[WeThePeople] Party President Address

Day 2,788, 09:23 Published in USA USA by Hale26

We The People!

Hope everyone enjoyed their ‘Murica Day celebrations and post-‘Murica Day hangover a whole 5 days ago. Yeah, my timing is still ridiculously bad.

You know what isn’t ridiculously bad?

THE CONTENT OF THIS ARTICLE!! (I swear)

Three things I’m looking to coverr today: The new President, The Forum Drive and a Referendum.

Congratulations Tyler!

My timing may be horrid as the election was won 4 days ago however the sentiment, I assure you, is not. Last Sunday, Tyler Buubular and Beach Bunny, delivered one of the most worthwhile, hardest fought elections our community has seen in some time (think John Largo - Molly Emma). An election like that one, where the outcome is uncertain, is the test we want to see our candidates undergo. We need elections that invite the player to be shouting, commenting, voting, even god forbid writing their thoughts out. Because, if there’s anything that spurs life into a community, it’s active contests like an election.

The importance of well run, well contested elections is something I personally hold dear as one of We The People’s founders, and because it is one of the founding tennants of our party. We’re the only party to have such elections for our Congress candidates, to have the hybrid ingame-forum election style we have.

Our slice of the community loves this shit, if anyone hasn’t noticed yet. So I can speak for everyone when I give my belated thanks to both Tyler and Beach Bunny for their great contest.

With the most exciting of margins (41 votes) Tyler is our President for the term of July-August. Already his term has went off to a great start, with Presidential media coming out, White House updates returning, an exciting Exec-driven war coming up AND - some awesome MoFA work from one of my personal favorites, eShades.

The country is in good hands this month. Thanks to everyone from WTP who supported our candidate and congratulations to Tyler and his team.

WTP Forum Drive!!

This month we’ve looked at a few internal initiatives. Recruitment in WTP went under a maintenance check and its infrastructure is going to be expanded so we have daily perspective of how the party is doing and how that relates to the national game. There’s also a low-yield recruitment strategy being looked at right now, on top of the existing infrastructure.

There was also the WTP-ME program, a meme for every reply to Communications Chief Blande. There’s been a decent response to the first MM it was tried on so hey, not too bad.

Well, we’ve got another iniaitive - Forum rebuff, starting with WTP’s forum recruitment drive!

As explained in articles by Media Director MrCarey and Retention Director MazzyCat, Retention is driving people to SIGN UP FOR THE WTP FORUMS!! You will be given 20 tanks if you reqest WTP forum masking. But man, we’re going beyond the tanks this time. On top of this great incentive, you get 3 things ADDITIONALLY, FREE OF CHARGE, for signing up to our forums.

#1- A return of “The Hill”, WTP’s premier forum game.

#2- Access to the growing and ever-awesome WTP community on forum. We’re aiming to get more and more posts from members like you everyday - and so far, it’s working out pretty well!

#3- Memes. Lots. And lots. Of Memes.

There’s lots of exciting stuff happening in the WTP community right now - earn your 20 tanks and join in on the fun by registering today!

Notice of Referendum

It was common place in WTP beforehand, as a populist party, to hold referendums on serious party stances. A long while ago there was a referendum against what was then the over-saturation of our media with vote-bought articles. Longer than that, there was the now-defunct “Bill 1” that the party voted on.

However, one powerful policy was missed - the mandate to campaign. Sometime ago I supported a exec-driven mandate that stated anyone running in our Congress primaries must campaign. As a WTPer, I believe strongly in the power of popular choice and elections - this was a policy many of us were happy to oblige to. It created a massive boost of WTP Media, WTP Community and competitiveness in our elections. However, it has been sometime since that mandate has been given.

I mentioned in my last article that there are steps we must take to make our party relevant in Congressional elections again. One of those is better party functioning, such as consistent Mass messages, set-Calendaring of all events, and a return to the tanks-4-voting program. These internal ventures have been largely achieved.

But, we must also expect more of our community as a whole. We all know that contested elections that offer YOU choice are important - look at the last CP run and what it did for the community, or WTP Congressman Oblige and his run for Speaker of the House. What we need to do now is have an agreement on what type of campaigning we must see from our Congressmen.

Shortly after this article I’ll be opening a party-feed discussion on the issue and a forum discussion on the issue, in line with precedent while adopting a newer technique inline with our mixed ingame-meta operating style. I’m hoping to have a mandate we can give to Congress candidates on what’s expected of them in terms of campaigning by the end of this.

Discussion 48-72 hours, vote 48.

There is no cure-all to our Congressional performance or our community dynamics. But there are many steps to take. The internal side has largely been tackled. The external, the image we provide to eAmerica - that still needs some working on. Having our Congressmen embrace the WTP tradition of populism isn’t a bad place to correct that.

That’s about all for this update. As always, if anyone needs anything - drop me a line~

Thanks!
