Day 505, 16:34 Published in Canada Canada by Writers' Guild of Canada

Well the first three rounds of the tournament have seen some fantastic articles and some disappointing ones. Unknowns have made a name for themselves, whether or not they’re still alive, while some established media magnates have proven their worth while others haven’t. Finally, we’re on the home stretch – there are 8 fantastic journalists still alive. Here’s the breakdown - winners are in bold.

Banach - 81 vs. Bruck - 77

As you can see there were some big names knocked out this round. Don’t worry folks, it only gets better from here on in! The next round will have much less stringent writing categories - they’ll be broken up into 4 sections: the economy, the military, the media, and politics. Here is a preview of the quarter-finals.

----April 9----

Banach vs. Vincent Chaotic
- Economy/Economics in eRepublik

This clash represents the most established competitor of the tournament against the least established. Vincent has slugged it out since the beginning of the competition, winning 3 straight matches, and he’s earned the right to be in the quarters. The only question now is if he can pull of a big upset over one of Canada’s journalistic behemoths.

Zanalan vs. Alias Vision - Politics in eRepublik

Zanalan was the only competitor to survive a matchup against one of the tournament’s 4 double bye journalists. His victory over the King-of-Naughty Augustus Baldwin shows that just because he’s a former Prime Minister doesn’t mean he can’t wrangle with the best writers. However, this round will arguably be his toughest challenge yet, as he faces the indomitably charismatic staple of the journalistic community: Alias Vision.

----April 10----

SensibleVoices vs. William Duncan
- Military/Fighting in eRepublik

Both these guys are excellent young writers, and have proven they deserve to be this close to the gold. William Duncan has shown that when he’s good, he’s very good. However, does he have the consistency to beat out the always dependable SensibleVoices? We’ll have to see.

Dade Pendwyn vs. Marcchelala - Media in eRepublik

Two WGC members writing about the media? This one could go all sorts of different ways. Dade Pendwyn is coming off a convincing win in the third round, but Marcchelala is on a roll and has won 3 straight matches. This match shouldn’t be missed.
