A reflection on the past, a look towards the future

Day 1,230, 14:41 Published in USA USA by Teucer

A few days ago, I was approached by Emerick with the offer to lead his potential cabinet as Chief of Staff. Entering the political realm is somewhat of a new adventure for me, and I’m looking forward to it immensely. But before I (hopefully) move on into my new future, I want to take some time looking back at where I’ve come from, specifically my experience in the eUS Military. Hopefully, for those that do not know me yet, it will shed some light as to my background and character and why it is time for me to head down a new path in eRepublik.

For those of you who do not know me, I started my eLife in the old eUS National Guard (basically, the Training Corps but less cool). At the time, the eUS military was the place that really attracted my attention since they helped win wars and could help me grow as a player. I don’t think I realized how much of an impact the military would have on how I view and play this game.

One of the first things I learned was that relationships mean everything in this game. Some of the best relationships I have in this game are with people I met in the military and they will never go away. As I rose through the ranks and eventually joined other branches, I met players like Leroy Combs who taught me how to be an upstanding player and what it means to serve our country. Without mentors like him, I wouldn’t be half the player I am today, and I hope to be able to do the same things for young players who show great potential as he did for me. The relationships I have built are my strongest link to this game and without them I wouldn’t still be playing today.

As I helped form the TC along with other great players like Angelini, Relin, and Abayarde, I began to learn what it takes to build a strong foundation for our nation. The TC taught me the value of citizen education, and it showed me how much potential new players often have. Over time, I found myself to be more and more of an educator and I found that I truly enjoy watching our best and brightest flourish. The military gives young players an outlet to learn and grow in a way few other areas of this game can. They learn all the skills necessary to work in the government or run for Congress from a place that always guarantees political neutrality and players with enough determination can rise quickly to become pivotal parts of the military war machine.

It was as Lt. General of the TC that I began to figure out how complex our government truly is. I remember meeting daily with fellow JCS members and our President, which impressed upon me how intelligent the President had to be to maintain each aspect of our nation and move us forward. I was particularly impressed with Emerick during WW3 and the way he led our nation out of our darkest period in the country’s history. There is no doubt in my mind that the military would have eventually prevailed against the foreign invaders all on its own, but without Emerick as our spiritual leader at the helm it would have been 100 times the battle. I remember no better moment while playing this game than the day we took back our final region at the end of WW3.

After I left the TC, I joined the eUS Airborne. It was here that I learned how important our country’s relations with other nations are. Each time we would move to fight for an ally we would get members of their respective militaries thanking us for our help. It made me proud to be an eAmercian fighter and helped our military form bonds with allied militaries around the world. This makes the military very unique from other groups and the closeness of our military and others is one of the most important relationships in our nation. It is my hope that we can also develop these relationships with our newest allies in Terra and also link with our allies in EDEN to combat NWO forces in the days to come.

So, thanks to the eUS Military for being the awesome group that you guys and girls are. I’ve always been proud to have been a soldier in our Armed Forces and the things I have learned are truly invaluable. Keep up the great work and keep on kicking ass!

I should've been a Ranger...
