A New Player's Guide to eRepublik

Day 853, 21:11 Published in Australia Australia by Timeoin
Starting Out:

Choose a name:
Obviously you have already done this, or you would almost certainly not be able to read this article. Welcome to the game, too, and hopefully you will stay playing this great game, just as I did. Let me personally welcome you to the game.

There are some other important things that you should do today, though:

Change your avatar/profile picture .

To add a profile picture, click here .

This is something that you can do anytime, but it will a) help you stand out more from the other citizens, who dont have a picture.
and b) help to make your game character more unique. Not only this, but you also get some experience points for doing so, so why not?

Find a job .

It is relatively easy to find a job . Finding the RIGHT job for you is slightly more difficult.

There are three types of jobs out there: Manufacturing, Land, and Construction. For more information about the three different types of jobs, click here .

Remember that, where possible, once you have a job, that you should try and work EVERY DAY. This is not just so that you get the most experience that you can, although this is important, but also because after working 30 days in a row, you get a "Hard Worker" achievement, and 5 gold as a result.

Buy Food .

It is also necessary to buy food to stop your player from starving.

Train .

Click here to train. Training is another important element of the game. Training allows you to increase your strength, which in turn increases the amount of damage that you are able to do when you get to fight, which will be covered shortly. There are four types of training that are available. For now, just choose the first one. Unless you have spent money to unlock features, you will not have any gold to start off with.

Anyways, for now, click the first one. They all give you the same amount of experience points.

Every 5.0 Strength Points (Strength 5,10,15, etc), you will recieve 5 gold, so it is important to remember to train as often as possible.

Reaching Level 3:

Following the above steps should give you the following experience points.
* Finding a job for the first time (5 experience points)
* Selecting and uploading a profile picture for the first time: (2 experience points)
* Working (1 experience point every day you work).
* Training (2 experience points every day you work) This is available at Level 2 .
* Buying food (No experience points, but it stops you from losing a significant amount of wellness (health) every day).

You should now be at 10 experience points (Level 3).

You should now be able to fight.

Fighting .

Fighting is done by clicking any of the battles available here

It is advisable that, before fighting you check the Department of Defence Orders for where citizens should be directing their fighting. (And remember to subscribe to that newspaper so that you can stay up-to-date on important military orders!)

Once you know which battle you are fighting in, you need to keep in mind the following bits of advice:
* Every "fight" you do, you lose 10 wellness.
* You cannot fight if you have below 40 wellness.
* To Heal you need to be in one of the following regions: Queensland , New South Wales , Victoria , Western Australia, or South Australia . (If you are not located in one of these regions, then you will need to buy a Moving Ticket , and move to one of those regions). If you have fought today, and have not yet healed, clicking the state where you reside. On that page, next to the place where it lists the Hospital, there will be a button that says "heal".
* Hospitals now only heal the damage that you do in battle. What this means is that if you fight only once, you will only regain 10 wellness.
* If you were not at full, or almost-full wellness when this system changed over, then you will need to find other ways to increase your wellness (such as getting someone to buy you higher quality food, gifting, etc). Please get in contact with Centrelink for more information on how to increase your wellness.

Joining a Political Party .

Joining a Political Party is another important step that many citizens make at some point in their eLife (some choose never to join a party, or to only join to vote in elections).
A list of the Political Parties can be seen here .

Newspaper :

At the cost of 2 gold (which you should be able to afford after earning at least 1 "Hard Worker" badge), You will have the opportunity to create a newspaper, and show off your journalistic talent. This article offers you some good advice to making a good article, although there are a wide variety of options for content and writing styles. The choice is yours! The best advice that can be given here is to be creative! Make it interesting, and people will read it!

Running for Senate (also called Congress). .

Upon reaching Level 12, you can also run for Senate. In Australia, on the 25th of every month, Senate elections are held, and in each Australian state, the 5 candidates with the highest number of votes in each state are elected to represent Australia for that month. There are also 5 "wildcard" senators, who are the 5 next highest voted candidates, from all of the territories combines. Click here to find out more about the process . If you want to get involved in Senate, it is important to remember three things. One: you will need to be a member of one of the Top 5 Parties . Secondly: Writing a good platform in a newspaper is very highly recommended. Three, become active in the community before you seek election in Senate. People are more inclined to vote for you if they know who you are and know that you are active and have some good ideas.

Businesses

Fancy yourself as a General Manager? Perhaps running your own business is just what you need. For the initial cost of 20 gold, you can create a new company , or for slightly less, you can buy your own company

It is HIGHLY advisable to consider any investments that you might wish to make in this section very carefully. Do your research before you go into business for yourself. Ask around (particularly on either the forums or IRC (see below), for advice from other eAustralians before you buy your company. This has the potential to stop you from wasting your hard earnt gold.

Forums

The forums (click here) are where a large portion of the community interaction in eAustralia takes place (These are separate from the eRepublik forums, which are able to be used by all citizens of eRepublik - the forum to which I refer is mainly used by Australian Citizens. At these forums, once you have registered yourself as an eAustralian citizen , you can sign up to get involved with the military: Click here to sign up for Boot Camp , and, later on How to join other sections of the Military, and their requirements . You can also sign up to join a political party , or you can just introduce yourself, and get to know some of your fellow eAustralian citizens . You can also See what your government representatives, the Senators, are proposing and discussing, and when you start to get more experienced in the game itself, comment on some of the bills being legislated, or even suggest some of your own. . You can also get involved through the Australian eUniversity program. .

IRC

The IRC is where the "Real" community interaction takes place. the Ausrep chatroom is the official Australian chatroom for eRepublik. Here you can meet, in a much more people friendly manner, many of your fellow Australian Citizens, and get to know them. Many people frequent this room, both new and young citizens. Its a good way to get to know some of the countries more active citizens, and also to ask any questions that you may have about the game. It is a more user-friendly way of getting to know everyone, in that is isnt as strictly structured as forums inherently are.

Wiki

Here you can view information about Australia's history, some of its famous eCitizens, or even request access to create a Wiki account for yourself. . (Editor's Note: Australia's top Wiki Contributor asked me to mention the Wiki).
