Blarg Unity. Amirite, ladies?

Day 1,980, 07:09 by fingerguns

I read two articles this morning about Unity. They were both terrible.

Dr Luis is starting his *potential* run for President with a very wanky piece about how the eUS needs to be united in spirit and stand together and some other stuff and junk. America. Eagles. Freedom. It was trite.

Joseph Dinero wrote an equally wanky piece, extremely well-written but seriously lacking on a stirring point or a call to action. More venting and a bit of this 'revolution is coming' teasing...I guess to remind people that they stated almost a month ago that there was some kind of plan in the works for something. I dunno.

This is my attempt to bridge these two awful articles into something people may actually have a use for, because as awful as they are, they are timely. We need to have a REAL conversation, not just throw propaganda at each other because both of these writers are right- New developments in world events being what they are, we need to be on the same team here and we need to be clear about what we consider 'acceptable tactics.'

More on WAR here: WHPR

The ATO has been going well. While RGR and some of his buddies haven't been completely wiped out, they've been seriously handicapped. The last CP election probably didn't need to utilize the Unity process at all. Vanek was a solid candidate that most people rallied behind and RGR is such a ridiculous joke that even our enemies don't want to work with him anymore.

To get rid of the Unity process (primaries to narrow down the field before election day), we need a STRONG eUS candidate with a very clear vision for the nation. As DrLuis attempted to convey- we need to be united in spirit and in focus. And we need someone the nation wants to rally behind. The reason for the Unity elections was to avoid having an election so divided that we make things easy for the PTOers. With too many 'good options' or too many 'meh options', votes will be split and it won't take much for PTOers to win. The primary meant to narrow down the field is both logical and effective.

But we're undoubtedly sick of it. This bad taste has been in our collective mouth about the process since the beginning. As Joseph Dinero explained in his article, the process can be easily corrupted by corrupt individuals who see the Unity primaries as an opportunity to grab and hold power rather than an unfortunate BUT TEMPORARY reality.

While not EVERY election has been rigged or unfairly manipulated, we all know that some of them have. We even seem to know who is involved in that kind of thing, but rather than calling them out directly, some people dream up conspiracies about a cabal of power hungry elitists controlled by some sort of puppet master and start going after those they believe to be foot soldiers (evidence be damned).

And when people say crazy stuff like that, it makes the people who know better call them foil-hatters and start seeing whole swaths of the nation as butthurt conspiracy theorists who are so blinded by rage and frustration that the courtesy of asking for their opinions is probably a wasted effort. And there you go...an entire nation divided by the actions of just a couple people, not to mention some self-fulfilling prophesies. We're all paranoid now! You're either with us or against us! You and your ilk are killing this nation! RARRARRRRRARRRR

It's past time to ask the question- when will we know when we don't NEED this anymore? If you say 'when the ATO has been completely eliminated' then what you're really saying is that we will have this forever. If the Unity process is meant to be temporary, then we need a few reliable indicators that it is safe to proceed without them. Is it something that should be abolished entirely, or are we open to having it some months when it seems necessary (multiple strong candidates or no strong candidates), and not in other months when the nation is pretty much totally behind a single person already?

Also...who decides this? Congress? Some committee? The current Administration? Party Presidents?

Does the impending threat of world war lead you to believe now is NOT the time for this conversation?

Please leave your comments below or write an article of your own in response. No more wanking, let's actually sort this out. If you have no ideas or anything useful to say, feel free to just NOT comment.

Thanks for reading,

If it needs to be said- I'm not running for anything...ever again.

We'll need it forever. We'll never have enough people to cancel out the nutters and the legit PTOers, because this game just isn't that popular. So maybe we should start explaining to people that this is just the way it is, and they can still be involved, but primaries are a necessarily and permanent feature of our political process.

