Wondering where that strange list of ‘top articles’ you see every Sunday went? Well, now you found it here on Monday. It was a busy weekend preparing for the full launch of the Writers Guild of Canada and the Canada Prize tournament, so forgive me. Now, that it’s all done, let’s get down to the more important stuff. Your nominees for this week are as follows:

1. “Defending the Nation: 3 Part Series” by Phineas Gage of The Synapse.
The Plug: The Phineas Gage Encyclopaedia of the New World has yet another instalment. Need to learn what makes a ‘wall’? Curious about eCanada’s military might? Feel the need to do some research on building a hospital? It’s all there, packed together with some fine writing and a serious message…
Best Lines: (A great opening to set the stage) “As our enemies and allies alike wage wars of conquest they grow ever stronger, increase in Military force, honing their skills for deployment and organization, and gaining wisdom in the art of eWarfare. As eCanada watches from the sidelines, our resource-laden, economically wealthy, country falls behind these aggressors in military prowess, and increasingly it appears to these military giants much like the proverbial low hanging fruit; ripe for the picking.”

2. “Augustus Baldwin Wins CSD Presidency; Doesn’t Care What You Think” by Augustus Baldwin of The Guns of August.
The Plug: As demonstrated in the news listings lately, anything with ‘AB’ in it goes wild. It’s the main reason why we called it the SPABAs, after our first winner. There’s not much more to say, since the title of the article will sell itself…other than that AB’s last win took down Phineas Gage. Do I see a rematch brewing?
Best Lines: “Campaigning as a Messianic agent of rebirth, and not a party stealing carpetbagger, Baldwin swept away all those who stood before him. Baldwin beat Zanalan by infinite percent to zero percent, and he can now realistically declare himself the winner. As of Sunday afternoon, Baldwin noted he didn’t care what the vote count said, as most members of the CSD didn’t know any better anyways.”

3. “The Canadian Tax Debate” by SensibleVoices of The Sensible Voice.
The Plug: Nothing gets Alexander ‘Raring –to-go” Rearden out of bed like a tax debate. VATs, CBTS, PIT systems, and any other acronym with ‘T’ for ‘Tax’ is in here and even more so in the comments below. As a follow-up to his previous “Taxes,Schmaxes” article, SensibleVoices presents a balanced look at what makes a Consumption Based Taxing System tick.
Best Lines: Pros -The common man gets more of his paycheck. This will boost consumerism which is good for the economy. - A richer person gets taxed more, since he/she buys more and higher Q products. This is the closest thing we can have to a Progressive Income Tax in the present in-game mechanics.

4. “Prime Minister’s Address to the Nation” by Bruck of Bruck News.
The Plug: Prime Minister Bruck lays it out there for eCanada to see. It’s a move eCanadians appreciated, judging by the response. Bruck kept it simple and free from attacking opponents or giving himself too big a pat on the back. Let’s hope future Prime Ministers and other government ministers provide equal attention to keeping the public informed.
Best Lines: Government Transparency - During the short time I have been Prime Minister I have authorized two separate government press releases by minister of Communication Dominik and his Deputy Mr. Josh Taggart in an effort to keep eCanada informed with the goings on of it’s government. Furthermore this very article is proof of my personal commitment to this goal. As always, I believe a government should be committed to its people and if it cannot be so it does not deserve their respect.”

5. “Congress, What’s it Doing? What is Anyone Doing?” by Derakor of The New Canadian Standard.
The Plug: As a rule, the Shameless Plug doesn’t choose political campaigning as its top picks. Partly so because of the need to seem unbiased and politically neutral (that’s never really possible, now is it?) but it’s mainly due to the plain fact that electioneering makes less interesting reading. That’s not to say I don’t appreciate the time put into building and promoting a political platform. It’s just that few people say it as well as this…
Best Lines: “So really, who's at fault for why Congress is so slow, or why its so messed up and full or hyproctritical procrastinators. If you want to say that. Or why its so un-transparent. Really its up to you! The people! Or do we forget that the majority rules in a democracy, or is suppose to. If you really don't like something that's been done, then speak up! Get known! Get on the forums and compain about it and get others to join you! The more people you get, and the louder your voice, the more we, the government will listen and try to do something.”

Those are the Final Five of the week. I hope you saw it my way. Let me know if I missed something good!
