Good afternoon!

So here we are - the day before the party presidential elections. Tomorrow will be my final day as UKRP President, and in this final review I shall be analysing the candidates, providing you all with a transcript of an IRC debate, and reflecting on my past term.

UKRP Party Presidential Candidates

The UKRP elections are set to be a two horse race - current Vice Party President Darkmantle is battling it out with party veteran CertaCito.

CertaCito

CertaCito is definitely the most experienced of the two candidates. He is a founding member of UKRP and has remained loyal to us throughout our two year history. Having served a staggering 25 congressional terms, his legislative wisdom is unquestionable. He has also served as Commanding Officer of the now defunct Royal Guard, which reflects on his knowledgeable military mind.

Many have questioned CertaCito's activity and reliability - but perhaps the role of Party President will encourage a much-needed burst of presence in both the UKRP and the UK.

Darkmantle is an up-and-coming UK politician. He joined the party in November and instantly assisted in UKRP work. His enthusiasm and outstanding activity paid off when I appointed him my Vice Party President for my two consecutive terms. He is currently Underminister of Legislative Affairs, and has also served as UKRP's Congressional Director.

I will not be endorsing a certain candidate for Party President, as I feel both individuals are capable successors.

A Debate Between Darkmantle and CertaCito

I must say I did enjoy my brief role as David Dimbleby

On Sunday, the two candidates participated in a Question Time style debate. They took questions from party members and other observing citizens, and you can find the transcript by following https://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=0AURf5evYSg3aZGg5eHZycl8wcHY3dm53cno&hl=en">this link.

End of an Era

Right about now you are either quite exhausted after having read a rather lengthy transcript, or you didn't bother clicking on the link

It is here that I must apologise for not being a very good Party President. I have not dedicated enough time to the party, and I have not taken a firm and direct approach to my leadership. This has inevitably led to infighting and confusion about where we currently stand. I hope my successor can sort these problems out and take us forward.

However, I feel I have made some progress, albeit small. I have set up a party rewards scheme, which helps with party retention. Members now have something to work towards - they are now rewarded for their help. I have also laid the foundations for an international party alliance, and UKRP is set to become a founding member of a network of collaboration between right-wing parties. We have also managed to secure a UKRP Prime Minister for this term, after a long run of TUP premierships. I've also been reviewing our policy, and after melding together a variety of opinions and ideals, it is very likely we will soon be adopting a Third Way policy, to make our philosophy more contemporary and dynamic.

And of course - I have brought not one, not two, but three moustaches to the UKRP:

Thank you to everybody who has supported me, to everybody who helped in GLaDOS's campaign, and to every single UKRP member who were kind enough to vote me in for two terms as your party president.
