eventually targeted.
- ONE makes better use of Spain peace to encroach on TERRA allies Germany and France.

On the surface, it certain seems like we put our interest above our allies here, so one can easily see how the stage was set for Act II.

Ineptitude

Our administration can try to make the case that they were looking out for Germany when they attempted to face a Polish juggernaut head-on, but it's apparent that more effort was spent on this unfortunate maneuver than fighting alongside Germany to hold ground against Poland in the first place.



During the time of this mission and two failed attempts at retreat, Hungary was let off the hook to grow from two regions in France to practically taking it over. Then, while we braced ourselves for the worst from Poland after our removal from Denmark and the UK, our enemy exhibited a level of restraint we could not muster by considering their objective complete without hanging allies out to dry.

How is it that this USWP administration, which has displayed such skill in manipulating our domestic game mechanics against political rivals, has proven to be so inept against our enemies --- especially where our allies are concerned?


Break the Silence - Donovan Zoi for Congress

This is why I would like to represent Languedoc Roussillon in Congress, as I want to be part of the discussions that affect our nation. If I am wrong in my assessment of either of the premises above, I'd like an explanation of why I am wrong. And it doesn't appear that I (rea😛 we) will ever get one as a common citizen.

Here are some examples of how I intend to conduct myself as congressman:

- I will always weigh the defense of sworn allies against frivolous national interests when voting on such issues.

- I will represent those who feel left of out of the political process due to party affiliation or perceived lack of game experience (except GCL).

- I will stand with other Congressmen who wish for more transparency in regards to congressional proceedings, while also taking into account the needs of national security.

- I will make the most of my freshman term in Congress, and intend to soak up procedure like a sponge.

- I will not pay for votes, nor accept bribes for citizenship requests.

- I would like to work with Gnilraps to help develop a better top down communication structure for our armed forces than the antiquated DoD newspaper or elusive IRC channels, especially when it comes to rallying a new breed of True Patriots to fight on behalf of other nations.

- I will conduct my business in Congress as a statesman and intend to call them as I see them, even if that means being castigated in the eUSA forums. I am not doing this for teh lulz.
