[WGC] Canada Prize Now Down to 8 Competitors!
Writers' Guild of Canada
Well the first three rounds of the tournament have seen some fantastic articles and some disappointing ones. Unknowns have made a name for themselves, whether or not they’re still alive, while some established media magnates have proven their worth while others haven’t. Finally, we’re on the home stretch – there are 8 fantastic journalists still alive. Here’s the breakdown - winners are in bold.

Dade Pendwyn - 91 vs. Marius Coroleone - 78
SensibleVoices - 75.5 vs. TylErection - 73
Augustus Baldwin - 73 vs. Zanalan - 79 vs. Alias Vision - 81
Vincent Chaotic - 78 vs. Derek Harland - 73.5
William Duncan - 83 vs. Clancy Forrest - 74
Dominik - 79 vs. Marcchelala - 82
Banach - 81 vs. Bruck - 77
As you can see there were some big names knocked out this round. Don’t worry folks, it only gets better from here on in! The next round will have much less stringent writing categories - they’ll be broken up into 4 sections: the economy, the military, the media, and politics. Here is a preview of the quarter-finals.
----April 9----
Banach vs. Vincent Chaotic - Economy/Economics in eRepublik
This clash represents the most established competitor of the tournament against the least established. Vincent has slugged it out since the beginning of the competition, winning 3 straight matches, and he’s earned the right to be in the quarters. The only question now is if he can pull of a big upset over one of Canada’s journalistic behemoths.
Zanalan vs. Alias Vision - Politics in eRepublik
Zanalan was the only competitor to survive a matchup against one of the tournament’s 4 double bye journalists. His victory over the King-of-Naughty Augustus Baldwin shows that just because he’s a former Prime Minister doesn’t mean he can’t wrangle with the best writers. However, this round will arguably be his toughest challenge yet, as he faces the indomitably charismatic staple of the journalistic community: Alias Vision.
----April 10----
SensibleVoices vs. William Duncan - Military/Fighting in eRepublik
Both these guys are excellent young writers, and have proven they deserve to be this close to the gold. William Duncan has shown that when he’s good, he’s very good. However, does he have the consistency to beat out the always dependable SensibleVoices? We’ll have to see.
Dade Pendwyn vs. Marcchelala - Media in eRepublik
Two WGC members writing about the media? This one could go all sorts of different ways. Dade Pendwyn is coming off a convincing win in the third round, but Marcchelala is on a roll and has won 3 straight matches. This match shouldn’t be missed.

I will be interested to see Banach's and Vincent's articles...
Exactly what I was thinking Alex. The most experienced versus one of the least.
Should be interesting.
I'm most interested in AV vs Zanalan
i gotta root for sensible. hopefully i lost to the best 😉
Dade, you beast 😛
You actually got me pumped, well done with the article 🙂
Woo, congrats to all and good luck!!!!!!!
Hey! When do I compete? In the semi-finals? 😛
This will be a very challenging round of judging. I'll either crack under the pressure or start to enjoy breaking the egos of our top writers. I'll be nice, promise.
I'm going in as the underdog this time with Zanalan being e😜resident and the subject being politics and all... 😉
Should be a fun round!
going against WD on military will be challenging...
Ahh- truly the best got into the quarterfinals. I'd say all 4 of these match-ups are going to be amazing. I can't wait for the next CP, so I can rematch Marcchelala 🙂
Yeah, now that some of you have pointed it out, the match-ups and topic combinations are very interesting. I think it offsets some advantages and refocuses what kind of 'strengths' will give an edge. I think only Vincent is the true underdog here, so he should probably gather a good fan base. Do we have some fans out there?
Vincent has a chance. Everyone knows that economy is out of this world for me.
We'll see, the topic gives the underdog a hefty fighting chance.
*whimper*
Okay, I've posted mine.
