Introduction - John Bartlett

Welcome to the 2nd of 3 instalments of my presidential manifesto. This instalment deals with Economic affairs and I hope that the ideas proposed demonstrate what I believe to be a beneficial change to the eUK's Economic system. I hope that the ideas put forward here will go towards earning your support and trust in the upcoming presidential election.


Sound Economics

The Ministry of Finance would be split into 3 sub departments led by the; Minister of Savings and Loans (MoSaL), Chancellor of the Exchequer (CoE) and the Minister of Economics (MoE). All these ministers/ministries will have to work hand in hand to ensure the eUK does the best in 'Version 2'. The improvements in the API will allow new tools to be made for better monitoring and it's about time this Ministry took the step into the API generation and made the most of it. This step forward will improve efficiency and allow better statistics to be made and therefore better predictions aiding any future plans the eUK has.

Ministry of Savings and Loans

This department would be run as a bank that provides both savings and loans. It will allow citizens of the eUK to invest both GOLD and GBP and receive an interest rate (set by the CoE) back on their savings weekly. Money can be put in and moved out whenever (interest will be generated on the lowest amount within that account at the end of the week). Citizens can start a savings account with a minimum deposit of 5 GBP (minimum account balance 1 GBP before account is closed). Loans will be given out to help business within the eUK - although the support of contracts has been removed loans will still be offered as they are a source of income and help improve the eUK on the whole. However because contracts are gone strict requirements will be set on people able to receive a loan as well as a maximum cap. (Each request for a loan will have to be voted on by the HoC).

e.g. minimum requirements: Citizen of the eUK for at least 3 months, member of the forum, background check as well as possible sponsors for the loan in case of default. (These will be discussed with the ministry of finance team.)

The saving side will generate money which can be used to invest in other industries as well as providing the BoE with GBP without having to constantly print money off. All savings will of course be backed by the BoE and money safe guarded.


Chancellor of the Exchequer

This is basically the Minister of Finance however the role will be brought into V2 with a bang. This will be achieved by making use of the API to help monitor exchange rates and currency values. These tools will allow the CoE to increase monetary market controls and allow the eUK to set a stable exchange rate. This will allow businesses to have a basic rate at which they can be assured will not change for 2 weeks. This should improve confidence within the GBP and allow business to benefit from better predictions of profit. The CoE will also ensure all other ministries are properly funded as well as setting an interest rate for the MoSaL.


Ministry of Economics

The main role is to monitor trade within the eUK and make the most of the information available to it. This will allow the ministry to make the best judgements on what the taxation rates should be set at. This will be important with V2 on the horizon and crucial in getting the best start to the new version.

The Ministry of Economics will also look at saving money within the government and take Ministerial Reports and look for cost saving methods both long term and short term.
