Introduction - John Bartlett

Welcome to the 1st of 3 instalments of my presidential manifesto. This instalment deals with the Military affairs and I hope that the ideas proposed demonstrate what I believe to be a beneficial change to the eUK's Military system. I hope that the ideas put forward here will go towards earning your support and trust in the upcoming presidential election.

An Efficient Army

A strong, active and informed military ensures a strong nation. To achieve this we need to get more people actively involved and informed about how the military works. I plan to make use of the external forums, the in-game national forums and mailing to provide our soldiers with the knowledge they need to stay at the top of their game. Guides will be provided about how to access such key communication tools such as IRC, Forums and the military hub. I believe the more that can be communicated the more that can be achieved. To catch new players who have not discovered the forums yet, we will place recruitment officers periodically in the UK in-game chat and forum areas. They can talk with and provide links for new players.

I will encourage all active citizens in the UK to become involved somehow in the UK military. While this is done to a large extent now, I would like to see almost everyone working for military companies, and no-one fighting in the wrong battles. This is particularly important with the new hospitals system in place. For the first time since early 2009, even our active population are beginning to work at lower wellnesses than they should be. We need to encourage all soldiers to purchase houses, even if only Q1, and make sure everyone is healing to the maximum by using wellness calculators and a mix of gifts and mid-quality food. It may be possible to provide these houses at a discounted rate to soldiers from state owned companies. To alleviate the workload placed on the supplying commanding officers of the military, I would place the task of recruitment entirely under the MoHA's duty - with an expanded team designed for this role. The military likes to manage itself and I wish to continue this, but recruitment is very much a political factor which would be better placed in the hands of Home Affairs managers.

Version 2

I see 'Version 2' as a new era on erepublik with all the military changes coming to the game, and after careful consideration and consultation with various top military leaders, I see that it would be more fitting to re-brand the Royal Navy as the British Army. This not only makes more sense for new players but also makes more sense with the new weapons of war such as Tanks, Artillery and Rifles. While this is admittedly a superficial change, the fact that new players will be able to better relate to our system will encourage them to get involved more often

Minister of Defence

One of the key things that I have gotten from the military whilst talking to members is that the position of Minister of Defence (MoD) should be removed. Although this sounds drastic, the role in itself is no longer needed as the military is currently run by the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) - therefore we save wasting our time on a double-check system where two heads of the military must agree to any changes that need to be made

The eUK armed forces, while currently not as strong or large as other national forces, are well known for its good organisation and extremely capable leadership. What we should be aiming to do is continue this trend, along with a more intense in-game recruitment programme, to turn it into a force that will be recognised throughout the eWorld.
