EDIT: Please note that the following information was written on 28/12/10. Since then, there have been plenty of changes in regards to the world's alliances.

Alliances are a group of countries that join military forces in a common goal. Currently there are three major alliances: Phoenix, EDEN and Brolliance. Note that Brolliance is usually allied with EDEN. This article will go over each alliance, along with a history of times before these alliances came to exist. Finally, this article will show how you can get involved with the eUK’s foreign affairs.

A Brief History

Before Phoenix and EDEN where created, there were two main alliances, ATLANTIS and PEACE. There were several smaller alliances, both before and after this, but due to their insignificance we will not discuss them. However, you can find plenty of information on the wiki about alliances. ATLANTIS was the alliance in which the eUK was involved in, along with the majority of what is now EDEN/Brolliance. While some might draw to the conclusion that EDEN = ATLANTIS and Phoenix = PEACE, there are several differences in membership and the running. ATLANTIS was created in August 2008, and collapsed in May 2009 after Sweden attack Germany, both ATLANTIS countries.

PEACE formed around the same time as ATLANTIS, back in August 2008. But PEACE managed to run for a longer time, officially dissolving in November 2009. During this few months period between the collapse of the two alliances, a few former ATLANTIS nations tried to create a new alliance, Fortis. However, this eventually failed. Eventually EDEN was created in place, but some countries, notably the UK and Germany, decided not to join, eventually joining Phoenix.

Phoenix

Phoenix was created in early December 2009. There are currently 17 nations in this alliance: Argentina, Estonia, France, Germany, Hungary, Indonesia, Iran, Lithuania, Macedonia, Montenegro, Netherlands, Portugal, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Turkey and UK. The Phoenix charter can be found here.

EDEN

EDEN was formed in November 2009. There are currently 14 nations in this alliance: Australia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Canada, China, Croatia, Finland, Greece, Italy, Norway, Poland, Romania, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. EDEN was originally conceives as a “brotherhood of nations” and not an alliance, so no charter was made during its creation.

Brolliance

Brolliance was originally between USA and Canada, which was first created in October 2009. However, it has since expanded to also include Australia, Ireland and Japan. Think of this as an extension of EDEN. Its odd but still official charter can be found here.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs deals with international relations. This includes reports on other countries, maintaining communications with Phoenix, and looking into making connections with the rest of the world. The current Minister is keram10 so send him a message if you are interested in working for this ministry. However, since we are nearing the next Prime Minister elections, a new term for this ministry will start, so keep an eye out for applications on the eUK forums in a week’s time for your chance at starting a new term in this ministry.
