In my last article, we discussed the paramount role of education in the retention of new players.

Now, we'll discuss my economic ideology-slash-vision-slash-plan and how it can help the nation. The feasibility of this plan rests upon the availability of a bigger, active and well-educated population, thus my last two articles.

"Socialist-ishness"

I propose that we shift to a brand of socialism called "socialist-ishness", wherein, as I mentioned in an interview with hoskin, a symbiosis is struck between the government and the private sector for the ultimate benefit of the masses

I envision an economy where government-owned companies will remain in place, even upgraded, to keep local market prices in check, provide Skill 0/minimum wage/near-minimum wage employment to the people, provide an endless supply of weapons to the military, while fostering the growth of an export-oriented Manufacturing and Construction sector.

Essentially, the government will keep the local market under control while we push the private sector to exploit markets OVERSEAS.

Let's face it. The government can't afford to take on all sectors of the economy so we need to have the civilians do it for us.

What I envision is gradually and strategically lowered import tariffs on certain raw materials that are scarce or lacking in the country. This will empower our Manufacturing industries and our heretofore virtually non-existent Construction sector by allowing them to produce goods at a cheaper rate due to inexpensive raw materials. It will allow them to save up to buy export licenses and compete more ferociously in international markets.

Also, I envision the government pursuing the establishment of overseas Land companies based in high raw material regions in order to secure a steady and cheap supply of raw materials, either by purchasing companies through the Department of Home Affairs or by coordinating with the public sector (i.e. getting civilians to prop up companies overseas and possibly going into contractual agreements with them).

The Department of Trade and Industry

In short, I propose the creation of a Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), an economic team that will act as a liaison between the government and the private sector, a place where investors can air their concerns.

The DTI will be responsible for fostering growth in targeted areas of the private sector, as well as providing them tools, information and perhaps even money to properly exploit overseas markets with the ultimate aim of strengthening the Philippine economy.

The DTI will be the place for citizens and business-owners to go for sound economic advice, such as what type of businesses are best to invest in at the moment, what countries are best to export to and what products, etc.

In the future, the DTI could encourage local and foreign investment through targeted media and ad campaigns, as well as recommend tax rates for maximum benefit to the national treasury and the economy.

In my next article, we'll talk about the importance of automated information management and how it can help the government, the military, businesses and everyone to make quicker and more well-informed decisions.