R U I N A T I O N
R U I N A T I O N Day 1,980, 07:33

Lol, if you dislike my article it probably means I'm doing something right. Plus... where did I announce my race for President? I don't see anything in that article or any article in there. Maybe you're kind of out in time/space regarding this precise matter?

Anyway, I do agree we all need to talk, but that is the precise point of unity. We can't just be together on the ballots, we need to go beyond that. I may not be the best person at wording exactly what I want but at least what I said in there is honest and is exactly what I think. I don't like the process regarding elections but we cannot give space for a PTO to win and let RGR laugh at us, maybe when it is safe (as you stated) we can get rid of this process, but that is the tricky part right?

If you did want to inspire unity, sit down and talk about this important matter, you don't do that by starting to badmouth other people articles. Once again, don't take this personal, it is my opinion.

fingerguns
fingerguns Day 1,980, 07:38

My opinion was that your article was not very good. Don't take it personal.

Also, you're not running for President? Ok.

R U I N A T I O N
R U I N A T I O N Day 1,980, 07:46

Didn't say I wasn't running. I just don't think it is correct that you say I'm running for President when I didn't even announce it because people can rethink things. There is the right time for everything. ; )

Either ways as I stated previously, I do agree with what you say regarding the electoral procedures but now I leave you a question: What precisely would be the criteria to be consider safe to run without the unity process?

^ I think that question is way more important than who decides when we get rid of this process or what government institution.

fingerguns
fingerguns Day 1,980, 07:49

I get the impression you didn't read past the first paragraph.

R U I N A T I O N
R U I N A T I O N Day 1,980, 07:59

I actually did read but what I saw in there was just a throw up of ideas, not something constructed. I can just say: Oh let's open the unity process and get rid of it for a few months. The question I'm trying to ask you is: Based on what? AFA number of members? AFA congress percentage? Number of hostile PTO parties? Number of AFA votes in CP elections?

This is what I'm trying to pull out. Because at this point, I do not think it is safe yet to get rid of the process, but if those numbers recorded by the DHS data keep going down low, it may be possible to get rid of this in a few months.

fingerguns
fingerguns Day 1,980, 08:21

Now we're cookin. How low do you think they need to go?

Emerick
Emerick Day 1,981, 11:43

ya I feel the same way. I read half of it and threw it away. It was utter trash.

R U I N A T I O N
R U I N A T I O N Day 1,980, 09:31

I don't have all data in my possession, all I had was Immigration data which in my opinion is also a good indicator. We had a flood because of the gold mine but it is what is it... those people just wanted to dig and leave, they won't stick with the AFA, they just used the AFA as a mean every time IES rejected them. So I expect the same flood leaving as well (hopefully the new IES Director will give us the stats I used to so we can compare). In all honesty it might take more than a few months, I'd shoot more like 6 months? I say this because although people leave, the AFA tries to counterbalance this and as much desperate as RGR might be, there are always people coming and those will vote for them unless we grab them first.

The good side of this is: RGR makes enemies everyday inside his own party because people are getting fed up of his failures, eventually the disruption will be so much that the AFA won't be able to operate properly (this is already happening considering the Serbs that left along HanibalLA after their massive argument and considering how RGR keeps around the Serbian MoFA channel begging for more).

I would propose this criteria for removing unity process:

AFA voters < 550
AFA members < 450
AFA congress percentage < 20%
IES violations < 30% of the total.

I know this numbers are a bit strict and hard to reach but if we get to this point I would probably say it is a bit safe to do without unity process.

Feel free to comment : )

excellent read. We really do need to come up with a process for phasing out unity.

ICCR rebooted? maybe? I think an inter-party committee is the way to go. It brings minds that care about the issue together, minds that have the time to think about these things. PPs are too busy-- this committee, however, should be PP appointed.

R U I N A T I O N
R U I N A T I O N Day 1,980, 08:20

I agree with this but I think DHS should also be involved because... PPs don't have all the data regarding security and that is VERY IMPORTANT.
